I wonder what happened to rediff?? I remember, I read the review of 3 Idiots on rediff the very next day of the film's release. It was criticized really badly by Raja Sen, and the Rating was given 2. So is this a second review?? When I read the first review, I thought how Idiot a person can be, who rates 2 to such a brilliant, once in a lifetime movie? And even a nonsense can't write such thing about Amir-Raju-Vidhu's 3Idiots.

dear never go by these critics, though we generally do, because you do not get the real picture. go by your own intellect. thanks for such a nice comment.
Making a good movie based on a book is not a simple task and Hirani and team have done a great job of this. But this movie would get no less credit if they acknowledge the fact that its adapted from 'Five point someone' rather than call it an 'original story'. I'm surprised that the author, Chetan Bhagat, on whose book this movie is based, is not even mentioned in this review!!
Chatur is the best character of the movie undoubtedly. He takes the cake of the movie. He is even better than Aamir in acting abilities and to keep the interest in film alive. Also, his role is pivotal for the movie.
Vidhu Vinod Chopra is a big movie moghul in whose office Chetan Bhagat had to sign the contract then and there without giving a thought to the content of the contract (according to Bhagat on TV). Chetan Bhagat should have read and understood contract clearly and VVC should have made a comprehensive contract unlike what he did which looked like a clandestine rental agreement. The contract should have credited Chetan Bhagat in the beginning. Haven't these guys heard of adapted screenplay from books and they should have made a contract accordingly. The copyright culture is yet to catch up with us Indians.

I agree, VVC is himself a great director(parinda), no doubt. Hirani too is a great. But there was no harm is giving due credit to a awsome book from where where you have made this film. I have read the book and never ever have i liked a book so much. Last thing aamir should have read the book and then he would have understood what they have made is the almost the book. He would have felt the same as i and many more have felt. and what VVC did in the press meet was alright. some press people are worthy of being thrown out of this world.

I liked the movie. Songs are good. I will remember the movie for quite a long time. It looks like Aamir will be next most versatile Actor after Amitabh Bacchan.

Songs are OK, but thats good for movie so they dont distract from the main theme. Movie is very good. Not advisable for Kids below 14yrs of age though.
The movie has very little similarity to the book. The author had signed a contract with the producers and to now raise issues whioch were sorted out right form the start is unethical. I would agree that the author is raising this issue now to get people to buy and read his book! A clever IIMA graduate's ploy!

The movie has a LOT of similarity to the book.. granted it is not an exact copy of the book, but all major incidents and turning points are the same.. the movie is good no doubt.. but the story credit goes to chetan bhagat.. the story was not written by abhijat joshi.. infact he has even lifted one liners from other places(5 point someone and other books/mags).. (using pencil in space--direct copy from a reders digest joke about americans n russians). the author signed a contract after being told that the movie is 3-5% the book..so he has all rights to raise his issue now.. and lastly those who wanted to read the book have already read it.. (it came out in 2004 its been 5 yrs..get a life..)no one will go buy the book and read it just because of this controversy..the author doesnt need to publisize his book now..

Chetan has already forgiven hirani and others for what they have done to him.He has emerged as a hero and Hirani and company as villain after this controversy.
Was dissapointed. Too much action/violence, just like any Sohail Khan movie. Only good parts were the heroine , Zoe Saldana,of the movie. Even Sam Worthington wasted.
