sivaji was entertaining when Shankar introduce some new concepts to tamil cinema. Especially the Open air theathre fight featuring 'King Kong',the glass set for Sahana song, 'Vaji Vaji' mansion song, Athiradee' song in a London resemblance Venice City set, mottai boss,'ballelaka' song painting of rajini on dancers body, everything is athuruthu. It is known that Shankar had spend a fortune on all this. Even the Style song that makes Rajini white complexion is amazing and involves 25 technicians to do that in CGI for one year.All this need to be commended to Shankar and his team. Lets hope Shankar's next film Robo will be more entertaining and surpass the hollywood standing.
Generally Rajini movies are not known for strong story line, however when you have him paired with Shankar, who has given movies with strong themes, you expect a lot. With all the pre release hype, expectations were even higher, however, disappoiting is the least that we can say abt Sivaji.
Generally Rajini's introduction song sets the tempo of the movie, like Baasha, Annamalai, here intro song is poor imagination. Seems like Shankar is running out of ideas, most of the scenes and song pictuarisation seems to be influenced from his previous movies. Rajini, Vivek comedy evokes some laughter, it becomes dragging when the whole 1st half is based on that. 2nd half starts with a bang, however it defies all logic, Suman capable of changing the government is afraid of Rajini and Vivek when they black mail him infront of IT office. There are much big holes like, CBI arresting Rajini, just based on the laptop with out knowing whats in it, Rajini being electrocuted and coming alive. Total Kadhilu Poo. Movie could have easily been trimmed by about 1/2 hr, everything seems to have been overdone, 1st half comedy could have been chopped, all fight scenes are completely overdone, particulary the 1st fight in guitar shop.
Pluses, Rajni has never looked better, he is as good as his Dhalapathi days. Sujatha's dailogues are good in patches, Shreya lookes gorgeous, however doesn't emote well where she needs to. ARR songs good, however background score too loud One thing is for sure, th
THE MOVIE HAS THE SAME SUBJECT TOLD BY SHANKAR HIMSELF UMPTEEN TIMES, BUT STILL HAS A FRESHNESS. IN THIS MOVIE SHANKAR TRIED TO REFORM THE ECONOMY WITH LITTLE OR NO BLOODSHED THAN ANNIYAN AND INDIAN. BUT THE CONCEPT WAS SHADOWED BY RAJNI'S ANTICS. I THINK SHANKAR WAS IN A DILEMMA OF CHOOSING WHICH TO BANK UPON, THE CONTENT OR RAJINI AND CHOSE THE LATTER EVENTUALLY. THIS MOVIE LIKE ANY OTHER RAJNI MOVIES IMPRESSES HIS FANS ONLY(FROM TAMIL NADU)

That might be your perspective. But in all the movies you can find negative points. There are lot of positive points to look into this movie. Be an optimistic and try to appreciate the good work.
