Kamal the overacting actor!!Ex:heyram, mahanadhi, rajaparvai, guna, alavandhan, nammavar..except for michael madana kamarajan, his other so called comedy films are just ok..some of his films are overrated.

Dear Veeru Virumandi doesnt glorifies violence it try to depict the need for death sentences is a vital one or not which is an issue argued by the humanitarian sectors all over the world. He is an world class actor & thinker.Unfortunately he has been traped by you fellows giving hands for 5 songs 4 stunts 3 punch dialogues nasty masala concept films
Mohanlal should have got his next national award fro the movie thanmathra in which he was pushed aside to give the award to amithab bachan for Black.Upon your conscience dear indian...watch the movie Thanmathra and judge for urself who should ahve got the national award that year -mohanlal or big b. and dont worry about the language...u wont need it to understand the amazing performance of Mohanlal.

That was an Awesome Performance By LAL. Bachan is sure a star. But his BLACK was not at all a performance worth to be awarded, atleast by overlooking LAL's thanmatra.

Well tht ws long time ago and rediff posted the results and almost evry1 one said mohanlal shud have gottn the award. Haven't seen the movie.
But, havin watched black i fail to see why bachan got the award for over the top acting, and it wsn't alzheimer's disease bachan ws essayin but it ws parkinson's disease. Evn aamir khan himself statd tht bachan did go ovr the top for his role, whn tht role required subtle portrayin.
he makes funny with his age. He never accepts that he crosses 50. 48 years over after kalathur kannamma release. he was not 1 at that time of KK release. what to tell?
I do not understand the sentiments posted on Hindi and South Indian actors. Hindi film industry has good actors Ashok Kumar, Sanjeev Kumar, Dilip Kumar, Guru Dutt, Balraj Sahni, Om Puri, Naserrudin, Paresh Rawal, Dr Shreeram lagoo, Anupam Kher and even Bachchan. So who says South Indian actors are the best. Among Indian actresses Nargis, Waheeda, Meena Kumari, Nutan, Jaya Bhaduri, Sharmila Tagore, Rakhee, Smita Patil, Shabana Azmi, Kiran Kher, Farida Jalal, Tanuja. We should not say Hindi cinema can not compete with South Indian cinema. Evan Malyalayam cinema has not much better actresses what Hindi cinema Had. List me some good actresses and the kind of roles that they have done will you compare South Indian heroines then will bollywood. Or Name me a south Indian actor who has done variety of roles that like Ashok Kumar has done. Might be Hema or Vayjanythi made mark in Bollywood that is because of dance not talent. Bollywood still can take pride in one Nargis or Smita or Ashok Kumar or Sanjeev Kumar, we should not tell Bollywood has not talent. Guru Dutt is acclaimed actor cum director, we do not have one director cum actor that in south still? After seeing Kamal Haasan perform "Sagara Sangam" even Vaijayanthi Mala had criticised Kamal saying Mr Kamal does not know Bharat Natyam. Even the film maker who made the film did not say this, but told Kamal can do Bharat Natyam, dear all, classical dance is still more or large a women choice, I think Vaijaynthi Mala had observed

Padma Subramaniam, a renowned classical dancer south has appreciated kamal's dance in Sagara sangamam. Hello dude, its difficult to master the classical dance just for a movie. Its more than enough if the artist is able to bring the finer nuances in the movie...Did Mohanlal learn classical music for "Bharatham"? Think kamal did more than enough for Sagara Sangamam and he gave 200% justice to the character. Even kamal himself is a director cum actor...And you can definitely rate actresses like Savithri,Revathy,Suhasini, Radhika ,Shobhana and Saritha equally on par with the likes of kiron kher,Farida Jalal and Tanuja...And I just cant laugh more on your inclusion of Rakhee on the list of versatile actresses...What was her contribution to cinema other than playing a sober mother for the likes of Karan-Arjun and Ram-Lakhan?

Boss, Nice to see ur message. But don't put any messages without knowing the fact fully. We accept that Bollywood is also having talented artists. But it doesn't mean that there is no good artists in South India. If u speak about entire South India, then u'll find far far better artists there only than Bollywood. Fortunately South India has produced the finest actors of all time when comparing with Bollywood's fine actors. The incomparable Sivaji Ganesan, Prem Nazir, Nageshwara Rao, Dr.Rajkumar, S.S.Rajendran, MR Ratha, Nagesh, S.V.Ranga Rao, Nagaiyah, Balaiyah, Chandra Babu, N.S.Krishnan, Thangavelu, etc in actors, and again the incomparable Savithri, Padmini, Saratha, Sukumari, Manorama, SriPriya, SriVidya, K.R.Vijaya, M.N.Rajam, Kannaambal,etc in actresses have all graced in the past generation. In the present generation, the 2 best actors India have are Kamalhassan and Mohanlal. Fortunately, both are Southies. We can say so many. Kamalhassan, Mohanlal, Mammootty, Vikram, Surya, Dilip, Vishnuvardhan, Sharath Babu, Goundamani, Vivek, Chandrashekar, etc in Actors and Urvasi, Radhika, Sridevi, Sripriya, Parvathi, Manju Vaarier, Kushboo, Baupriya, Revathy, Meera jasmine, etc in Actresses. This is just to name few. I'm not saying that we are South is superior and North is inferior. I'm saying that North or South, it is India. All are equal. Glad to see that there are very few North vs South fights in this page. Usually such topics on south actors soon become a place for everyone to vent out their anger against others. I have seen it happen whenever the name 'Rajinikanth' is mentioned(God knows why this humble soul is hated so much by some in India). This clearly means Kamal Haasan is a fairly successful actor and is being admired by several north/east/west indians, not to mention that he has millions of fans in the south. There are at least half a dozen movies of his which have become mighty hits in Hindi - Saagar, Ek Duje Ke Liye, Appu Raja, Geraftar, Pushpak, Chachi 420, Hindustani. Some other movies though were not hits are critically accliamed - Hey Ram, Sadma. Though many others like Rajini, Chiru, Nagarjuna have acted in Hindi it is Kamal who has always been the most popular among all. After all, Ek Duje Ke Liye was released almost 30 years back and he is still considered a heartthrob in India!!!

kamal is a brilliant actor. he's the super actor of tamil cinema,rajinikanth the superstar. i haven't watched many of his movies, but whatever i have watched he is 2 gud. he is probably the only guy in india who combines being a heartthrob,a brilliant actor n also makes great movies.

As long as he is in public life he should also behave properly. You cant say thats his personal life. Its only personal if it remains personal and not when it is out in the open.
Kamal Haasan is a gifted artist, with multitude of talent in acting, writing and music. I wouldnt say all his movies are great, but he has the caliber to single-handedly carry the subject and make it a grand success. The Indian version of Mrs.Doubtfire (Chaachi 420/Avvai Shanmughi) is an example. His performance in Nayagan, Munram Pirai (Sadma), Indian, Guna, Appu-Raja (Apporva Sahodarargal), Pushpak,MahaaNadi etc speak for themselves.
I was going through some of the discussions here,where they say how these oldies can continue to be heroes. Now, would you ever put an end to this ? A leadrole in a film need not be heroic. Actors like Kamal, Mohanlal, Irfaan khan etc are there for their ability to act and carry the role throughout, not for their 6 packs abs or biceps or romantic looks.
Ofcourse there are times when these artists are put under those heroic roles, but in every such movies, you'll see atleast 10 minutes of their time spent on quality acting.
Stop sterotyping movies. A movie doesnt need a hero, it just needs some lead roles / theme

Whats wrong if an actor has a sixpack abs and is good looking. Were you guys not saying kamalahasan was looking good in his hey days and telling everyone that he is good looking and smart and other actors are not so good.
Now that he has become older you guys seem to be trotting some other territory like acting and all stuffs which is a bull-shit. According to me acting is behaving and not reacting or overacting!
All his movies r not doing well as her concentrating more on romancing with the heroine in his recent movies..!! He should realise the fact that he's getting old and should not compitt with the hotties like Emraan Hashmi in romancing with the heroines.

Excuse me Sir,which planet are u from? There was a movie called Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu released in 2006, which became the biggest hit of that year. the hero of this movie is Kamal Hassan. In 2005, there was a Kannada hit movie, Rama Shama Bhama starring Kamal.
