Ghajini Cool movie - Must watch
by kumar on Dec 27, 2008 11:59 AM

I have seen both the version and below stated is my verdict on the movie.
The first half was very gripping and i thouroughly enjoyed the humor and suspense, key ingradients that stand out ( remember i watched the telugu movie) The way Aamir carried himself was great.
Asin - She tried to be a chirpy character, but then her personality and looks didnt fit into the role.. i felt a kareena ( like in jab we met) could have been a Fairer alternative ( no innuendo intended :-)) She did an average job, but the fairer alternative could have generated a stronger romantic tinge .. which is very much required i this tragic movie, that gives weight to the revenge aspect

jiah khan - What a waste, not upto the mark, too meek to fit into that role. Wrong casting totally, the telugu movie does better onthis front

The climax has been changed when compared to the telugu movie, and i would have expected a simple ending, we dont expect a superman out of aamir khan... but then it was uneccarily dragged. A simple powerful ending would have made this film the biggest grosser and block buster.. but then, it is not to be

Overall, i would rate it an above average movie.. a 3.5 stars.. since half of the c ountry already knows the story and the surprise element is missing for the south indian aamir fans like me

I would definitely want to her from my northie friends about how they felt the movie was, as my view would be biased as i have seen the south indian hit already. Good movie overall

my view of all THREE versions
by rt on Dec 27, 2008 10:33 AM  | Hide replies

okay, i thought it was pretty neat to get to see three versions of the same plot. now, IMHO, the aamir one has the best production values, Memento had the best direction & gripping story without any meaningless meanderings. in indian versions, songs & ususal melodrama took away from the story. Having said that, among the three versions, I thought aamir looked & acted the best as the main proatgonist. The tamil version seemed very loud & over the top. i know it is typical of south indian films, but i guess as i havent seen many of them, & so i was not expecting such loud characterization. music was also very south-indianish, guzarish was okay, rest very regional sounding, tho picturization was decent.the female lead is amateurish, jerky (same as male lead in south indian version), & has over the top body movements. aamir made all the difference. While on culture, I have nothing against dark skinned people, but i was taken a back when the bus conductor in the south indian version describes the hero as "fair" to the inspector. in Aamir's version, there is no such description. That was quite peculiar to me. So, i also wonder if this is more of a complex in south india because of darker skin in that part of the country, because it wasnt there in the hindi version, while aamir is certainly a looker. oh well, cultural thing i guess, and that fair and dark is all relative. lol!

and if you really understand the simple english, i havent critiqued over the skin color, but only pointed it out as a cultural after thought, because i didnt understand why in the south indian version, there was a need to call the male lead as "fair" in his complexion! and that reflects a certain cultural mindset. and yes, it is all relative! i know it may be too much to process for a pea-brain, but come on, give it a second read and see if you get it! duh!

Awesome Movie- Ghajini (must watch)
by vineeth nair on Dec 27, 2008 07:15 AM

I have seen the Tamil Version with Surya and was afraid that i might compare it with the tamil version and be disaapointed, but I am happy to say the movie turned out to be terrific. Aamir is so comfortable and gives an awesome perfomance as the forgetful Pyscopath. And Asin is Fab in her role as the do-gooder commercial part time actress . Credit to A Murugadoss to keep the film taut (there was never a dull moment ). Coregraphy and cinemotagraphy was top class and international. AR Rahman music rocks .A must see movie for the whole entertainment experience

Ghajni collects 32 crore in 24 hours

Ghajini garners Rs. 32 crores in a day
Prasanna Singh [December 26, 2008, 7:54:55 PM]

Murugadoss and Aamir Khan’s Ghajini made history during Christmas 2008 – its worldwide box office collections touched Rs. 32 crores in just one day!!! Now this is some achievement!

This is an unprecedented box-office collection on the opening day for any film in the history of Indian Cinema. Yes! Not even this year’s biggest film, Singh Is Kinng, collected such a huge sum on its opening day! Let us compare this film’s opening day collections with that of its “competitor” Shahrukh Khan starrer Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi; Ghajini made Rs. 32 crores on its opening day but Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi collected Rs. 10 crore on its first day!

Can there be a greater achievement for a South Indian director?! Though Indian Cinema decentralized long ago, Bollywood is still considered the hub of Indian Cinema by many outsiders because it is true that none can match this pioneering industry’s grandeur. Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is from the legendary producer Yash Raj and to overtake this film in the box-office race is quite an accomplishment; the magnificence of this record is doubled considering the film stars Shahrukh Khan, the box office Badshah!

Aamir, on his part, worked very hard for his film and gave it his all. At age 40, the actor built a physique akin to a bodybuilder's, which is a tremendous achievement in itself. He was completely devoted to the film – right from acting in it to marketing it, Aami

Ghajini is a block buster
by maram jyothi on Dec 27, 2008 01:42 AM

Ghajini is a block-buster film at boxoffice. Aamir,Salman and Akshay are Kings at Box-office. SRK,KJO,Ychopras always use Media for their films to be successful. Amir,Akshay had new directors and films will be Block-busters.
SRK is not a king khan. Aamir n salman are king khans.
