well this review is not from Raja Sen it is from "Chandrima Pal" commercial success is different from critical acclaim.

i think every critic trashed it... anywys talkin abt superhit.. it may be a hit on box office bcoz of advance bookin n hype created to make ppl watch it for atlst 1 tym (jus like cc2c) but muvie really Sux..

U gotta wait for a week atleast to really know the fate of the movie..it has grossed 24.5 Cr INR (it translates into probably 18 cr INR nett.)over the weekend which is par for the course for a 2000 prints release. To recover 60 crore investment and make money, it needs to make good money for 2 weeks atleast.
The idea of many movie makers/distis is simple..release the movie with huge number of prints and make quick bucks before people know they have been conned royally:)
Kambakkht Ishq is doing extraordinary business all over. The film started phenomenal in the North and excellent elsewhere but by afternoon and late afternoon shows the film is recording extraordinary collections practically all over the country.
The media reviews are negative on the film but the paying public seems to be giving it the thumbs up though Monday collections will give better idea of public response. The film has been running for a few shows as yet but at looking at the huge release and the collections so far the film looks set to cross the 25 and 26 crore nett weekend collections of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Singh Is Kinng respectively.
The record Friday to Sunday collections including paid previews of Ghajini were 32 crore nett and this target may be tougher to reach.
The much-awaited biggie KAMBAKKHT ISHQ started with a bang last night. The film grossed 100% collections in paid previews on Thursday night. In Mumbai alone, the paid previews were held at 62 screens and the film garnered 100% collections. On Friday morning, the early morning shows, i.e. 9.30 am / 10 am shows opened to 90% - 95% occupancy. Places like Rohtak [East Punjab circuit] collected Rs. 55,000 nett against Rs. 60,000 house full capacity. Amritsar will be collecting Rs. 1 lac, which is over-capacity by 200/250 audience. Lucknow was 90% - 95% in morning shows. The audience report is very positive.
Believe it or not, a KAMBAKKHT ISHQ mania has swept across the nation. The film has opened to an overwhelming response and at the end of Day 1, it was clear that the film would surpass the opening weekend business of SINGH IS KINNG and at places, would be at par with GHAJINI, especially in North India. In fact, the film could well turn out to be Akshay's biggest opener so far. While the industry response is mixed [like always… what's new about it?], the audience feedback is very positive.
Superb movie review! I have never really understood what Mr. Raja writes on Rediff. But you, Ms. Pal, were not only lucid and pedantic, but very accurate too. All I can say is, since the last few movies I have seen of Akki, I feel like the moth who keeps falling in the fire.. He's a great actor no doubt; its time he chooses the script over the movies and not vice versa
The movie is not more that a garbage bag. It was more like a c grade movie. The songs seemed , the the lyricist , musician and singer were made to wake up in the middle of night and record the songs. Comedy was out of place.... Vulgarity and cheapness was at its height and were unnecessary places. Sylvester stallone was made to act like a "Stallion" ...giving much needed masala ...and was just next to "Dharam paji of West"... What to tell about the kisses... it seemed that Akshay did this movie just to kiss and prove it to Imran Hashmi .. Especially the last kissing scene were useless, it just showed lust and no love...Karina was sexy, amrita was sexy too in bikinies at least she is expert in that. Overall movie is not worth watching even on pirated dvd, forget multiplex....Luckily I got a free ticket for multiplex. And I am sure Akshay is surely moving right to the bottom....such a disaster. Overall i shall give Kambakt ishq 1/2 *
the movie is atotal entertainer..using words like virgin, s*x, b**bs etc se movie vulgar nai hoti.. sure it is not a family movie but friends together will enjoy it..we indians need to grow up.. par akki ne kareena ke poore maje le liye
