One of the Best Actor bid adieu
by Sanjeevi k on Jan 29, 2008 07:00 PM

Bharth Gopi is one of the best actor produced in the last thirty years of Malayalam Industry..
Everyone will be surprised if he see his physical look that a Bald headed person which is un conventional in the "Normal Film World".
Any role, whether the Tabala player or Maaried English professor who get into issues in the other movie..all are wonderful....
It is real great that we are contemporary with the Great people like him and seen their wonderful performance..
Prayers for the departed soul and grivences to the Bereaved Family.

Bharat Gopi

As a North Indian, I still had the privelege to see at least half a dozen of the films in which Bharat Gopi was part and parcel of the project starting from the very first film in which he was just a fleeting memory.
Gopi was versitile to say the least. While most of the heroes of Malayalam cinema had typical mannerisms of stars, Gopi was marked out by his lack of a brand mannerism. Immitating artists will find it very difficult to mimic his past roles and make fun of him. He was above all that. Keralite artists otherwise do not put airs, and Gopi did not even have a whiff of that. He was normally found at various film festivals, sometimes sipping tea with other cineastes and otherwise offering his comments on the works of others. His press conferences were eagerly attended and often critical.

Gopi in his untimely demise has still left for future generations a collection of his artistic evidence for deep analyses. Not only was he physically taller than an average Malayalam film artist, his memorable performances in films are permanent highs of cinema from Kerala. That he carried an intellectual mind, besides his acting prowess, has marked him as a thinking artiste whose numbers in Indian cinema itself is a handful. He remains an inspirating for all those who may be struck with movement disabilities. Even in his later years of struggle, his life shone out from the mundane. We salute the man with whom we relate our days with Keralite cinema for the past forty year

While conveying my heartfelt condolences & prayers for the departed soul, I pause to salute you Mr. Gautam for your deep knowledge of Malayalam films, albeit being a north Indian. The inputs you have stated of late Bharath Gopi is excellent & amazing. However, I wonder whether Shri Gopi was taller than the average Malayalam actor. It's a fact that physical attributes hardly mattered for Gopi, for, he was such an outstanding versatile actor. To me he seemed a slim ordinary person of average medium height of a Keralite, i.e. 5 feet 7 inches or thereabouts. I haven't met Mr. Gopi in personally, hence this could be my imagination. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

1 of the greatest
by Ramesh Menon on Jan 29, 2008 06:50 PM

The was 1 of the greatest of all time. His character 'tabalist Ayyappan'will remain in the minds of the public forever.I doubt if malayalam movies has seen that sort of performance on screen. His hateful characteristics would later be matched by Shri.Thilakan, another doyen who is scantly respected by the Industry,as the foster father to the heroine in the movie'Namukku Parkan Munthiri Thoppukkal'.
One remembers Shri Gopi's Shakespeare Krishna Pillai in 'Kattathe Kilikoodu';the handicapped artist in 'Ormmekai' and a rebel naxalite in the movie 'Marmaram'(only a guest role) but worth going miles to see.
Bye Gopichetta!!!You will live in our hearts forever....

A Great Actor

' Oh, what a speed ', exclaimed Gopi in the film "Kodiyettam". that single sentence uttered by Gopi acting a a moron, coming out wih his bride from the marriage pandal,on seeing a speeding car passing by, defined in one stroke the character he was acting. he was an actor for whom characters were waiting to come alive.

Neeta,

Your use of may his soul rest in "piece" is already made piece the hearts of everybody who knows Bharath Gopi's acting calibre. I think you had seen him only in photographs not in films or you are a chocolate heros' follower and seems not to try to get acquaintance with the regional culture and also the film culture. Don't make such comments without knowing the facts. You may, in future, after seeing his films, withdraw your present comments.

Mohan.

GOD and followers of serious flims, all over the world. He was a part of a number of award winning classics and the roles he has done is etched in the memory of millions. If you don't know about a national award winner, a natural actor - please don't open up your ignorance here. Sorry to say, this is not the place for that. May his soul rest in piece.

Ignorance is not a crime. Go on with it. Bald men are not idiots. Mahatma Gandhi, Nehru, Tagore, William Shakespeare to name a few.

Neeta, acting is a skillful art. It doesn't need a chocolate face. This actor is involved in numerous quality art movies in 70's , 80's and 90's. See his movies to know his greatness.
