The world hates Amitabh
by Debrup Bhattacharjee on Dec 03, 2007 08:13 AM  | Hide replies

I was reading the reactions of people to this article, and found that the discussion is more focussed on writing hate message on Amitabh then anything else. Sure, he is money, award, recognition hungry, but who is not? A person who does not run after money or power or fame in these days has to be put up on a pedestal because that person would belong to an extinct species of human beings. If Aamir Khan did not like Black, we can understand it as a matter of his personal choice, but must he publicly talk about it just before the release of his movie. Someone said he is sincere. He too is manipulative by being a chief guest in reality shows to promote his movie.

I have to agree with Aamir
by djdg on Dec 03, 2007 04:14 AM  | Hide replies

The message of the movie was about a blind person succeeding against all odds. Sanjay Leela Bhansali while getting the message across was trying too many things...cinematography and trying to present message in black and white colors for the movie. Bachchan mouthing "I am a genius lines". Yes we could see you have acted well, but those lines appear so cheap as advertising for a cheap motel. Too much emphasis on grandiose sets as well.

In that sense, the movies was cheap since it did not present message in a common man's environment.
I think that in general seems to be problem with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's movie. too tacky.

Aamir is sincere, thought provoking. Amitabh is award hungty, manupulative, money minded, hobnob with power brokers.
Orginize a award function and invite him for life time achievement award and he will ask how much he will be paid, come and dance with his bahu, beta and wife, talk big, take his purse and go. This is your "mega star"...hhh

Why?
by Anwar Ali on Dec 03, 2007 12:14 AM  | Hide replies

Why will Aamir say such things against Black?
That also before his film release.
Is this a kind of cheap publicity?
I thought Aamir is the only sensible person and had lots of faith in him. I was even planning to watch his upcoming movie on the first day. But not anymore. He is following the footsteps of other Khans.
Bachchan rightly said "With due respect, all the films that he features in and that I have had the great pleasure in watching, have all adhered to the very qualities that he dislikes in Black. From using the distinct handicap, or to be politically correct, challenged condition, of a crippled human in his cricket team in Lagaan, to the 'sensitivities' of a blind girl in Fanaa"
My question to Aamir is how many of your films are sensitive and nonmanipulative?
You first film QSQT is a copy of "Fire with Fire".
How is the story of Lagaan sensitive?
You have gone mad by criticizing Black. I expected you have lots of knowledge about films. If you are cursing Black you should know that it was a copy of Hellen Keller. See that movie and then comment on the original movie. With millions of Bollywood movies why do you have to suddenly comment on Black?
Sorry.... not spending any money for your movies anymore.. I will wait for some free pirated copy.
All you Khans first compare yourself with Madhuri Dixit.
BIG B bahut dur ki baat hai.

Anwar Ali did u read Amir's interview.Dont make comment on such cheap report of rediff. Here noone is gaining publicity except rediff. In interview Amir was specifically asked abt SLB and then to gain publicity the interviewer then again asked abt Black. Then amir commented this.
And by the way after seeing premier of Black Amir had already conveyed his message to AB that he didnot like the film and thats too after release of Black.
So this time when he was particularly asked abt Black what do u want.Give a lie answer which most policians always did.And in his blog he had already mention that Dilip Kumar and AB are his icon and he can never match their steps.

And with AB's comment----its immature by a mature guy.Maybe media had provoked him to give that and maybe media didnot tell him all the comments of the interview. But still AB should know the fact 1st then comment.

And again Anwar ali, before writing cheaply plzzz read Amir's blog and Amir's interview. Then u will know the difference and know how cheap this rediff is.

If Aamir were intelligent....he would have never made any comment about any film. That is cheap. Did you ever heard of any actor saying about other people's film? Aamir simply went way way down by this comment.

Tanmoy,

No use giving logical reasonings to Anwar Ali's and similar guys who are like rediff only, writing whatever they like ....something like "I am not watching next Aamir movie"....okay dude, who asked you to? Go and watch Black on (pirated?) CD again and bask in the glory.
Btw, have you seen movies like Koshish, Sparsh, even Khamoshi(SLB product)? They did not require grand sets and shouting characters to convey emotions. You expect Aamir to have knowledge about movies huh? How much do you have dude?

Amir is right
by Hsk on Dec 03, 2007 12:10 AM  | Hide replies

Somehow both are good actors - Amitabh's acting sucks now as he tends to look and play more like Sean Connery - hehe. Amir is a very fine actor and I compare him with Mohanlal who studies the character and gets under the skin of the role - he is just too amazing. Never watched Black - in fact stopped watching bollywood flicks unless some good ones- none there at the moment - bollywood movie making is still 20 years behind the modern movie making ( they copy western movie stories from the 1980s :-) ) and script writing and even acting ( looks so artificial ). Amir - he and Saif are natural actors.

Yes.. Amitabh is the worst actor. But one thing I don't understand. Why these guys (aamir jaise chhota mota actor) comments on BIG B and his movies?
They could talk about some Anupam kher, Boman Irani, raghuvir yadav movies...why don't they do so?
Why everybody is comparing themselves or commenting on BIG B?
You stopped watching bollywood movies? After watching Lagaan? Or 20 years back? What are you doing here?

Anwar Ali...one should compare with Anupam Kher before comparing with BIG B????

funny, Anupam Kher might not be a commmercial BUT he is way ahead of Bachanns et al..in terms of acting!!!
Looks at the way NFDC actors act versus these so called Bachhans..and commerial actors!!
Sure Amithab is a decen actor but Bomman Irani acts well too...

When I saw the movie BLACK, I felt that I was alone who was not moved by the movie in the crowd who were mesmerised by it. Now after seeing some of the messages in the forum I feel I too am in a small group. Aamir was to an extent correct in stating that the performances were over the top. Yeah they were over the top. And also the lavish art values did not let the characters to register with us. The amazing camera work and the lavish art direction which was totally un necessary for an emotional movie is uncalled for. I was disappointed for a brilliant concept to have gone kaput.. I ask Mr. Bachchan to take me task as well. Sad to note that SLB is like that always killing the characters with his passion for gargantuan sets and needless gloss over the subject. Same happened with DEvdas, Black and now Saawariya... Need more proofs??

I think the point is not whether Aamir liked it or not. The point is why he has to make this remark before his film release? We can argue our whole life searching sensible films in Bollywood.
The point is people like aamir should not make this type of comment.

Constructive criticism
by on Dec 02, 2007 11:00 PM  | Hide replies

Hmm.I admire both actors for their acting skills. However I did feel that the acting of the characters were exaggerated in Black. Its a personal opinion but I did feel the acting was too loud. I dont blame anyone for it, IT WAS the director that OKyed it. And yes the way the character of big B helped the girl was pretty inhumane. We have to understand its not Big Bs fault but whoever wrote or thought of it was not thinking right. I agree no mother would leave her daughter with a drunk teacher for 40 days however desperate she is!!! I think that was what Amir was saying, its sad that its been misinterpreted by both the media and Big B, it should have been taken objectively!!!

If you are looking for that type of judgement that "I agree no mother would leave her daughter with a drunk teacher" then you have seen nothing in this world. Read the last comment of Big B.
It is actually misinterpreted by you.
