AMIT BHASIN
Ghajini is Sunny Deol Style Movie
by AMIT BHASIN on Dec 27, 2008 07:43 PM  | Hide replies

While we can critic on both sides on Ghajini, what struck me most is the uncanny similarity to Sunny Paaji's movie;e like 'Ghatak', Gadar...(they also started with letter 'G'..??) and the rawness of the hero's role, in this case Amir, attracts one to the movie. I think we hadn't see this genre of movie for some time and its a brilliant movie by Amir to do this movie although script had many flaws.

I founf Hindi Gajhini better
by Thoughts on Dec 27, 2008 06:09 PM  | Hide replies

After watchgn Hindi version..i felt so much curious to see the Tmail version to know which one was better filmed and directed..sumday i read surya's interview on rediff,n i found him true as saying the time will make a gr88 difference in these two films..The double role of Villain and the comfrontation/fight scene of HEro who is a MD with goons(juss b4 Kalpana get murdered),doesnt go down very well in thesouth verion, which has been rectified..and climax is changed to do ONLY good with the movie in Hindi version.

i muss say ASIM is a terrific actress to recreate the magic again..

although it will be very unfare to compare aamir n Surya...Bcoz Both have done very well..but Seams Aamir has done much much of hard work physically too,to portray the role.
so full credit to him..:)

Guys, there is no comparison b/w 2 actors, both are good in their own way. Also critical acting and acting which generates money, both are important. So no point in any comparison, both are great in their own way

GHAJINI is marketed publicized
by ra gs on Dec 27, 2008 04:24 PM  | Hide replies

On the outset, GHAJINI is marketed publicized to be an out and out action flick with gory action sequences nicely aped from Tollywood. Surprise!! There is a beautiful Love angle to this one before our hero embarks on seeking revenge for her lady love. I would not say it is a copy of the movie Memento although it has one important take of of the memory loss of the lead actor. The movie has a taught screenplay which binds the viewer to look forward to the next scene in the movie. More importantly, the beautiful innocent love moments between the two build up the anticipation of looking forward to the way and circumstances in which the lady gets murdered by Ghajini. Some people might feel the love angle is a bit long stretched but I guess the guys who feel so will be the ones who entered the hall strictly anticipating this one to be a pure action thriller. Coming to think of it, the basic mistake which any revenge hindi movie makes is to give less thought to the process of turning the loving human to a revenge seeker. Ghajini forms a good basis for the bloody revenge in the end. Only when we see the importance of the Kalpana in Sanjay's life can we audience feel and understand the immense grief, pain and loss to Sanjay. And how this loss leads a person to become a somewhat psysic avenger. There are some flaws like why Sanjay does not enquire about the police office before packing him off to the cabinet because he was never against the police. Also there is no involvement of the l

I don't know why kalpana ws important to sanjay's life as he barely knew her nd ws in the process of jst falling in love nt in a relationship or anythin like that.

Isn't the cliche wher sanjay casts his eyes on the girl nd he b.comes consumed w.her frm the moment go. Leavin tht the emotions tht sanjay goes thru ar purely of his frustration tht he got nailed in the head nd now has to suffr frm a medical condition.

Yes sanjay becomes angry bt more thn loosing his love, he gets angry b.c of the guys who nailed him. Any man w.a medical disorder is considrd unsafe nd will take actions i.e him to find tht guy who gt him to his condition.

Frankly the love story is a cliche to add a good feel to a thriller packed movie, which is purely unnecessary as the songs itself.

I felt this movie offrd a premise for a thriller w.a mix of action in it, bt findin how he gets nailed more suits sanjay's fury thn doin it for his love.

Its a straight film w.no twists bt it cud have done alot better, nd completely made no one to say thts its evn "inspired" frm memento. The fault goes to the screenplay, they cud have changed the whole thing instead of only changin the climax.

Yes, the tamil version will have audiencs sayin it gts inspired by memento, bt the hindi version cud hav taken a totally diff. path nd made it into a investigative/thriller film.

Thn it wud have been the finest films in hindi cinema, sadly its not.

I read all the comments written by people.

I don't understand why people comparing Amir with Shahrukh or Salman, its just like comparing Sachin Tendulkar with Rahul Dravid and Dhoni, though Rahul and Dhoni are the very good but still you can't compare them with The Great Sachin.

SO please don't compare Salman and Shahrukh with The Great Amir.

Abey SRK'S Accountant, i can unserstand loyalty of u towards him, as he pays for UR bread and butter. I am talking about quality films. Even crap like films (Goolmaal raturns, phir hera pheri, hey baby, SIK, partner etc.) have earned more than SRK's films, so stop printing those figures, and keep it for your next year auditing.
And once again i reapeat, SRK GUY, do and get some tips for selecting QUALITY FILMS, like rang de bashati, lagaan, tare zameen par, dil chatah hai, and many more.

Ok bye take care

And, talking of profit-related records, does one have any doubts that Ghajini is going to break ALL sorts of records COMPREHENSIVELY? It's collections are going to be not 5 or 6 or 10% higher than RNBDJ, but about "50%" higher. It was just about Aamir actually entering the race. A tortoise can beat an overconfident hare, but not a raring Cheetah. Got it?

Ghajini Cool movie - Must watch
by kumar on Dec 27, 2008 11:59 AM  | Hide replies

I have seen both the version and below stated is my verdict on the movie.
The first half was very gripping and i thouroughly enjoyed the humor and suspense, key ingradients that stand out ( remember i watched the telugu movie) The way Aamir carried himself was great.
Asin - She tried to be a chirpy character, but then her personality and looks didnt fit into the role.. i felt a kareena ( like in jab we met) could have been a Fairer alternative ( no innuendo intended :-)) She did an average job, but the fairer alternative could have generated a stronger romantic tinge .. which is very much required i this tragic movie, that gives weight to the revenge aspect

jiah khan - What a waste, not upto the mark, too meek to fit into that role. Wrong casting totally, the telugu movie does better onthis front

The climax has been changed when compared to the telugu movie, and i would have expected a simple ending, we dont expect a superman out of aamir khan... but then it was uneccarily dragged. A simple powerful ending would have made this film the biggest grosser and block buster.. but then, it is not to be

Overall, i would rate it an above average movie.. a 3.5 stars.. since half of the c ountry already knows the story and the surprise element is missing for the south indian aamir fans like me

I would definitely want to her from my northie friends about how they felt the movie was, as my view would be biased as i have seen the south indian hit already. Good movie overall

okay, i thought it was pretty neat to get to see three versions of the same plot. now, IMHO, the aamir one has the best production values, Memento had the best direction & gripping story without any meaningless meanderings. in indian versions, songs & ususal melodrama took away from the story. Having said that, among the three versions, I thought aamir looked & acted the best as the main proatgonist. The tamil version seemed very loud & over the top. i know it is typical of south indian films, but i guess as i havent seen many of them, & so i was not expecting such loud characterization. music was also very south-indianish, guzarish was okay, rest very regional sounding, tho picturization was decent.the female lead is amateurish, jerky (same as male lead in south indian version), & has over the top body movements. aamir made all the difference. While on culture, I have nothing against dark skinned people, but i was taken a back when the bus conductor in the south indian version describes the hero as "fair" to the inspector. in Aamir's version, there is no such description. That was quite peculiar to me. So, i also wonder if this is more of a complex in south india because of darker skin in that part of the country, because it wasnt there in the hindi version, while aamir is certainly a looker. oh well, cultural thing i guess, and that fair and dark is all relative. lol!

how funny to say..........The tamil version seemed very loud & over the top. i know it is typical of south indian films, obviously gajini is not a very well thought about movie. it is a full time pass one. but to say south indian movies are overtop compared to hindi movies is really very very funny. in general all indian movies r like that....well hindi has a lot of crappy movies like race, salame ishq, tashan and baap of all dhoom series. i mean just having tonned heroes and heroines showing alot of body in their designer outfits doesn't make it great. well asin is ton times better than katrina kaif...... that babe does not know acting for nuts....
