It is not sure whether Gulzar should get 20 more oskars or not but you deserve at least two/three oskars for your beautiful ugly analysis.

Perhaps you dont understand that Academy Awards (or Oscars) are essentially movie awards and not music awards. Best song/ best score awards are given to a song which has been best used by a Movie. So, a wonderful song in a crap movie wont fetch an Oscar. Also a beautiful song not properly used by the Movie would fail to fetch Oscars (thats why Bryan Adams didn't get an Oscar for 'Everything I do'). In either case, the onus is on the filmmaker to use the song properly. Thats why Oscar awards are never treated as an indicator of a musician's greatness - there are Grammy awards for that. So, a musician winning 10 Oscars wouldn't be placed in the same pedestal as a Director winning 1 Oscar unless the musician wins a few Grammy awards as well.

Maybe you've your own criterio for greatness. Without lyrics songs is nothing.. with songs and the film is nothing. Satyajit didnt win for direction. He won for lift-time work, which can also be influenced by the members of the academy.

If Satyajit didnt get oscar, who will know him even in India..? So if he is getting media coverage for this then Gulzar is also equally great if not greater.

Dude dont be dumb now. Oscar is only a recognition. I am sure you have not even seen any of his work. So stop comparing himn to Gulzar. If you want my advice, better ask Mr. Gulzar about your opinion.

No disrespect for Gulzar but you just cannot compare him to Satyajit Ray. Satyajit Ray made World Class movie with little money and resources that were avaialble in that time, also his brilliance was not linited to just movies. He was the all time most popular writer for children of Bengal and not only that he illustrated his books himself.

You are silly buddy! Don't let others know...be quiet so that at least u look intelligent!!
I feel its a part of the growing up process to indulge into the thrilling works of Satyajit Ray...both the movies and the books he wrote. It still has a nostalgic and dreamy touch to be going through his works even after so long...long live the genius!
