What to be projected?

Even in case of Mahatma Gandhi We will have very very bad incidences from his early ages. He would have fallen on the raod while walking or must have been coughing badly when he was ill or some times inside his bathroom may be even without dress. These are all truths and they did happen. But is this what we want to project as Mahatma Gandhi? In case of a bad movie the produces want only the 2 minutes goodness in that film to be highlighted. But in case of a nation you want all ugly things (whether they are truths are not)only to be projected. Will this improve the confidence of the Citizens in general and the future youthful generation in particular?

SDM

It is very hard to digest the truth and we have no choice to accept the truth. Slums are there, from many years and people have been living in it. In fact, what they have shown in the movie is very soft part. I am in great pain to look at the way they lead the life. Why do people cry about SDM now, why nothing was done before is my big question.
What they have shown is what it is. It was built by us and no use of shouting at SDM team.
Do you think the life of people will be bettered after watching the movie? Let us say in next 10 years..I have my own doubts and someone else is going to show again in some other movie until it exists. Let us learn from the movie and let us all do something to eradicate. I do not see any other way other then this.

I had highlighted the same in one of my earlier comments. Why is that people are making such a hue-cry over the slums now? The slums have been right in front of our eyes for years but what have we done. We shoo away slum dwellers at the very first sight without even offering a dime. And now when someone has made a movie on slum dwellers, I see my fellow Indians errupt with rage. Way to go!

take fiction for what it is- FICTION!
by Chaitanya Shroff on Mar 30, 2009 06:44 PM  | Hide replies

slumdog is a movie based on figments of imagination.. which slum has kids speaking fluent english?! so what if the movie highlights slums- its only a fictional movie.. and what if tourists come on that basis.. we shatter their airy dreams about how poor india is.. its a fact mocked even in Munnabhai MBBS. why not ban that? its a show of how corrupt our system is and how easily a man can get away with doing anything.. go ahead.. protest.. try banning those movies!.. its similar to the scene created by "the da vinci code"- it was a fiction novel that stirred the pope in his seat in vatican city.. how did fiction suddenly become the truth and challenge facts?

Obviously SMD is a fiction, but the fact is that the issues and life shjown in it is close to reality. If you have ever been to a mumbai slum(or even close to it) you wont say it is far from truth. The question is how long we can deny whats happening in our country and be happy with NRI millionaiers stories and poor hollywood rip offs.

SDM is hame on India,
it should b banned, it just a western movie, who like to see india as backward,
Yes, Poverty is big issue in India, but we cant showcase that, nd even if its showcased, we should oppose it, because its our internal problem, no one from US/UK is coming to feed those slum peoples.
And shame on those indian actors who acted in it, and also celebrated
