The argument still goes abt the best actor!!!!!! I could watch very few movies of the so-called great actors like mohanlal, mammootty and kamalahasan. All are talented actors but I would say mohanlal is the most natural and talented actor ever produced in India. So far I could watch the following mohanlal movies (Sometimes I could n't get along with the movie due to limited knowledge of their culture-but it does n't make any difference for understanding the talent)
1. Iruvar: May be this is one of the most underrated movie from Indian language. Still I could n't digest why mohanlal is not considered for national award for his great performance. 2. Manichitratharhu : This is one of the classic movie from Indian cinifield. This movie is known for its classic performance from shobhana ( I think she got national award for her performance). But I would say without mohanlal this movie would have been just an ordinary flick. I strongly recommend everyone to watch this movie. Recently I happened to see its tamil remake Chandhramukhi- A best example how a classic movie can be ruined. Now I heard priyadarshan is going to remake this malayalam movie in Hindi. 3. spadikam: Mohanlal could make the most unnatural thing natural in this movie. Sometime we feel like laughing when a hero hit 10 people around him. But mohanlal could portray his superman image most believable simply by his look and immense screen presence. 4. Kireedam- This movie is remade in hindi as gardish. The climax scene between mohanlal and his father is a world class performance. 5. company: I think his role in company is not a great compared to his malayalam flicks. But few moments like his look through the specs, telephonic conversation between him and ajay devgon etc are worth to watch. So please don't criticise any actor without watching his movies. Sometime it is pathetic to see some guys over here bringing regional factors just for the sake of praising their favourite or protecting their own interest.

See how many times the south indian stars have won the national award for the best actor? Much more than their north indian counterparts. Mohanlal -2 , Mammooty - 3, Kamal Hasan - 3. See how many times MALLU actors have won best actor award despite being a TINY DOT when compared to the HINDI film industry. The statistics speak for itself.

I heard one vitnamese guy telling that OM PURI is very good actor, lot films he came!!! I saw a movie of him recently too!!! Every where good actors there!!!
As the topic is Mohan Lal: I like Mohan Lal very much as an Alzhimers patient in Thanmatra, about to cry or really cried in the scene when his collegue didn't know that he had alzhimer's & thought that he might have taken marijuana & later on how his career spoils & then died in the film!!!
Regarding Kamal: Moontam Pirai, sagara sangamam etc. There are great actors in hindi like OM PURI and in other languages, but my my little knowledge won't be enough to review them. This is my first post in a cinema field in Rediff. I have written here with some purpose!!! Please bear with me, if I have said anything wrong or any body have any objections!!!
i was laughing when i saw the list of top 10 actors given by lalony..or wahatever he seriously seems to be mallu....otherwise who else will have mammooty(pathetic most of the times in top 10),thilakan,nedu menon in top 10 agrreed that nedu menon..and thilakan are good actors..and have achd a lot in malayalam cinema...but when it comes it to whole of india...they are nowhere in picture...THE PROB WITH mallus is that they think..that whatever is there in kerala is the best...and often forget abt whole of india when it comes to praising kerala...i wolud like to advice all mallus is that...dont forget that u r an indian after that a keralaite...i am a malu and i have seen lot of mallu films...and i know what kind of films..are being made oVer there...there is some really good films being made but majority are crap... guys like mohanlal are good actors...they act well in 1 film..and give over the top performances in 5-6 films...an actor should be consistent...and i dont know why is mohanlal signing such bad films..is it for money or what...he gives a stupendous performance in thanmathra...and gives 4-5 pathetic films.
any ways my top 10 actors would be not in any particular order
BIG B(whatever the malus say...or the southern part of indai..says..there has been no actor like big b in india...he is stupendous)

SANJEEV KUMAR(not many south indians know but sanjeev kumar is considered as one of the best actors ever india has seen)

MOHAN LAL(LEGENDARY ACTOR(thaalvattam,sanamanas,lal salaam,thanmathra,bharatam etc)...MEMORABLE FILMS...HE IS TOO GOOD)
KAMAL HAASSAN(THOUGH I HAVENT LIKED WHATEVER HE HAS DONE IN HINDI(MUMBAI EXPRESS,CHACHI 420, HE WAS GOOD IN SADMA THOUGH...AND GREAT ACTOR FROM TAMIL NADU...THE ONLY REASON SRK DID THE BIT ROLE IN HEY RAM WAS BECOZ HE WANTED TO SHARE SCREEN SPACE WITH THIS LEGEND...THAT ITSELF SHOWS..HIS STATURE)

this list has commerciaaly sucessful stars like srk,aamir khan..also...who have acted in 45-50 films...and have gained lot of popularity!!1though...aamir is considered as good actor...srk is in the list bcoz he has done lots of good films...and has lot of blockbusters to his name

Cmon wake up charlie boy. SRK is a one dimensional creature. Can't even be termed as an actor. He is successful though. But north or south Mohan lal is the best. Every body acts in crap movies for money.

Kamal comes a close second. He is really versatile and talented. Only problem is he overacts sometimes. He is a multi-faceted talent, most can only dream of. But, Lal is the best natural actor, so effortless. That makes him numero uno. Somebody called him Robert De Niro of the east.

Kamal is the best actor much better than Mohan lal..Can Mohan lal act in the role done by Kamal in Swathi muthyam ? Definitely he cannot come close to kamal. Even mallus will not accept mohan lal doing such a role.

I know this Spooky Butcher - His gredge towards southies is because no matter what he did, the southies he competed with in his life were all better than him. His NORTHIE girlfriend too left him for a southie...and worst still..he adores europeans...and boasts about having a complexion similiar to them. He thinks dark skinned people are all lowly creatures.. So now you have an idea of what kind of guy he is !!. For us, he was always an outcast, and for his attitude..trust me, he really is a tribal ! So just ignore this moron..not even a second of yours is worth talking about this guy.
