Let us not hate each other
by blue on Feb 24, 2009 05:11 AM  | Hide replies

Can we all behave like grownups and appreciate and enjoy the success achieved by AR and Pokutty, instead of fighting and bringing regional stuff. He won it on international stage and they look at them as Indians than anybody. Then why we are fighting with each other. If AR started his career in Tamil, Bollywood made him big and got the international exposure and at the same time everybody in India enjoyed his music and we all will continue to that whoever he was. Even we enjoy western music even pakistani music if it is good. So let us enjoy the moment and congratulate them on their success.

U GO and tell the same to fellow maharashtrians. we from south love sachin but I have seen this kind of bias only in north / west. At the same time, folks from south, be patriotic, a great man from India has made it to the biggest level. Let us not fight whether Bollywood made him small or big..hahahaha...

Though Rahman is great musician, I do not know what was so great about Jai Ho. Cannot believe it is best song in the world. Even Gajini's music by Rahman was much better. Maybe Indian music was novel to westerners. I can tell you if Slumdog was to be considered for Filmfare, it will not win.

Future of Indias film indutry is in shifting to English
by NamoUdupiSrikrishna on Feb 24, 2009 04:35 AM  | Hide replies

Future of Indias film indutry is in shifting to English, to be global in nature.

Indian professionals, scietists and thinkers have succeeded asnd recognised when they started doing their bwork and expressing their talent in a globally recognised language, that is english. Indian film industry has to come out of the its over dependence of hindi and regional languages and has to shift to English to be global, for more exposure, for survival and to show case its originality, before outsiders export their products for our large englsh enabled audience. English is the language which has won the battle of dominance in world and when we adopt it we too are part of that. Otherwise bollywood will face the fate of Spanish, French, German or rabic language movies. English is the common language for Indians and it is foreighn language to every Indian, love it, marry it, reproduce it and make it your own to succeed.

English is the global medium of communication for the new millenium. make it yours, Bollywood, then surive and succeed.

It will be a disaster if we go english. look at the hundreds of idiots who turned beggers after trying to become english rock stars from India. Hindi is a popular medium now and many abroad in Africa,Middle east and Asia Pacific sees hindi films for not the language but for the sheer colour, songs and other glamour, and that credit you will have to give to Indian film makers. We are a truly international film industry may be second only to hollywood. That itself is a great achievment and am sure the acceptence level of our movies will only grow higher from here.

No doubt English should be learnt & adopted for the purpose of knowledge acquisition globally, but we need not westernise our Indian music which is known for its originality & richness. And it is in every one's knowledge that all Rahman's musical hits have to a great extent the tinge of western music which perhaps has drawn his closer to conferment of Oscar Awards.Any way it is an international honour to an Indian music director and we need to congratulate him for that. The humility of Rahman,in this context, also needs to be commended. His dedication of the awards to his mother is very much befitting since mother is the God before us.In fact,it was correctly said that since God cannot make his appearance every where & with every one,he created "mother" in his place as "substitute" for the benefit of human beings.

The whole world knows AR Rahman as an Indian. Not as some Tamilian, Malayali or as a Maratha etc. Be Indian and think like an Indian. Thanks.

Why wasn`t Sukhwindar not included in Best score
by Guest on Feb 24, 2009 04:27 AM  | Hide replies

why did he fogot to include Sukhwindar (original singer of the score, but he included Gulzaar), I don't know what was in his mind.
May be he was trying to confuse american crowds by framning himself as the original singer by singing it at Oscars.

just an observtion, I may be wrong !!!

Pak and Indian Muslims:No Comparison
During the partition:Fine there was, but today, its the next generation.
Indians practise cultural coexistence, not the Pakis. I wish the Pakis were more educated in general. Pak is a failed state and 'SWAT' is another nail in its coffin. Now there is complete free breeding of terrorists in SWAT.
HATS off to RAHMAN, AnilKapoor and others...
We dont need foreign endorsements to prove ourselves, but awards are always welcome and at international levels stand as certificates of greateness. KUDOS!!

how about you, why shouldn't you leave INDIA? what have you done that these so-called two haven't done, and vice versa!!
don't blindly castigate them! they are better than lots of indians who criticize others by sitting at home!
