Shame on you SRK
by Peter Lazar on Nov 18, 2007 01:40 PM

Dnt know why Media is promoting this flim....the obvious reason is most of them are its media partners, the flim lacks story and is very weak in its content. I guess MAFIA is promoting the Flim otherwise the flim has nothing.
The flim even made Fun of legends, apart from Manoj Kumar I feel SRK has humilated Rajnikant and poked fun on his international Fan following.

Saawaria
by Sam on Nov 18, 2007 08:52 AM  | Hide replies

The problem is that srk has a better hold on the media, hence the mdeia has a 'tilt' towards him. Is is 'coz of the 'dawood's' doallaran? I personally feel that saawaria is much much better than oso.

correct, I saw both movies and saawaria was much better than oso. Why would I pay Rs 500 to see a 'srk's 'fake' abs after all?

Siddharth bhai, OSO is a mass movie but its accepted even by class... but Sawariya is a boring movie....
Both have hyped the movie, its their startagy...

OSO is a good movie... I dont think its master piece or an excellent movie...Most of the good reviewers hasnt given 4/5 or 5/5...
Sawiryaa is a boring and headache movie... not worthy to watch...
Since its Diwali and long week end OSO has the edge... where people like to have fun and be happy...

Nice analysis
by Savio J on Nov 17, 2007 08:48 PM

Good post, the economics of filmmaking and distribution is indeed amazing.

Although this may seem bad for the consumer - wherein mediocore films get made and marketed - it still may be a good thing for small budget films. For every Saawariya, OSO and Lagaa Chunari, if we get one "Chak De" or "Manorama SFU" or "Bheja Fry" then it's worth it!! There is so much money in the pool now that producers are willing to take chances with smaller films, that they would have otherwise never touched.

I think UTV, ADLABS, YRF are going to change the face of the industry for the better.

Why cry for them?
by Hot Winter on Nov 17, 2007 04:04 PM  | Hide replies

If Saawarya is a more superhit then it will survive in the halls for more no of days and if OSO is more superhit it will survive in the halls for more no of days. So why make an issue out of it? Ony time will tell the answer.

It is not even no. of days in theater, it is no. of days in the minds of the people who watch! Very few movies get critical and public backing in one stroke! In 70s and 80s when DVD VCDs were not existing any movie use to make an average business atleast! Now this is the era of advertisments and media! It is not always an equation that good cinema means hit cinema.Amitabh Bacchan has also given some average movies but were hits!Dharmendra was never known to be an actor but watch his Satyakam! Manoj kumar in Shor, Shridevi in Sadma, very recently Ravina Tondon in Satta! Every one is having once share sometimes noticed sometimes unnoticed!According to me Bhansali has given enough and earned enough too! He is holding the torch to lead the Indian public in general and Cinema in perticular towards understanding the fine aspects of Cinema- the another name of creative expression.
