With respect to Aamir and his past work, I really did not understand why is this hype on this film ? This is surely a overhyped film compared to previous films. RDB was a master piece and so was TZP But 3 idiots is just like any other normal bollywood flick which just has some masala, some acting and some kind of story in it. Full of Toilet Jokes and silly jokes on poor families.. this film may not have done even half the business if it was not for Aamir. JUST A ONE TIME SEE. Specially if you have recently seen Avatar.

avtaar was a visual spectacle but storyline had shades of matrix and at times were boring not half as good as titanic

Huh! I may sound like a doubting Thomas, but it seems too coincidental that Sukanya Verma has personally known two people who are almost the zerox of the characters in '3 Idiots'
The first guy she talks about - a Rancho-like genius who's now running a school in Shimla. The second, a guy who gave up engineering to become, of all, a wildlife photographer.
For all our rants about Raja Sen and his reviews, we all know he is going nowhere and rediff wont fire him. I had been holding back opinion about Raja Sen giving him the benefit of the doubt till now but his latest review of 3 IDIOTS makes you wonder what is he smoking.The movie is thoroughly enjoyable granted you have to give it some cinematic concessions but then when don't you have to? AVATAR that Sen glowed about and which is a cinmatice marvel technologically, also needed a lot of leeway to appreciate it. If Sen could give OSO a glowing tribute and engineer a feature " Why we cant wait for My Name is Khan?", but still give 3 IDIOTS the lukewarm review, it becomes very clear as to where Rediff's and Mr Sen's tilt lies. Mr Sen, it is one thing to have personal favorites but as a reviewer, you owe it to your job to give an impartial review. I for one dont buy the bull crap about SRK and his influence on rediff. The man is too big a superstar to worry about a small site like rediff. The SRK bias in Sen's reviews is inherently his own. And Mr Sen, please write reviews that strike a chord with the average reader. You write reviews as though you are writing for the New York Times. And if you still dont get it, please read or see Rajeev Masand's reviews on CNN-IBN. Rarely are his reviews biased or so off base as yours. The talent gap between SRK and Aamir in the latest releases is too big to plaster over with candy reviews for SRK.
3 IDIOTS continues to surprise and shock! The Tuesday figures are in the range of Rs. 8.75 cr. to Rs. 9 cr., which is bigger than the Friday numbers of all biggies that opened this year, including LOVE AAJ KAL. The film has now crossed Rs. 60 cr. mark and is heading for a Rs. 75 cr. to Rs. 80 cr. Week 1. Unbelievable, but true!
Meanwhile, the Australia weekend numbers have also poured in. The film has collected an astonishing Aus. $ 3,98,595 [approx. Rs. 1.67 crores] on 20 screens, with the per screen average working out to Aus. $ 19,930. The numbers are bigger than the lifetime gross of most biggies.
