Manna Dey is rightly recognised for this prestigious award . A great singer with a very sound classical base and was versatile in all forms of songs be it filmi or nonfilmi.
Hope he will be alive many more years .

This is the best decsion taken by the powers that give awards. Manna Dey is a singer par excellent. With no disrespect to other greatslike Rafi, Kishore, Talat and Mukesh and many more talented others, in my opinion, nobody could match the voice of Manna Dey. Thanks a lot MANNA DADA for entertaining us with the most melodious voice of INDIA. YOU HAVE NO PEERS!!!!!!

I would go a step further. If Lata Mangeshkar is given Bharat Ratna, why not this great singer called Manna Dey!!!!

Huh?

Is this like a joke or somethin'? For a guy who's been an unsung hero (pun intended) for as long as anyone can remember, this must be amusing, especially keeping in mind the dop?heads who've been previous recipients. I don't think awards like these and Bharat Ratnas hold any significance to normal citizens anymore simply because they are driven by commerce, politics and hidden agendas...
