Shahrukh no where near to AB
by Nitesh jain on Sep 12, 2008 11:47 AM  | Hide replies

Lot of people compares sharhrukh khan with amitabh bacchan but i beg to differ. The reason is simple he is nowhere near to amitabh when it comes to performance. He has copied whatever amitabh has done in the past now i challenge sharukh to do last lear.

Nice reply dude.

But I agree with Nitesh as far as SRK being an average actor is concerned. His roles have a common thread most of the times, and more often than not, you dont see the character but SRK in the movie. Even in Chak De India, there were a couple of occasions where he was given a little longer dialogus than he got for most of the time in that movie. There also he was more like a chocolate hero types rather than the intense and driven coach which he was supposed to be.

But having said all that, I would like to say here is that it is only his acting which leaves something to be desired. Few can match his screen presence. And that is the reason why he is called king khan. But being a Superstar is a lot different than being an Actor Par Excellence

You kow, in early 70's and 80's even AB had a single image of an angry young man. The reason is that if u r having box office sucess in a particular genre, y would anybody change that in the name of experimentation. As for AB, now since he no longer has to worry playong the lead roles or to carry a film, he ca experiment with a variety of roles.

That was a tag the press gave him, he had his list of more 'comic" roles too ( Chupke Chupke, Amar Akbar Anthony) as well as the serious ones. He also did a lot of Hrishida films that were not "masala" so he experimented too. The expectation for a AB film when he was at his peak was always high. not the case with SRK.

well i m writing here 'cause there was no reply button on BOSS CLASSIC's reply.

As far as SRK's comic bits are concerned, he overacts in them big time (Watch Duplicate, OSO, Main Hu Naa). And as far as being serious is concerned, he did a good job in Swades. No arguments on that. But in Chak De, like said earlier, he was not upto the mark.

He has the potential, which we saw in Swades, but because he always wants to do POSH roles, where he can show off his charm and persona (which is quite good) he has kept himself from being exploited fully. Also what makes people like AB more than SRK is the former's humble nature. Whicle SRK in known to be arrogant.

That's the case with SRK too. He had his comic bits in Badshaah and serious stuff in Swades and Chak De. In that era far few movies used to release, today if u see, there are virtually 2-3 movies releasing every friday

SRK is a dierctors man. While all his pathtic overacting comes out in all Karan Johar or Farah Khan movies, he was good actually good in movies like kabhi haan kabhi naa, badshah or Chak De.
Amitabh also had his share of overacting but he is far above SRK mainly becos of his selection of directors

I think this seals the debate.

It is Ab's humble nature that makes him a hit with all ages. While SRK has now started to mend his arrogant ways when he realised that this was resulting in commercial loss to him.

SRK's incident with Lataji is widely known, so i think noone can claim that he isnt (or wasnt) arrogant

Well SRK can never be compared to AB, as AB is the only actor who is still improving and getting quality work, with roles being written for him at 65, lets see where SRK will be when he is even 55.

Comparisons are odious esp. when you compare a veteran with a youngster(?)But we can enjoy their different styles. Formerly people used to say everyone copies Dilip Kumar, now it is big B. There is no end to it. Meanwhile let us enjoy the variety.
