It looks like we have nothing to do, i.e. we are passionate about nothing and that is why we are finding time to point out things which we can ignore. Culture - Yes, we need to maintain culture. There are 100 better ways of maintaining our culture. If you do not like a lady scantily wearing dress, do not look/ogle. She is in show-business and is not expected to show up in burkhas. She is partially marketing herself and the show as well by coming that way. I do not see any offence in this. All the pseudo culture savers please check out how many eve-teasing operations going in your locality, try to stop it if you can. Try to stop the rapes happening near by your house. We are a democratic country and people should have liberty to wear what they like - of course she should not be coming in swim suites and should be "dressed to occassion". I do not know about Namita, which is probably a shot in movie and not a function scene, but Shriya is wearing a reasonably proper attire.

Somebody should tell these lunatic politians we are in the year 2008 and live in a free democratic country . Movies since the 40/50's have been showing bold scenes. T Velmurugan should not feel insecure, grow up man deal with it. Looks like Mr T Velmurugan belongs to the Taliban. PMK = Taliban

Great thoughts atlast by "some" responsible politicians in TN. TN state has been a pioneer in protecting magnificient indian culture and traditions. We need to have a dress code and a code for behavior and viloators should be punishable by law, to maintain the moraities and ethics in the community. DO NOT get confused with USA or Europe. That stuff just does not work every where. There the people are highly civilized and sexual emotions are easily satisfied at young ages and it is accepted by society. That can never happen in india. So women or men should have a dress code and seducing dresses should be banned.

Nothing to do
by Prabhakaran V on Jan 30, 2008 03:01 AM

The title and message sounds like the tamilnadu government and assembly have nothing to do and thus started discusion on dress codes of actresses and now PMK started promoting the dresses of Shreya and Namitha to the public. People of tamilnadu take note of all these and give your sensible votes to these kind of "worthy", "value creators" and "public interested" contestents. So that they will entertain you and also the assembly.

Dress for the ocassion
by Arthi Sundar on Jan 30, 2008 02:58 AM  | Hide replies

A dress code means" to dress for the ocassion"What shreya wore for the ocassion was not appropriate considering that there were so many politicians and vip's present inc the chief minister of the state.Even in western cultures u are strictly expected to adhere to the dress code.there are so many ex..Formal Full formal, Full dress, Formal attire ,Semi-formal,Informal       Cocktail (old-style) or Business attire,Smart casual       Business casual (old-style), Cocktail (new style), Executive Casual, Corporate Casual,Business casual       Dressy, Resort Casual, Country Club, Casual chic, Semi-casual, Neat casual etc etc. To put it in simple terms" YOU CANNOT WEAR A JEANS AND TANK TOP TO THE OSCARS OR A BUSINESS ATTIRE TO THE BEACH" In that sense i def agree that there has to be a dress code for important occassions.

There is much to think about in India than arguing in the assembly about heroine's dress
by ASHOK BURRA on Jan 30, 2008 02:38 AM  | Hide replies

Indian politicians are known for their stupidity. This is yet another such act. There are problems of Corruption, Poverty, Unemployment, Caste-based reservations to add to our miseries and moreover Terrorism.
Leaving all this, what is stupid act of discussing about actresses. Can they stop the people of India watching Hollywood or Bollywood films in which the dress of a heroine can be even more revealing???
They are making the heroines even more popular by discussing about them.
All our character or behaviour starts from our mind. If our mind is in control, we need not worry too much like this, about one or two heroines.
You dirty politicians! Try to do something good to the country.
Some 500 dogs are ruling the country of 1 billion lions. That is why we are still backward, under-developed and begging from other countries for funds for our development.

too much pay, nothing worthwhile to do. so, what to do? in tamil nadu actors and actresses are as popular as the politicians, if not more. in order to hog the limelight, attack them on privolous issues. proving themselves as illiterate, these politicians have forgotten that India is a free country which promotes freedom of speech and expression. we won't allow them to take away our fundamental rights.
