Darsheel's performance in TZP was amazing and he really brought a range of emotions. He has held his fort and made an impact despite having a stalwart like Aamir Khan in the film. He deserves to be nominated in this category but I think it is not fair to comapre him with others. Judge him for his perfomance in this film and as others mentioned not for the number of hits or performances done.
Lets compare actors with Cricketers: SRK - SACHIN TENDULKAR:- Both have passed the peak of theri careers. Both refuse to acknowledge their age. Both Show Brilliance more often than not. Public dono ki jaan ke peeche padi hai. AKSHAY - ANDREW SYMONDS:- You can like them, you can hate them but you can't ignore them. And the fact of the matter is that both have proved their versitality time and again. DARSHEEL - ROHIT SHARMA:- You cant judge a person by a single outing. Give some time to them so that they can blossom rather than putting immense pressure on them due to which they will fall short of expectations and will ruin their careers.
And the news rediff gives about Darsheel not attending the Awards function, utter nononsense. Its like Gilchrist not going to take the Award for best Wicket Keeper because he wanted it for Best Batsmen

Lets not get it wrong... i m talking abt the general scenario.... The awards dont make a difference.... They r just creating a hype for a single good performance. And also, they cant compare it with SRK and Akki. If Rohit Sharma makes a century in one match, he cant be compared to Sachin or Saurav or Dravid or Laxman just on a basis of single inning.

ur right actors like darsheel or amir khan cant be rated on terms of awards but its true tht darsheel refused to attend the award function bcoz he didnt got nominated for best actor i had watched her interview on national news channel then.

i like ur comparison but what if Rohit scores a century in his first match and india wins, dont u think he wud get the man of the match, irrespective of his age..... just my 2 cents.

Darsheel was excellent in TZP. But after just one film you can't compare him to the Khans and Akshay Kumar.. SRK can play a villain to romance to anything serious.. Bazzigar, Darr, DDLJ, KKHH, Swades, Chak De. So, to AK... But Darsheel is JUST A FILM OLD and a nomination for that doesnt mean he's as good as the Khans and AKs. We have to wait and watch... If u dont agree, reason this.. Is Aamir Khan as good as Shyam Benegal or Santoshi? Common, say Yes cos he's given a hit with TZP... That's the problem with Season and Fresh.. Yes, Darsheel did great in TZP but way long b4 he is in the likes of King Khan or Akshay Kumar...

The point is not whether he has acted in one movie or mor. The fact is that he is recognized for his role in TZP and therefore nominated as Best Actor for this year. Or are you saying all awards functions give away awards to those actors with more hits. Now that explains why SRK takes most of the awards. Thanks for your revealing statement buddy.!!!! Now people can reflect about awards and SRK!!

Well said Thomas....Filmfare shud be renamed as Yash Chopra-SRK-Amitabh Bachchan awards.. Even when there are no awards for these 3 people in any year, they are felicitated with some award like POWER award...And they think that the janta comprises idiots only and cannot understand this..

Here's a thought ,next time you go to a cinema theater ,jump on to the stage ,strip and dance ,and maybe puke as well ,that should liven things up..... oh for god's sake ,no one is forcing you to watch a slow cinema ,watch it in a ferrari cruising at 300kmph if you have to but don't insult good cinema by comparing a movie with speed......

Cmon rediff, get real. Do you really expect people to believe reports of Darsheel refusing to attend award ceremonies because of this sort of nomination? Why this need to attract public attention without any rhyme or reason??
some people here argue darsheel has only one movie. He may not be as good later. But the point is he was the best actor in this year for this movie. It doesnot matter how he acts in other movies or who directed it. Its not a life time achivement award. I think hand down the award for best actor should go to darsheel. Actually there is very few roles that can challange him
