cost of shooting this movie should have been only 10 crores and only 1 crore paid to rajni for the guest roll then this pic would have been a super hit colecting 100 crores...

hello..first know the correct facts.. Rajni did not get anything as salary from balachander for the tamil version, he got 25 crs for telugu version.. in that he donated 15 lacs to the technicians and returned 10 crs back to distributors ..

hello udai..its waste of time advising or preaching those ppl..those ppl are only jealous of tamil films and our heros . they want only bollywood and its stars to be on the top and if someother came for their competition they can accept the fact. Rajni is a maharastrian, we love him and we made a superstar,. we never saw rajni as some northie or other state ..but these ppl even though rajni is also a northie they cant appreciate him for making it biggest star in india but they abuse him becoz he made it big in tamil films and he made tamil films to reach international markets. u have a look at some bollywood article in rediff.. u can find hardly 15 or 20 comments in discussion board but if its a arcticle about rajni or tamil films there are atleast 100 comments cursing rajni and tamilians .. that shows their inferiority complex.. they will never change,so its waste of time telling those ppl that we are indians

Dasavatharam was sold for an exhorbidant price throughout India and overseas. This was because the movie wa huge. Kamal played 10 roles and it generated a lot of hype among fans. Though the movie did not live up to the expecations, people thronged the theatres to watch Kamal's 10 roles and made it a blockbuster. Dasavatharam made more than 300 crores in 60 days of release and is expected to touch the 400 crore mark in 100 days, which no Indian movie has never ever achieved. It is a boon to the producers and distributors of Tamil Cinema. Kamal Haasan for all the hard work he did in the last 2 years earned 15 crore plus 25% of the profit - comes out to about 100 crores. It is with this profit that he makes his next venture Marmayogi.
Now coming to Kuselan - The makers of Kuselan overestimated their own film. They must have got influenced by the success of Dasavatharam. Kuselan, a below average movie was hyped similarly and sold for prices higher than Dasavatharam. They took the audience for granted and gave them trash. This is the reason for the mega-failure of Kuselan. Rajinikanth's earlier flop Baba was sold to distributors in the same way. They were made to pay very high prices for the movie which was another crapfest.
Rajini and Kamal have fought quite a few times in the past for the coveted 'No.1' position. This year the royal battle has been won by Kamal. Can Rajini recover back from this huge fall?

This can only happen in Tamil Movie land ! A box office superstar rewriting his lines and compensating for a movie's poor performance.Rajini has become a prisoner in his own cult.His worshippers demand to endorse his every move.He has to abdicate his creative powers as an excellent character actor and continue to be the B-grade matinee idol that his fans want him to be.
How prophetic that his next movie is titled "ROBOT : That 's our man's fate .To continue in shallow robotic superhero roles that will please the many and alienate Rajini from the real world of cinematic evolution.
There is no one to blame for the poor fate of Kuselan but the director. He turned a simple tale on its head and made it a vulgar parade of 3rd rate comedians, and over-indulgence of the Super Star. The Malayalam original revolved around the poor barber not the Super Star Mammooty. It was this that made Mammooty's appearance in the last few scenes noteworthy. In Tamil, you had Rajni hogging the limelight all through the movie and there was no surprise element in the end. Moreover, Mammooty's performance was so subtle and restrained that everyone was left with awe. Anyway, hope other film makers learn a lesson with this movie and try not to mess up good originals.

there is one more reason for the sad failure...Pasupathy is admittedly a very good actor but his star value is not in the same league as Sreenivasan of the original malayalam version. In malayalam movie industry , sreevasan has done many single hero roles and therefore he is an accepted hero but pasupathy has never been a single hero movie....even in Veyil he had to share lead with Bharath. According to me, Prabhu would have been a better choice.

Kamal is rated above Superstar. He is called Ulaga Nayakan (translated as Universal Hero). Kamal and Rajini are considered the 2 pillars of Tamil Cinema. Both have contributed and achieeved success.
