in today's world, i would consider this a near masterpiece. very sorry rating by raja sen. remove your pre-determined ideology about jodhaa, akbar and give the director a thumbs up for his excellent narrative power. for an historical-it doesnt bore you for even one second and performances have been really good. so go and enjoy the movie.
IS IT WORTH A WATCH. IT HAS GOT MIXED RESPONCE BY THE AUDIANCES. THE CRITICS HAVE RATED IT WELL EXCEPT RAJA SEN(CAN'T RATE ANY MOVIE WELL) I AM A GREAT FAN OF BOTH HRITHIK AND AUSHOTOSH(AS A DIRECTOR) AND ALSO OF AISHWARYA TO SOME EXTENT. IS IT WORH A WATCH???

I am in agreement with Viraj.
I just came back from the theatre.
Its indeed a good film and very well shot. But a little lenghty. The war sceens should have been made short and could have captutered a little better (This I am saying coz I liked the war sceens of Troy and 300). But no doubgt Hrithik & Ash have a good on screen chemistry. 10 times better than Dhoom 2.
Couldnt agree more to Mr Raja Sen, the film couldve worked better if packaged in a 2 hour package ala Hollywood style, editing out the amateurish battle sequences and some long drawn out and cliched' scenes. Historic authenticity aside (who cares as long as the version sounds interesting - eg Benhur)during the court room scenes, tent scenes etc (with kings, courtiers) I was comapring the movie with the lavish television serials (found no much difference) and that ruined my visual experience of watching a proclaimed epic. The dresses and set look expensive and captured in awkward but yet interesting angles I think it couldve done way better at the hands of director of the calibre of Mr Gowarikar. Songs are well used (but not as skilfully as in Lagaan or Swades). And overall the movie is well above the usual standard fair and can be watched once.
doubts about its factual veracity apart, jodha akbar is a well made movie.the director and the crew deserves a pat for crafting the movie with commendable finesse. the chemistry between hrithik and ash is amazing. the songs are memorable, especialy the sufi song khwaja mere, which has a soothing effect. however the the starting of the movie wasnt impressive at all. the war scenes appeared to have been filmed in a haphazard manner. looked very amateurish. but gradually th film will grip you. the scene where akbar meets jodha for the first time to listen to her demands is a very memorable one. and another touching scene was when akbar watches her doing the pooja. well chiselled out scenes. neverthless the secondary characters fail to impress. especially akbar's step-mom is a big let-down with her wooden act. jodhai's brother also not very emotive. shamsudeen's character is however appreciable. the final one-to one fight scene was breath-taking. it was a well picterised action sequence. in short, JA is an enjoyable movie, although it may not deserve the epithet of an epic movie
see, if u r sensitive enuff to appreciate a historical luv story, u will adore jodha akbar. otherwise u might end up passing comments while watching the movie. film is gud and sum of the scenes r just too well filmed. the scale of the movie is so grand that u just can't get over it. this fact is very well depicted by the song--azeem-o-shaan shahenshah. the best song of the movie is definitely-jashn-e-bahara. it falls so easily on ur ears. then abt --khwaja mere khwaja, its a spiritual classic, especially if u understand the lyrics. the war scenes have been filmed well. there r scenes which r funny, they have been deliberately put in there, don%u2019t confuse it with it bein a mockery of the movie. now abt actors, wat do i say abt the lead pair? they r just fantastic. hrithik hasn%u2019t placed a foot wrong since KMG. i cant imagine anyone else playin the role of akbar. every emotion cums out so naturally out of him. he luks so gud tooooo. especially wen he is practising with the sword. he was born to play this role. and abt ash, she luks stunning first of all. Simple but beautiful. and she too doesn%u2019t miss out in the acting department. u might be wondering, y does ash do gud in sum movies and not in others? The reason is %u2013the director. till now only sanjay leela bhansali, mani ratnam and a couple of more names have been successful in bringing out wat she really has. and now another person has joined the list- yes, mr.ashutosh gowariker.
First of all raja sen is super sick human being. He is a movie buff who is jealous and does favoritism with film makers. Such review writers should be shown the door or send him to tirath yatra. He is a bug.Now lets talk about the JA which was housefull even on tuesday. JA made me feel royal. I salute the genius of asuthosh he is a real craftsman. In JA definately he gave us a spectacular visual treat. The film clicks in all departments only thing it lacks was dialouge bazi. This is the only opportunity ashu missed otherwise its a Live life king size film. The songs are mesmerising A r rehman at its spiritual best no match for this genius. As for the cast Hritik and ash are fire on the screen. Nobody could have matched there talent when it came to JA. They take us to the olden era smoothly. Be it sonu sood, illa arun, poonam sinha, razam murad all are outstanding. This movie will be a proud classic for many years. Everything was grand I felt like a king while watching JA.
