You can't handle the truth! Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You?! You, Lieutenant Weinberg?! I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives! You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall! You need me on that wall! We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline! I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it! I would rather you just said, "Thank you," and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to!
Kaffee: Did you order the Code Red?
Jessep: I did the job I was sent to do--
Kaffee: Did you order the Code Red?!
Jessep: YOU'RE GODDAMN RIGHT I DID!!!

Wow Raja , has given quite a review here. Quite discerning - Hindu/Muslim, vs. bravery vs. characters.....quite good actually.

Although I won't see the movie, ( would have liked to see K.K perform), I enjoyed the review. For his intelligence, he took 'A few good men' apart in the crucial scenes.

Loved the review.

Raja, Forget the ho-hum crowd that only worries about/against SRK ,and some stars. Reviewing of this style needs courage, and not box office stars. You do, dude!

Any readers that don't have guts will always fend off by mouthing filthy one-liners.

Stop Bashin RAJA, With all his shortcomings, he is still better than TA and KM...
by Peace on Apr 05, 2008 03:05 AM  | Hide replies

GUYS, stop bashing Raja. From what I can read, he is more knowledgeable in this area than TARAN ADARSH (lame, catering to Marwari Housewife type reviews) and KHALID M (just read his Jodha Akbar review).
Indian Cinema has done commendable job in entertaining Indians everywhere, no doubt. Now the question is whether we stay there or really make it better. Remember Cinema is a a reflection of the audience. The smarter the audience, the better the cinema, at least some cinema. If you love rip-offs and don't care, people will churnout rip-offs. There is so much original literature in India. See movies like "Pinjar" based on Amrita Pritam novel. India can produce quality original movies but we need to start putting our money where our heart is. Lot of Indians simply watch crappy cinema "just because" and also they don't have better things to do on the weekend! If we want to improve cincema in India we need to be able to go without watching a movie for a month if no decent movie comes out.
I hate the guts of the film stars calling the reviewers "cockroaches" or something similar. Hollywood does not dare to call a Roger Ebert (Chicago Tribune) or Peter Travers (Rolling Stone) that. That is because the audience does decide to watch the movie based on the review. That simple fact helps establish the power of the critic. That is true with Oscar too. It is powerful because the movies it honors have an upswing in sales and rentals. Filmfare pretty much honors popcorn movies that everyo

A Helen Mirren who is old and can be compared to Jaya Bachchan wins the best actress for The Queen over a young starlet. Can that happen in Bollywood?
Bollywood takes us viewers for granted. They don't make different cinema (they have started) for a paan chewing tapori from Aligarh and for Austin educated Ipod Desi. Everyone gets the same "chalta hai" treatment.
I guess everyone who posts here is from the latter category rather than the former. So lets stand behind good films and give film making a makeover in Bollywood. Generally, you deserve what you get. Remember that the next time you spend $10 or Rs.400 on the next 'mindless' blockbuster like 'Welcome'. Peace out!

Excellent comment dude. We deserve what we get in Indian cinema. The main problem there is not segmentation of the movies. They should start making some meaningful movies for the multiplexes for the educated people.

Though Bollywood has a long way to go, they are better than the crap tollywood movie. They have a very simple formula for making movies. A hero bashing 100 villains with single hand and mouthing so called powerful dialogues, a useless heroine for songs who always falls for hero, a cruel villain with hundreds of sub villains hanging out from Tata sumos, a forced comedy track with 2-3 comedians, compulsive fights (in high volume) and compulsive 5 songs. And on top of that every crap movie breaks some bulls**t records always. Lastly THE fans, who have no work to do in life

This review by Raja Sen is true and honest, as I can see, along with lot of other movie reviews by him (except SRK movies).

People here are confusing the idea that a hit movie is necessarily not a good movie.

Lot of teen crude movies in Hollywood get ridiculed by the critiques yet they make tons of money. But nobody complain about the critiques.

Raja Sen is most of the times honest in critiquing a movie (unfortunately except SRK movies) and I'm happy that he is telling the truth rather than classifying the movie for the 'masses or classes; a la f**king Taran Adarsh (btw TA gets Rs 35 lacs for every 3.5 star review from the producer).
