What a beautiful way to insult a country.. yet get praises from those very people who got insulted. Just like under British rule, when Indians used be called 'Dogs' ('Dogs & Indians not allowed' - Remember such signs), now we are getting called 'slum-dogs', and my fellow moronic citizens are happy at their new names !! Any selfrespecting man, would be feel disgusted & insulted.
Nevertheless, I feel happy for AR Rahman. because his individual-talent got recognized.
This is a great ocassion for the whole world and all Indians. It is time the world took notice of the music of India, talents in india. Many knew Indians by their software skills and for their being doctors and brains that moved to USA With the Slump in the fortunes of USA I am sure many will rush to India for a new lease of life to make their name in the new economy. It is time the world took notice of the Capabilities of Indians and honour them for what they are worth and not look down upon for their skin or their past.
I wish the team of Slumdog M for their brilliant achievement and the Dawn of a new era of Indian Music. Kudos to A R REHMAN for his genius.
Let The new India provide a bigger stimulus to the Economies of the World.

The Indian people got the habit of having obssessed with dream like pictures of bollywood. When a film taken on the real situation of the people of India.. everybody is objecting on it. SDM is a real picture and shooted in real situation. The sets of the film was not created.. it is real we have to agree that.
It is shame that we are not bothered about how the people is living in such slums, but when somebody put it into a film.. everybody feel shame on that..
There are many films which give a very very bad impression on india made by indians..

people like you would have complained even if had not congragulated those guys.
It is the fact that 80% of the india's populations are poor and 50% are below poverty line . The balance 20% are empowered and rule India.We should know the real fact and work against poverty and aristocracy. Our politiacians are trying to hide these facts and approach us for vote saying india is shining .. Think who is real fools here. So this Oscar win is for 80% of India's poor people. Let them celebrate that. Jai ho SDM and all crews . PM has done very right.

About 25% of India is poor and 70% of Mumbai is slums. But this film is not about statistics. It is a real story and about possibilities. And for people who are critical of the Western perception please read Vikas Swaroop's book. Slumdog M is a faithful adaptation of Swaroop's book. This is a sign of India boldly accepting reality. And for now let's treat this as a work of art and how ARR richly deserves the two oscars he won.

We are people of India and we must oppose and boycott such type of stupid films that are made solely for making fun of India and its people.West has made this film to make the fun of India and its people. Tell me why the people of India living in slums called as dogs.And those who say that this film is the true mirror of India do those people know that there is slum in the west also and they project only beautiful things of there country and project India as slum and backward country.Guys if we are true Indian we must join hand in hand against this film and should boycott this film.
what is it? is there any thinking in mind of india as how they r being insulted? u do not deserve it like this how it is given! in fact, rehman gave his worst music in "slumdog.." , compared to his earlier music in 'jodha akbar', 'lagan', roza, bombay etc! freida pinto acted as normal as a little less from new comer in hindi film! story line is hypothetical! jamal was asked all the question from his life experience only! got up story! poverty show? hundred times more poverty , reality were shown in mrinal sen, shyam benegal movie! do u want to tell that indian could not make such a film to get a oscar till date! if the talent is appreciated then, the every film of satyajit roy's, mrinal sen's , shyam benegal etc would have got oscar award! was there no merit in "mother india", "lagan" or "TZP"etc brilliant indian film or other indian language? don't u find any indian film to get nominated for oscar untill a foreigner make movie on india's povery porn? if u r a self respected and nationalist, definitely u will not be proud for these 8 oscar as we have the believe in ourself that we had made, will be making good film more than 'slumdog indian, please understand, where u r being striked! i would definely tell that to-day is our humiliation day internationally! i would not have bothered if foreigner r insulting us onesidedly in their own area(outside india) but i am bothered as how shamelessly my indians r singing their song! do u deserve to be slum dog?

Agree with u completly. I was totally agasht at the movie. Infact, i didnt even watch it fully... it was direct attack on us Indians. The movie aimed at showing the world how poor we are... how can India claim to be a growing super-power?? Ofcourse, all countries have their problems... we have ours too.. & it will take time to solve them. Even in US they have slums/ghettos. SLM is a disgusting movie. Like u said, we have far better movies than it. But I am happy for ARR.. who comes from a humble background.

Hold On sir. Don't live in the state of denial. Even Rahman in one of his interviews said that we can't solve the issue of poverty by hiding it. You accept that these kind of people we have in India. What is your effort to solve the problem. Do you know how many people are pouring in to help the Dharavi people now after watching the film. The film has brought the cat out of the bag. Now everybody knows about it. So there is some hope that we eradicate povery in India later than never. Coming to your point of Rahman has composed even better songs in his other films. It is like saying, India has won the cricket match and man of the match is awarded to sachin for his match winning knock of 52 runs. Will you ask that why you give MoM for scoring just 52 runs, as he has scored 150 in some other matches in which India lost. There are slums in every country including US. Thatz why the film is so popular across the world as the people can associate the film with their country and people. To conclude, I want to know why you accepted Mother Teresa in India if you feel humiliated after watching Slumdog Millionaire.

i being an indian dont feel he has done any injustice to our country, infact he deeply got into the roots, no bollywood director apart from madhur bhandarkar could have done gr8 job like this. If ppl are making issue then they must stand up and help our govt in clearing poverty. So is anyone decided to take charge of removing poverty & slums from our country. Jai Hind

Don't say Jai Hind.Study this carefully.This film deserves no awards and the award has been given to this film only because this film makes the fun of India and its people.How many songs of this film do you remember and will rate as better then the films like Tum Bin and kaho naa pyaar hai.

what kind of f... people are we all.. enlighten me...we are naturally dirty, we have the largest slums in the world, the most racist people in the world n believe that it's the other people. we've been blaming others all our lives.when are we gonna make a stand and accept the truth is not now.
How is Raj and Bal Thackery reacting to slumdog award. Now who will claim supremacy towards the slums or are they gonna hold a rally to protest againt the oscar committee for giving this award and insulting india

Every country in the world has ghetto's and slums.US of A cannot have huts made of grass and weeds or plastic because of the cold climate there.There are instances of people dying of frostbite in US also.The difference is that our people do not want to deliberately improve their standard of living.There is free education available for everyone and specially the girl child.But what do we do?Criticise because our politicians asked some people to go and protest aginst Slumdog Millionaire.The same politicians will now celebrate and even welcome the actors who got India its oscars and give them Awards(Maybe Padma Shri).And what will the people who earlier protested get?some sweets distributed by the same politicians or maybe some loose cash which will be forthcoming from would be visitors to their gheto's to make documetaries about the slums which won India it's glory. Time to wake up and realise its time for us to get some educated politicians like what is shown in TATA tea's JAGORE ad.

Murali, "people deliberately do not want to improve standard of living"...Wow which world are you living in? So all these slums around us are because people just enjoy being poor! Nobody is hiding poverty in the USA, there are umpteen number of films on homeless. Just recently Will Smith acted in 'The pursuit of happiness'. Art should be free to portray both reality and fiction.

President is busy sleeping at the moment..Sonia's Personal Maid (PM) congratulates the slum dogs....That is bcoz slum dogs are much better the Personal Maid (PM)..lets hope that stray dogs from slums go and bite all our politicians such that these politicians flee to paapistaan..We shud vote for dogs, dogs are mans best friend coz they are loyal....dogs will do better than our politicians...also dogs have b0lls to attck enemies
