I read only a few novels and short stories of the great Sujatha, but that itself reveals his vast knowledge in the respective fields. A great writer who had more interest towards "Marabu Kavithaigal" and "HiQues". I enjoyed his usage of tamil and forming new words by joining to little words. His writings were unforgettable. I was reading his "Kanavu Thozhirchalai" when I heard of his decease. He expects more from this generation and hope we have to remember his dreams and try to make it come true. May his soul rest in peace.
I still remember him walking slowly into Mylapore Saravana Bhavan (near Nilgiris) and taking a coffee. He never used to sit, always stood and had coffee alone and spoke to people who go to him. Its difficult to get such a intellectual today. WIsh he would have made his clones for us. Rest in peace Sujatha, we will do all the little we can for betterment of TamilNadu.
I request our Government to purchase all of his works and make it available online and via subsidised publications for future generations and to those who hadnt had the opportunity to read him so far.

Tamil Nadu Govt should take action. will they. caste and creed should not be the criterion.

He was liked by all. The TN govt. should do something to popularise all his works. I feel he is next to Bharathi to make Tamils proud about themselves.
I still cannot believe we would ever live to see a multi-faceted personality as Sujatha! Wow! He was a tech guy, can write anything from history to science fiction and excel in film dialogs and script! What a phenomenon! I still remember one of his best novels "kolayuthir kalam" which is an absolute delight for fiction readers. He had described "holograms" in that novel which is exactly the same concept used in Disneyland's mickey's show at the waterfront! All this is 1970s. What a costly miss! May his soul rest in peace.

There are lakhs and lakhs of his fans to his various categories of writings and I would like to see more of them in this thread to remember and pay tribute to the great writer we had.

I remember reading "kolai Udhir.." WOW. A fantastic writer who wrote from Alwharz to abdul kalaam. He was a national treasure and I will definitely miss him for his wit, dialogues (meghathai thurathiyavan - novel) and numerous movies including indian, anniyan, shivaji etc., His knowledge in each of the field he was writing about was quite amazing. His background in engineering certainly helped. His skills and style were responsible for a whole new generation of great tamil story tellers & writers. He wrote several columns to encourage science knowledge among the common men is well-documented. Very few would know that he has written a book on cooking vegetarian recipes. May his soul rest in peace.

I am happy you mentioned that novel. That was one of his masterpieces, though the film based on that novel did not have the tempo of the novel.
More than the novels, he proved his mettle in the following short stories: Veedu Oru unmayai thedi.. "No Problem! Then nilavu Nila Kaalam Krishna Leela Roja (not the film but a novella that appeared in Kalki in the 60s) He was a genius. Tamil literary field will never see anyone like him again. Hearfelt condolences to the bereaved family!
Although everyone remembers Sujatha for his association with the Cine world many have missed his foresight in Jeano a Novel series in Ananda Vikatan. He introduced a concept of GPRS tracking which is now blossoming as smart technologies in the form of RFID & Smart Cards. The writer also imagined a national ID card for everyone in that series.
Another of his greatest contributions was simple writing on the concepts of Science especially computers in Tamil making it easy for readers to understand.
