Niram/Nuvve Kavali, but then, why bother with those things?
by Discerning Watcher on Jul 28, 2008 10:19 AM

It sure is old wine. There are surely some cringe-worthy corny moments. It sure is 'inspired', and from multiple sources. It ain't Lagaan, and it sure ain't 'TZP'. But it wasn't meant to be. But should one care?

I say No. Btw, the audience also doesn't care (look at the business it has garnered).

Peppy music, amazing cameos, the return of Paresh Rawal (think 'Mohra'....a little), excellent leads (Genelia though, to be fair, is overdoing it a bit, if one cares to watch Bommarrillu and its tamil remake, plus most of the other stuff she's been in - though she sure is easy on the eyes, and a good actress, perhaps its time to stretch for range). And yes, it was good to see Jayant Kripalani back in the movies after a while (can't forget that smile from his Vicks Vaporub ad). Finally, here's to hoping Kitu Gidwani gets lengthier roles.

It IIISSS a remake!
by Bhaumik on Jul 20, 2008 07:56 PM  | Hide replies

This is indeed a remake of the malayalam flick, 'NIRAM'. The original roles of the love duo were by Boban Kunjacko and Shalini.

Anyway, nothing wrong in it. Enjoy the movie!

atleast not like bollywood...coz nowadays all malayalam movies are remaked into hindi and all are success at BO...You do an R&D and you will get to know that 90% of malayalam movies are original stories.

Nice one!

Old story. college buddies in love but never realizes. people around them know well. I was totally astonished when Aamir khan selected this movie to invest on. But the direction and young Ho!group adds a peppy touch and cuteness to the movie. Each character have been given utmost importance in the film. nobody was a waste throughout. The elder and the younger lot was utilised to the best of ability. Hats off to the Sugandha Garg, Nirav Mehta, Karan Makhija and Alishka Varde, the way they carried their role with poise and confidence. Excellent movie, no vulgarity, no romance but still its a love story. Real fun and u cud watch it again.

Such a good movie
by Reena Goel on Jul 15, 2008 08:09 PM  | Hide replies

I notice that for once the critics and the audience are sort of in agreement about the merits of this film.
I think it should be this years official entry to the Oscars....well why not. At least there won't be as many people complaining as in previous years.

Yha. The Academy jury is sitting there to mark a bollywood commercial crap. Think before telling something.

Genelia acting for second time in same story
by Amit Arora on Jul 15, 2008 12:51 AM

Genelia has acted for the second time in a movie with the same story. The story of JTYJN is very similar to Genelia's launch movie Tujhe Meri Kasam with Ritesh Deshmukh.
