Prakash Raj is a great actor. He deserves it and am happy that he got that in a Tamil film directed by the well known Malayalam director Priyadarshan.. Another good thing about Prakash is he speaks with equal eloquence in all the languages he acts.. Really great

But one thing u missed buddy, he is a Kannadiga.. acted in all southern language films and won national award in Tamil and Telugu movies
Ive seen couple of his movies...He is very talented guy....Good to see he has been recognized finally...All da best prakash raj...by da way guys..hwo does it matter if it is prakash Raj or parakash rai...its a common practise to change names in this industry...stop bickering over such petty issue...teh fact is atleast teh award didnt go to whma bam glam actors with no acting skills...we should appreciate the fact that gud actor has been recognized for his work....good luck prakash Raj!!!...
He is great actor, it's pity that he did not get more opportunity in kannada movies, his acting in kannada movie nagamandala is excellent. His real name is Praksh Rai, not Raj.....rediff always make blunders...

Rediff is right. K Balachander introduced Prakash to Tamil cinema and asked him to change his surname from Rai to Raj.

Yes you are 100% correct..his actual name Rai...Balachander insisted him to change his name Raj...so the name does not belong to any particular region..balachander would have guessed at that time itself about his Prakash Rai's talents...and he has proved it now...

Congrats Prakash Rai, a great indian and a great kannadiga and a great asset to Tamil films! Thanks to tamil film fraternity for making him such a big super hit star! an excellent artist, acting runs in his blood. Watch his Kannada film "Nagamandala, Harakeya Kuri," superb films and award movies. He is excellent in tamil and telugu films! there is no match to him! he couldn't make a strong foothold in bollywood bcoz of jealousness! its a common disease in our country! I congratulate you both Prakash Rai and Umashree for receiving national awards, u are really great artists and all kannadigas and south film industry is proud of you! congrats to everyone! Namma hrudayapoorva abhinandanegalu!

He is Prakash Raj for Tamil and Telugu. Prakash Rai for Kannada. He changed his name to get wider acceptance. Kannadigas do not recognize their people so people like Prakash Rai, Arjun Sarza and even Rajani Kanth find recognition in other languages

Mr. Southern pride, you are hailed from karnataka and now working in USA for your good fortune. So that doesn't' mean that you have rights to blame your own people for not recognising your talents.Like wise artists do not have any borders, language and states to prove their efficiency.

Stuupid moderator.kannadigas know very well about Prakash's performance. He has started his career in kannada dramas and TV serials. His best movie in kannada was "NAGA MANDALA". this film had won the National award but Prakash missed the award as an actor. You can see one of his best performances in this movie.

Sir, Prakash Rai, born in 1965 in Mangalore, was persuaded to change his last name from Rai to Raj by veteran South-Indian director Kailasam Balachander.
