Watch the Tamil Film "Angadi Theru". Beautiffuly scripted and portrayed. I would say it is trillion times better than "Slumdog Millionaire". Just because the film was directed by an Englishman Rahman could win Oscar. If Oscar is an yardstick for performers and if it is unbiased "Angadi Theru" should be awarded Oscar prize and in fact the Music Director, Director Producer and the entire team should be presented an Oscar.
This is not to underrate Rahman since no doubt he is a performer but to drive home the point there are equally better performers who are not duly recognized.

baby ramamoorthi...there are many films better than slumdog. In tamil, In malayalam, In hindi so pls stop this topic. If you want to say Angadi theru is good thats fine. Mouna raagam cannot match Roja / Amaram cannot match Thaazhvaram / Mother India cannot match Mugha-E-Azam - as simple as that.

You do realize that Oscars are for films made in the English Language. They have a category for foreign language films but it is just one award. The Academy concentrates on films in English and that precludes Tamil films automatically.
To the extent I know, Sufism is not Iszlam. They are very different.
In fact, Muzzzlims killed several Sufis, during their conquests. To the extent I know, Sufis fled to India to save themselves from the killllers and got refuge here.

you dont know any thing and dont simply bluff. Sufism is a thought of islam and have their explanaiton of islam. that doesnt mean sufism and islam r different. sufism is part of islam.
A. R. Rehman has left such a beautiful...spiritual...Hinduism and has accepted Islam in India without creating any music in the media. Its fine but now a days he is openly talking and praising Islam instead of talking about his music. Rehman is giving his reasons also why he likes Islam etc and in a subtle way is trying to criticizing other religions and their concepts. Why? Many Hindus have played a great role in building his career...he was loved by every secular Indians and he does not care about Hindus feelings. Hindus are really toooo broad minded.
Rehman is a lucky musician who has been appreciated and pampered in India more than his worth. As a singer he is just ok but he cleverly hides behind his computer controls and loud music.He pretends and claims to be a shy person but in reality he grabs every opportunity to be on the stage and in the media without giving a due credit to the original singer. Rehman has lost the magic of Rosa...and his earlier music. Slumdog Millionaire music was average but because the movie was a hit all over the world he got free publicity.
Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhist and Jains...we are one...we are strong...we need to learn from people of other religion...we need to love and respect our great religion too.We should be united irrespective of our language and our state...we may be from East,West, North or South...we all are Hindustani. We are one big caring...loving family having greatest family values and traditions on this earth.

rahman is a convert, he has to justify his idiocy. When he was a nobody, Hindus helped him but what did they get back in return?? I am sure his music would have been as fantastic if he had remained a hindu.

He is ignorant about other religion. Hinduism is the oldest religion and believe in one God...one Creator. Concept is different Avatars.

Who created Allaha??? Does Rehman knows, he is only interested in if he can win some award and material award by changing one religion. If some other religion promises better material benefits then he will convert to that relition.

You are right abdullah. The ultimate goal of all religions is to unite with the omnipresent and omnipotent lord through self-realisation. All religions lead to the same destination but through different paths.
Keeping aside this religious discussion, ARR's music is only average. He may have won international awards. His tunes may be OK for a week or month and after that it is distressing to listen. Majority of tunes are more influenced by western music. On the contrary, Ilayaraja is a genius. You can hear his tunes for years and years and they will still haunt you. The melody of Ilayaraja's tunes are far ahead than ARR's music.

Deepak we are all coward ppl!! We never follow the religious path but do create problem on the rediff board,across the country religiously!!! For example My all friends(hindu/muslim) even me in my school days,college days,we hv gone long tour by packed train in every puja occasion to see only beautiful gals(innocent confession) !!!!!!!!!! We never goes to mashjid for namaj!!! But unfortunately when we are face deep problem then we remember Allah or God!!! Every saint from all community had said way is difference but goal is one!! I hv remember the great story said by Ramkrishna Paramhans dev!!! So pls stop to spreading hatred to each other,I know u hv to say some idiot from my religious creating havoc problem,but Inshallah we will must recover from there & will see a peaceful world!!

I agree totally with you. When some one says I like 'X...because he is more intelligent then indirectly he is saying 'X' is more intelligent than 'Y' Why to bring religion subject in Music world?
Just throwing a bit more light on the circumstances under which ARR converted to Islam so that people get the context... He lost his father at an early age under mysterious circumstances and had his sister in a similar medical situation. Imagine the plight of a family of 4 children (3 of them women) and a non working mother with no money which is when his mother went to a muslim saint and his prayers helped save ARR sister. For a family going thro so much such miracles gives them automatically a hope to fight and live on....so what is wrong in following a religious path that gives them hope.
People turn to religion when going gets tough and all religions in this world give that elusive hope and directs humans in the right path. It is another thing that humans miscontrue religion and gods and miss the core message of our very existence and just follow the system and procedures.
So please stop blaming him for being a convert or whatsoever...he follows what gives him peace and hope and he is not forcing it on anybody or doing anything wrong...If any..people must have noticed the way he explains how doing prayers 5 times helps him de-stress which is very beautiful and makes sense...
So judge him or any person for what his character is and what he does and not what his religion is or how he got into that religion....
Disclaimer - I am neither a muslim nor a hindu but a spiritual person at that....
Islam is the most peaceful religious of the world. But some idiot like Osama,Kaniya Omar & sathi,And Bloody pakis hijacked this religion . But now time has come world community together will punish these extrimist & pakis!!!
