I only hope people like Rahman & Sir Abdul Kalam start speaking up. Their voices should be made public and directed towards the numb skull fundamentalists.

As a musician he has composed some wonderful tunes, but overall he is repetitive and the Oscar for Slum Dog was surprising.

But we need more muslims like him to speak against the mad mullahs.

i hate Jai ho.. of Slum dog millionaire movie since there is no natural music in it. There are only drums, trumpets etc which is not at all soothing. You are right, don't know how the song got oscar award.the music in it is totally unnatural and artificial, juglary of computer aided skills.

Hindus are really toooo broad minded!
by Deepak Raje on Apr 02, 2010 08:27 PM  | Hide replies

A. R. Rehman has left such a beautiful...spiritual...peaceful…Hinduism and has accepted Islam in India without creating any music in the media. On top of that he is openly talking and praising Islam religion instead of talking about music. Hindus are really toooo broad minded.

Rehman is a lucky musician who has been unnecessarily appreciated and pampered more than his worth. As a singer he is absolutely zero but he cleverly hides behind his computer controls and loud music. He pretends to be a shy person but in reality he grabs every opportunity to be on the stage and in the media without giving due credit to the original singer. Rehman has lost the magic of Rosa...and many of his earlier songs. Slumdog Millionaire music was ordinary but because the movie was a hit all over the world he has got free publicity.

Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhist and Jains...we are one...we are strong...we need to learn from other religion people and we should be united irrespective of our language and our state...we need to love, respect and protect our great religion. We may be from East...West...North...South...We all are Hindustani. We are one big caring...loving family...with greatest family values and traditions on this earth.

AR never begged for Grammy's or Oscar's for Slumdog , it was given to him.And what is wrong in using the world stage to showcase his genius. Perhaps this way , westerners will appreciate his other gems , in Hindi and in Tamil.
More than all this , he is a committed Indian , A Great Patriot. People of your ilk should not even try slinging mud on this great man.

You seem to be another short-sighted religious fanatic. I am sure you would be praising Rahman, if he were still Dilip.

If you have misgivings about his talent or fame, just ignore. You don't have to fret your frustrations here. All that matters is he is ruling the Indian music world since 1992, and now for the last several years he has started venturing into world scene as well. How many other Indian musicians(barring Maestro Ilayaraja) have done this?

All religions are beautiful...spiritual...peaceful, untill some Taliban, RSS, and other extremist factions hijack. And, which religion a person follows is his own prerogative and it is none of anybody else's business. Indian constituion has given us that much freedom.

So, please learn to see the positives of any person, rather than being religiously judgemental.

Everyone is just blasting Deepak Raje. Just try to get the jist of it. All he is saying is that everyone should unite. There is nothing wrong in that.

If jai ho deserves oscar then what abt old hindi songs like ye raat ye chandni phir kahaan,tu chupi hain kahaan , Mann tarpat etc renditions deserve... coz these songs calibre is much much higher than any off rehman songs...i even like rehman songs but cant term as the best in hindi cinema history...SD,RD are notches higher than rehman...

I HAVE NEVER HEARD SUCH ABSURD SUGGESTION AND ALSO ARGUMENTS AGAINST THAT. REHMAN got oscar for Jai Ho because it was a British Movie in English Language which can be nominated in Oscars... The old songs ur talking about are Indian Language songs...So they cant win oscar...To each his own... SD RD MADANMOHAN LAXMI PYARE KALYANJI ANDANDJI ROSHAN HEMANTKUMAR REHMAN SHANKAR EHSAN LOY VISHAL SHEKHAR and all others that I have not included are masters in their field...There is no Number 1...music is #1...so enjoy the music without discriminating by age, sex, region, religion or such CRAP...

Please try understand America and its politics. For creating any problems 4 us they (West)will try to divide us They are hardly bothered abt Indian music and musician. They will see their benefit raher see our talent. Prize to rehman should be seen in that light only.
