yesterday my friend saw him perform live in Orlando, Florida for a Durgotsav...he said he is 90 but his enthusiasm is admirable and so is his singing till now...he is a legend..and such awards can't add up to his genius

he practices for two hours everyday...still teaches music , gives interviews , performs live...till a few years ago he also used drive the car
Is he a top singer than Kishore, Rafi, Mukesh, SPB & Jesudas? or his contribution to cinema is greater than these guys...what is the criteria for giving this award?

You havn't got my point. What I'm asking is the criteria of giving this award and whether he contributed more than the other singers I've mentioned...as far as my listening is concerned I've heard lot of singer s all around the irrespective of music genres including Manna Dey.

Dear Sajan, The Dada Saheb Phalke awared is not conferred postumously. So your 1, 2 & 3 are ineligible & your 4 & 5 are still young. Definitely SPB & Yesudas will get their due.

Dont compare him with Rafi or Kishore. He is great singer. Rafi and Kishore hasd their own style and were great in their own way.

Boga,hold on please.Do not get over excited. The real receipent of Bharat Ratna should have been Dr. Baba Amte who sacrificed his life for the laprosy patients and also contributed by his Bharat Jodo yatra during the years of terrorism in Punjab. None of the NDA or UPA govt. think of confering Baba Amte as Bharat Ratna during their successive rule. Our political system is a rabid system full of nepotism.Tomorrow if any congress MP demands for Bharat Ratna for Rahul babab Gandhi,all the congress MP would paass the resolution unanimously. We are a nation of pathetic people.Will never become a Superpower. Because we never think beyond our selfishness.
