Re: Slumgirl Indiana

80% Bollywood flicks show slums, drug trafficing, prostitution in some way or the other. Why don't we cry foul then???? Why don't we think they are highlighting the ugly side of our country???
Just because this film was made by a foreigner, we are bashing the west. Actually, it hurts our ego that many thing have been exposed to the world.
If we are so sensitive with these kind of issues, we should take on our own film makers first.

Babun Pape
We expect more from Dany
by Babun Pape on Feb 24, 2009 06:42 AM

Dany should make us proud making some porno in India. Why not he makes movies on innocent Talibanian and Iraqi civilians, tribes and children who died of due to hunger fasting starvation epidemic and devastating bombardment mercilessly on their motherland due to their no fault ? If Laden did some mistakes they should have driven him out and punished publically ? It doesn't mean that you will proceed systemically to ruine the whole race corporately and collaborately. British are interested to point out and blame India only because it possesses majority of poor Mullas and so called insane retarded Hindus. India is sheltering feeding and clothing such a huge population generously ? Did they have such a big heart ever ? Whole world should protest against this movie.

Future of Indias film indutry is in shifting to English,
by NamoUdupiSrikrishna on Feb 24, 2009 04:22 AM

Future of Indias film indutry is in shifting to English, to be global in nature.

Indian professionals, scietists and thinkers have succeeded asnd recognised when they started doing their bwork and expressing their talent in a globally recognised language, that is english. Indian film industry has to come out of the its over dependence of hindi and regional languages and has to shift to English to be global, for more exposure, for survival and to show case its originality, before outsiders export their products for our large englsh enabled audience. English is the language which has won the battle of dominance in world and when we adopt it we too are part of that. Otherwise bollywood will face the fate of Spanish, French, German or rabic language movies. English is the common language for Indians and it is foreighn language to every Indian, love it, marry it, reproduce it and make it your own to succeed.

English is the global medium of communication for the new millenium. make it yours, Bollywood, then surive and succeed.

Slumdog Millionaire... really deserves the Oscars...
by Nikhil Arora on Feb 24, 2009 04:17 AM  | Hide replies

I am really shocked how some fellow Indians have blasted this masterpiece. You cant be-little the amazing achievement of this SDM team, who has captured vividly the pulse of a vagrant, the enigma of a poor kid, the dreams and hopes of underdogs. Words really fail to express the magnanimous potrayal, a truly chef-d'oeuvre classicist.
Its easy to blast people, but see who are making fun of this movie. A bunch of losers, who in the comfort of their Foreign Currencies, plush office, rich decors dont even want to get a touch of slum-dewellers in their elan car. They want to enjoy a mushy dinner in am upscale restaurant, or cajole her comfort in a multiplex, forgetting about 60% country-men living in BPL. These guys would write ideological blogs, fight about Muthalik's holliganism, Nisha Susan's chaddies, Israel issues, forgetting about poor suffering around. They would bargain their best to reduce a few rupees in the local frut-stall, but zippily spend thousands for their sweet-heaert's lingerie.
Am also shocked to read Big B's blog whogse family is politically aligned to the most-corrupt party of India and his daughter-in-law cavorting in prurient, skimpy garb to get West's attention. Please people with a half-brain should also try to realize the real truth. There is a limit of hypocrisy from these overrated megalomaniacs.
Its nothing wrong to limn reality, whosoevr does it reckons adulation not brick-bats.
SLUM-DOG-MILLIONAIRE... Jai Ho....

if anyone deserve oscar, it is the indian politcan. these are the people who made slum, poor in this country. Without them we would not seen this film and won award. if you think logically it is a shame to politcian who ruled or ruling this country and still not uplift the society.
