Satyajit Ray is a Godfather of Indian Film Industry. He waw the only person in India who took the Indian films to the global level. I am sure that there is no one in our country to compare with him.

Re: SRK is the real king of bollywood

It's because of people like you have crowned him for his full of utter nonsense movies which deal in love, love and only love and absolutely for no other cause! What the hell people would do with so much of love when there are some other important aspects to be showcased through movies.
Satyajit ray is my favorite and close to heart. And SRK is fun and smart actor i love to watch. Please dont post obscenities here. when googled this article will seen from people world over.
This is the joke of the century.....The other talents of Satyajit Ray are not mentioned in the article. He was one of the finest painter, music composer(both Western and Indian classical), fashion designer, script writer, set designer, bestseller writer and his knowledge about world affairs was unmatchable. he was a jack of all trade and master of all. Even the greatest fashion designer of India Sabyasachi Mukherjee dreams to do dress design of Ray's calibre. On the other hand, Shahrukh Khan is more of a showbiz, where cinema is less and business is more. Ray used to make neo-realistic films, where the characters are very similar to common people without any kind of superhuman traits. On the other hand, SRK makes only fantasy films. and talking about sophistication? I feel, most people think, dressing like a clown is sophistication.....Ray's sophistication was sophistication of mind.
Comparing SRK with Satyajit Ray is like comparing Himesh Reshamiya with Mozart, comparing Phulan Devi with Mahatma Gandhi and comparing Chetan Bhagat with Shakespeare. SRK can be popular, but Satyajit Ray is classic, which happens only once in perhaps 3 or 4 centuries.

saurabh tereko baat samajhti nahi kya.. ya english nahi samajhti ? Cant compare chetan B to shakespeare.. so what if he's not bad..!!!! he's in no way comparable to shakespeare.. got it?
This is a nice tribute by Rediff on the Bengali New Year's Day.Subho Nabobarsho to Bengalis around the world. At one point in time,Indian movies, understood worldwide were known by this one genius of a man, Satyajit Ray. It's a pity that he was not born in modern times, when oscars are being showered on India based films such as Slumdog. The lifetime achievement oscars was just a penance by the Oscar committee to not have conferred the same statuette earlier, when many filmmakers were inspired by him and made it to the Oscars. He also had won multiple Cannes and European and Asian Oscar equivalents. In some ways he was similar to Kaviguru Rabindranath Tagore, multifacted talent,a literary genius & poet, painter, musician and belonged to a great literary family. These facets are unknown beyond Bengal. Also, like Tagore[who was much much greater than 'Gitanjali'{Nobel prize winning literary creation}],his body of work beyond films is not known beyond Bengal and Bengalees, where he is revered as a God. His movies,on one hand touched the middle-class hearts,on the other had perfectly etched details, that were wow of the cinema purists. The most foolish thing seen in these messages is somebody comparing SR with SRK, each different and great,in their own way. You cannot compare Mozart,Bach with Maddonna/ Pandit Ravi Shankar&RD Burman/Star with a meteor. Satyajit Ray was a guiding light&set standards for work, globally,a talent ambassador for India.May his wisdom & name live long.

Not right to discuss SRK here. But if you watch Swades, Chak De India, etc you will change your mind. SRK is undoubtedly great. Period.
