by lax yopr on Feb 24, 2009 05:55 PM  | Hide replies

Most probably, she is going to end-up like Aish, Mallika etc, who were just a small blip on the radar.

Just remember this, its very, very difficult for an non-american girl to make it in hollywood. Americans wont just accept a foreign-face with foreing accent. She might do some memorable roles in some good movies, but commercially she wont work just because she is not an american.
For that matter, even europeans find it difficult to succeed in hollywood, though they look the same as americans.

This is just a 2 mins fame & fortune. Then she is coming back to Mumbai.

There is difference here. Her name is not an Indian name and also a christian. And also according to see in the TV i think she does not have any attitude problem.

And she wont be having much problems with exposing. See one more Aishwarya acted in Indian roles and also predominantly in foreign directors of Indian origin so there is lot of difference.

We can frieda go high places in her career. But he should loose inhibitions.

Yeah, too bad Ingrid Bergman, Brigit Bardot, Penelope Cruz, Michelle Yeoh, and so many other non-Americans with foreign accents just couldn't crack the American market.

Well, his films aren't shown in places with sawdust floors, bedsheets for projection screens, and goats & cows in the back row. Try going uptown. Allen is cultural icon in USA. Freida rules!

Culture is not just about gods and goddesses and stupid religious traditions. It's about arts, literature, acting, music, science and all creative aspects also and Amrerica in it's relatively shorter history has proved itself to be in forefront of all those. America has been a birthplace of numerous creative, artistic and scientific movements.

Why are Indians so defensive? I never said anything about India not having any culture!!

Future of Indias film indutry is in shifting to English
by NamoUdupiSrikrishna on Feb 24, 2009 05:27 PM  | Hide replies

Future of Indias film indutry is in shifting to English, to be global in nature.

Indian professionals, scietists and thinkers have succeeded asnd recognised when they started doing their bwork and expressing their talent in a globally recognised language, that is english. Indian film industry has to come out of the its over dependence of hindi and regional languages and has to shift to English to be global, for more exposure, for survival and to show case its originality, before outsiders export their products for our large englsh enabled audience. English is the language which has won the battle of dominance in world and when we adopt it we too are part of that. Otherwise bollywood will face the fate of Spanish, French, German or rabic language movies. English is the common language for Indians and it is foreighn language to every Indian, love it, marry it, reproduce it and make it your own to succeed.

English is the global medium of communication for the new millenium. make it yours, Bollywood, then surive and succeed. Make Indiam movies with Indian stories, Indian stars, Indian settings, Indian songs, Indian technology in Indian English. This is the way to go, get recognised and to success.

Jai Hind,

Re: Re: Future of Indias film indutry is in shifting to English

you are mistaken, sorry to say that.
Hind represets a people, not the language hindi. If that were the case, India might have ben 250 countries by now, after independence.

Hind is a people, though it reffers to present day pakistan, afghanistan and little bit of nort India, it is now a name for all present day India, it is ok but the day it represents hindi, India is 100 peaces, remember, dont be a frog in the well.

Good question which answers every body who were wondering why Indian movies did not get Oscar. They are missing the point that Slumdog was a hollywood movie though the story revolves around MUmbhai. Now Boyle should make his version of movies like Guide.I am sure it will get rave reviews.
