Worth watching for hritik's magical looks, build.......... dont kno wat d history was nd wat is true?? bt watever has been shown is wonderful... length is d probs bt newaz u dont plan ur time for enjoyment......
Don't judge me to be one who doesn't understand good movies. I truly enjoyed Lagaan and Swades. But this one truly stated that the director is not capabale of handling story lines bigger than Short Stories. I would agree that the director has the capability to weave an art with his imaginations when the story is skin deep. But when it comes to history, it surely needs a different genre of skills to handle this which this director has not even a trait that he has exibited in this extra boring mega boring SOAP.
Admitted, we still have a long way to go when it comes to making war scenes which will look anything nearly like a Kingdon of Heaven, or Lord of the Rings, but still, it was an attempt, and quite its worth. The battlefield looks wow! The story, a pleasant surprise. The acting, grand. Aishwarya Rai, gives us a glimpse of her acting skills. Her voice, sweet melody. Here, I must bow to one Hrithik Roshan, who gives the performance of a lifetime. He looks royal, sounds grand, and acts the part with flawlessness to glory. The only amount of helplessness we ever hear from him is when he asks his beloved to forgive him and return home with him. The expressions show how much he has matured as an actor. It is, truly, a role that is made FOR him. He shines, just like the room that did the same while sunset. Watch out for it. Azeem o Shaan Shahenshah looked like a song on which the director worked tirelessly to get done. It was perfect. At three and a half hours, the movie never gets boring, and that in itself, says a lot for a Bollywood flick. Jodhaa Akbar is visually stunning. The battle-scenes, the Shahenshah's anger expressed to greatness, the last one-to-one fight between Akbar and his brother-in-law, the mirror in the room of jewels reflected the light of the setting sun, Khwaja.. The movie has countless sequences which makes one weak at heart.Jodhaa Akbar is epic storytelling. One of the best ever made.

A Very Well made film which aims regions religious harmoney, call it distorted, i call it a brave attempt, good work mr Gowariker, It s a worth watch.
I dont really understand what attracted people to this movie. It was way too long, it was historically inaccurate and it had no entertainment value. It was just a plain boring long movie made by a director who has an agenda: "Pseudo Secularism".
Why cant Indians stand up and accept the truth? Mughal period in India was one of the worst chapters in our history only bettered by the British ruling us!
Why cant we just come out of the closet and say it: Most Moghuls were THUGS. They came to loot India and found a country that was lulled into sleep by its prosperity. Then they decided to settle down and rule and steal instead of just stealing and running.
That is the real history and we can tweak it turn in any number of ways, we are going to end up with the same crap.
It is a disgrace that people dont want to speak the truth even today in so called "Free India".

You do not have any sense of good movies. Epics cannot be treated as an entertainment, wrong notion.
I can't believe it. A few hours ago, the movie was rated as 2.5 and now it shows 3.5 I guess they were paid money to increase the rating as well as the review. It's so frustating to see that genuine reporting is history now. I am sure, now onwards, I am not going to believe in Rediff's review. Rediff has over the time has become Indiatimes - 'masala and bikau' website.

Ashish , it is important to understand that Gowarikar has been inspired by the story of Jodha and Akbar ..... We cannot force Gowarikar to be inspired by some other historical character ... We must remember that India is a democratic country and everybody has the right to choose whichever form of inspiration ......Regards Albert

Oh I agree - I just find it hard to stomach a "war trophy wife" as a love story. He can tell whatever warped idea of history he has.
See centuries hence someone may find 'inspiration' to portray Pol Pot from Cambodia as heroic. At that time I would hope people would point out the "killing fields" and the horror he and the Khmer Rouge perpetrated on some very gentle people.

@Ashish I would beg to differ.movies arent made to replace history books in primary schools or act as a secondary medium of educat6ion, for that matter. historicant content is always subject to controversy and speculation but should tat stop a director from expressing his ideas on screen? a movie is just an interpretation of an idea...a collection of stimulating thoughts & emotions tat is presented for public evaluation, very much like the other forms of art...be it literature/music/fine arts...
so lets forget thinking about distortion of facts, blasphemous depictions, warped history...and enjoy reading a beautifully depicted tale told by a very competent director... As for records go...anyone seen braveheart which one the oscar in '98 and the recent bestsellar "da vinci code"??...william wallace as shown in the movie was small town rebel unlike the legendary warrior hero depicted while "da vinci code" proved how a lie well told can also be a bestseller... movies are about creative expression of an artist...lets forget facts and enjoy reel-life fascination...

As it is well known - if you tell a lie enough times (whatever the medium) it becomes the truth. This Jodha Akbar love story is a lie. She was a "war trophy woman/wife".
William wallace and the Scots did oppose the English in England/Scotland. It may have been degrees magnified but this Jodha Akbar "love" is a lie. Without threat of war she would never have been handed over to Akbar.
Da Vinci code is based on a fictional novel. Even here there were protests. Opus Dei depiction(esp that albino monk) was controversial but still... do your own research on that organization.
Using Jodha Akbar to sugar coat muslim rule is minimizing the holocaust of Hindus at the hands of the Moghals. Do not mock the victims of that holocaust and glorify the perpetrators for a few hours of fun.
kudos to the whole team esp the scriptwriter and the director....such a small chapter in history dealt with such ethnic magnanimity...simply loved it!!!
