Another megalomaniac, self-obsessed moron joins the SDM basher
There are lots of movies which are based on crime and low life of Bronx. You just need to gain a little more knowledge, rather than following a group of morons....
1. A Bronx Tale --> a De Niro classic on Bronx crime vicinity
2. Summer of Sam --> a crime thrilled based on Bronx
3. I Like It Like That --> poverty infested life of immigrants in Bronx

Wanna know more??? Also dont cveompare Bronx with Dharavi...
Bronx has 30% population below poverty level. Come out of your cubicle, view the world outside your curtain of luxury. Visualize the lives of our poor Indian people. If you cant help them, keep your mouth shut and stop criticizing people who are helping them. At least for SDM so many slum-dewellers have earned a better living, getting a considerbale period of free education.

Behave like a human...

you are an insult to sardar patel's name! he is the one who thought us not to think what other think and do what is your dharma! fight if u have to fight to satisfy ur dharma!
if u think what they have shown in SM is not entirely true, then u are a denialistic as the porkis! drive down mumbai and see! it is a city where inspite of the worst living conditions, dreams of many are attained! not by hemming and hawing....but by working hard, tirelessly and believing in fate!

In my view- Professor Babun
by Babun Pape on Feb 24, 2009 07:15 AM  | Hide replies

Dany should make us proud making some dirty adult movies in India. Why not he makes movies on innocent Talibanian and Iraqi civilians, tribes and children who died of hunger fasting starvation epidemics and devastating bombardment mercilessly done on their head and motherland for their no fault at all? If Laden did some mistakes they should have driven him out from his cave and punished him publically ? It doesn't mean that you will proceed systematically to ruine the whole race corporatively and collaboratively. British are interested to point out and blame on India only because unlike them it possesses majority of poor insane retarded people of diverse culture and religion and it is not much concerned about the opposite one specifically. India is sheltering feeding and clothing such a huge population generously ? Did they have such a big heart ever ? Whole world should protest and boycott this movie and go against these mean minded Britishers. Shame for them.

The best movie deserved the best award.. SDM is best
by Nikhil Arora on Feb 24, 2009 07:10 AM  | Hide replies

I am really shocked how some fellow Indians have blasted this masterpiece. You cant be-little the amazing achievement of this SDM team, who has captured vividly the pulse of a vagrant, the enigma of a poor kid, the dreams and hopes of underdogs. Words really fail to express the magnanimous potrayal, a truly chef-d'oeuvre classicist.
Its easy to blast people, but see who are making fun of this movie. A bunch of losers, who in the comfort of their Foreign Currencies, plush office, rich decors dont even want to get a touch of slum-dewellers in their elan car. They want to enjoy a mushy dinner in am upscale restaurant, or cajole her comfort in a multiplex, forgetting about 60% country-men living in BPL. These guys would write ideological blogs, fight about Muthalik's holliganism, Nisha Susan's chaddies, Israel issues, forgetting about poor suffering around. They would bargain their best to reduce a few rupees in the local frut-stall, but zippily spend thousands for their sweet-heaert's lingerie.
Am also shocked to read Big B's blog whogse family is politically aligned to the most-corrupt party of India and his daughter-in-law cavorting in prurient, skimpy garb to get West's attention. Please people with a half-brain should also try to realize the real truth. There is a limit of hypocrisy from these overrated megalomaniacs.
Its nothing wrong to limn reality, whosoevr does it reckons adulation not brick-bats.
SLUM-DOG-MILLIONAIRE... Jai Ho....

Watch some good movies, develop a good taste and then make comments.. its is utterly a mediocre movie and have been commmercially hyped. Watch some European, Japanese and Korean movies or even other Hollywood or some good Indian movies..if you have the intellect to understand or appreciate them.. I am sure you will change your viewpoint. Money, business, superficiality, media hype is the call of the day.. I do not understand how the newsline says Indian conquers the world. Except for A.R Rahman and the other Indian, where really has India conquered the world. Such misleading and untrue statements are utterly disgusting!! I personally do not feel that showing poverty and slums in India are the reasons why the movie should not be appreciated but the movie itself is a below average, mediocre one which certainly does not deserve to win so many awards.

OMG here comes one BONG Communist... a self-proclaimed intelligent who understands nothing but communist manifesto, a concotioned moron who rallies for West-Asian peace, when Bengal is being the worst place for business.
Come out of your shell.. you reptiliastic commie,.. I knw in ur mind u also luv anythng made in US but a prevaricator of first order to accept the reality. Enough is enough if u cant appreciate a good thing, keep ur mouth shut and watch a *world-class* movie made in Cuba/Bolivia/China.

ANIL KAPOOR MADE A FOOL OF HIMSELF
by whitesnake on Feb 24, 2009 07:10 AM  | Hide replies

After Steven Spielberg announced that Slumdog Millionaire had won Best Picture last night, did you happen to notice which hilarious Bollywood egotist was the first one to the stage? Of course it was serial podium rusher Anil Kapoor! Once Danny Boyle and producer Christian Colson arrived at the microphone, they had to motion for the film's cast members to follow them — but not Anil, because, somehow, incredibly, like a pompadoured bolt of lightning, faster than a poop-covered slumdog, he had already made it out of his seat and up the stairs. How did he do it? Did he bodysurf over the first ten rows? Had he just been hiding under the podium the entire night? See the amazing video — which will surely be studied by Olympic sprinters and professional illusionists for decades — after the jump.

Yes you are absolutely right..i also observed the same. None of the Bollywood ones have personally won any award for this movie..not Anil Kapoor himself. A.R.Rahman actually does not belong to Bollywood (nomatter how much it tries to associate with him. This is the problem with Bollywood. They are extremely superficial and hungry for media hype. Its atleast a great thing that Anil Kapoor was chosen for a role. Unless Bollywood actualy has nothing to do here.

My great comrade fellow Indian, dont forget Bollywood never supported SDM. The so-called numero-uno of Bollywood Amitabh Bacchan was blasting this movie, followed by the bimbette Shilpa and so many. And update your knowledge ... two more Indians called Sampooran Singh Kalra and Resul Pookutty also won who have worked mostly in the Hindi film industry, alias Bollywood. Oh sorry the first name should be unknown to your Marxist brain.... he is the Great Gulzar...

80% Bollywood flicks show slums, drug trafficing, prostitution in some way or the other. Why don't we cry foul then???? Why don't we think they are highlighting the ugly side of our country???
Just because this film was made by a foreigner, we are bashing the west. Actually, it hurts our ego that many thing have been exposed to the world.
If we are so sensitive with these kind of issues, we should take on our own film makers first.

I am really surprised at your title which reads "India Conquers the Oscars".. Come on ppl, take a break, we dont have anything to be proud of here.. Slumdog, a HOLLYWOOD movie has made it big.. Just because it was shot in India we cannot celebrate the awards.. All what we should be doing is, give Rahman and Reshul a warm welcome and concentrate on making good movies..

We do this everytime, take the case when Sunita Williams made it to the ISS... We claimed her to be the Daughter of this land, when she is an American and when our govt did NOTHING to help her achieve it !!!

It s time for us to get out of this mentality of making false claims and make movies that can bag the "Best foreign movie" award soon...
