RE:For Meena and other Pseudo Secularists

Hi,

1) Let's presume you are not a "Pseudo Secularists" but a "Secularists".

How are you different from so called "Pseudo Secularists".

2) Your comment "Who ever believes that they are Indian first before anything should be treated as a true patriot..." needs some deliberation.

Do you mean the "Nationality" comes first and "Religion" next?

Or, your Religion comes first and then your Nationality ?

Kindly clarify.

What's there to be clarified, buddy ?
Wonder what you are asking....

He very clearly said "whoever believes that they are Indian...." what confuses you here ?

Make up your bloody minds

I am not sure why you have two reviews. What is the purpose being served by contradicting each other? So is it a good movie or not? What is rediff's final rating? 2 and a half or four? This is a highly stupid way of getting away from committing. What are trying to do? Save your ass in case it turns out to be a big hit and everyone laughs at you?

much below expectation
by Kavanjit Singh on Feb 19, 2008 12:25 AM

movies was much below what i expected.

1. thing i disliked most - art direction. director does not tries to contain the environment which would have existed in that era. they have shown mountains and valleys as they exist today. the forts, palaces look fake. town where akbar goes in disguise was pathetic. one where he fights the elephant took the cake.

1. battle scenes were poorly directed. you cant just put 1000 extras and ask them to run and expect it to make up for everything. look at braveheart to see how battle scenes r shot. last scene is copied from troy still doesnt comes close to it

2. kulbhushan kharbanda as rajput king? gimme a break. he looked nothing like it and couldnt even act

3. this movie is not even close to epic. the 80% of movie is between husband and wife. what the hell is epic in it? there was no reason for it to be 3 1/2 hrs long

4. too much of fiction is mixed with history. didnt worked for me

only good thing about movie was hrithik. he was very good as akbar. ash was good but not much scope for her.

point on the scale of 10...i would give it 4 or 5

I am not sure whether raja sen was watching the same movie..! The movie is tremendous.. a definite must watch i am not a hrithik fan however after this performance i think it is finally time to say that he has well and truly arrived..!! Man Singh was brilliant and so were the other supporting the lead..!! All in all a must watch..!!

A one time watch

Jodha Akbar is definetly a good movie though i wont say its gr8 or a masterpiece, yet its a movie to watch once.Director has to be praised for the extensive sets and the massive effort being taken for the movie..About history, definetly looked more fiticious than factual. He has tried to emphasis the love between the Akbar and Jodhaa.so lets jus try to look at it that way.only hitch is its jus too long he cld have made it simplier and short.Anyways its a paisa vasool movie..u get wat u want for the money u pay.

True...not gr8 but a gud movie. Though lengthy but not even once i felt bored. Best part was HR as Akbar. Supporting cast is also very gud except 1 or 2. Though more effort could have been put into to make it more lively but still its fine...its a gud movie. For me it was a real paisa wasool....
What I felt was many people did not like it coz they expected too much out of it. Moreover though from starting its been promoted as a love story between Akbar-Jodhaa(obious a young Akbar) people were expecting 'Akbar the Gr8' which gradually he became later in his life.

A masterpiece.
by Sarita banerjee on Feb 18, 2008 06:21 PM

Every thing said and done I think Jodhaa Akbar's a masterpiece. Its no joke to recreate those massive war scenes, with thousands of men & animals in the desert.Besides almost all the characters looked straight out of the pages from the past. Its only sad that no importance was given to the character of Man Singh.
The chemistry between Ash & Hritik was simply magic,so unlike Dhoom2.Besides after a very long time got to see expression of love minus all those steamy bed scenes.Hritik seems to be making love through his piercing eyes.Great job,Keep it up Ashu.

Forget the technicalities... the subject is filth
by Seshadri on Feb 18, 2008 04:37 PM  | Hide replies

Glorifying the Muslim life and characteristics and looking at life from their view point has been the choicest of subjects in hindi film industry...

As if there are no other honourable personalities from our history... why is that we fail to look at a period earlier than the moghuls? did civilization start after the moghul invasion?

Why does not we have more movies depicting the golden era prior to the invasion of moghuls???

We all gleefully ignore the subject, gape openly at the cast and unconciously our minds would presume that the moghul rule was the greatest and their period was "Just".

Shame on such media! As read in a post elsewhere in this forum, stop showing our history of slavery!!!

Some stupid people tried to go beyond Moghul empire & they named the Movie Asoka...starring shahrukh khan...& what they did, they simply killed the great personality of king ashoka....they should have named it "Ashiq Asoka"

Shame on you. Akbar lived in the 16th century and he had a more enlightened mind than you have. I have said it in another post and i say it again - everyone gets the guru and the truth they deserve. Not everyone is blessed with an open mind - sometimes God closes people's minds deliberately.
