Guys, no doubt that Mohanlal is a good actor...acting doesn't comes by looks or by figure, else all the super models would have given super-duper hits.
anyway, i think i have seen only one mohanlal movie, company....and he was superb in the role of police officer...the way he delivered dialogues, especially in the scene when he threatens the local goon and catches the tainted police officer are just too good. He is better than other mallu hero, mamoothy, only thing he lacks is proper hindi.....if he polishes his hindi, he can fill the spot created by late sanjeev kumar...another gem of an actor !!!

actually Ram gopal varma exactly wanted that south indian accent...mohanlal was potraying an officer from south india...thatz the reason why he sounded like that (doesn't speak proper hindi)

Oh,and one more thing.Hindi is just one of the 22 official languages of India. FYR,from wiki "Neither the constitution nor the laws of India accord the status of "National Language" to any language in India[1]. Indian law states that no language will be made the National Language unless and until all the constituent states of the Union of India accept it. South Indian heroines are more vulgar with their actions even if they do not reveal. What South Indian movies show - Heroines wrigling in the rains in drenched Shiffon sarees; fat and pot bellied heroes nuzzling around the heroine's curves shamelessly! Do you call it decency?
When two Tamils get to gether, they immediately switch to babbling in Tamil showing little regards for a third non- Tamil person. Can any one call these good etiquettes?

In Kerala,we sometimes get into argument over who is a better actor in India Mammotty or Mohanlal.Very often Thilakan,Nedumudi Venu Gopi,Kamal all finds supporters.But no one ever gives a passing thought to think of a North India actor(Ompuri,N.Shah aand all included).AB won national award for Agneepath,with a casting vote from a Northie chairman beating Thilakan(Perunthachan).See both the movies and decide yourself who deserves it.Likewise Raghuvaran(daivathinte vikruthikal) also lost out to some quota candidate(I think Mithun Chakrovarthy).
Perhaps we don't watch enough Hindi movies. Perhaps we don't understand the subtle nuances of acting.
Or perhaps those north indian actors aren't good enough.
Tell you what,there is Mammotty,Lal,Kamal(3 2 3 national awards) and then the rest.And then Bollywood.
You northis why you come to south india for tech Jobs? All the migrant workers from north india come to south for livelyhood. WE are giving bread and treat them as brothers. we don't make any distinction between south indians and north indians. We consider everyone as INDIANS. I think you don't know what does it mean to be an indian. It is not merely speaking HINDI you will become INIDANS. SHAMW ON YOU.....
Pretty cheap stuff from the person who wrote the piece abt dress code... Appreciate talent and note most importantly the dress was absolutely decent simple and thats the way one needs to live -without frills and fancy stuff..even South Indian movies and Malayalam in particular reflect the naturalism and simplistic art of movie making -wonder if the gentleman(!!!) cares to read and more so if he understands.
We should not indulge in this north/south bashing. Both have their own qualities... so if u want to watch a 7 song-5 fight, 6 lovestory melodrama of 4 hrs, dont watch malayalam movies and especially a mohanlal one. He is known for his subtle performance and has wone critical acclaim throughout the world. Alas that doesnt include the masala Filmfare or Startdust award. So he must not have a clue about what the word 'dress sense' means for the lot their. Anyways guys dont want to waste much time comparing mohanlal with the northie actors... bcoz there is no comparison at all.

Mohanlal is a south Indian star and does not represent India as a whole. Moreover,I doubt if he can speak Hindi fluently. And these southies call themselves Indians and do not know hoe to speak our National Language. SHAME ........ SHAME !

Mr cool dude, hindi is ur mother tongue, so its not diffcult for u to speak. My brother we south indians can speak & understand hindi, its u r wrong impression. Anyway u north indians are so much proud of ur language, why u guys come down to south for education and jobs, why u don't find job in ur state. So donn't crticize other language. India does not have a National Language. Hindi is an official language, like every other Regional language. Please push that little fact into your north Indian head.
The constitution scruplously avoids mentioning the phrase 'National Language' itself, because 'Hindi as a National Language' to some folks in the South is like showing a Red Rag to a Bull. The last time they tried it there were Language riots in the South - goes to show you how much we South Indians like Hindi people and their language.
