Sivaji The Boss
by jenith on Jun 16, 2007 04:43 PM

Hi Friends,

I saw it Sivaji yesterday,

Rajini can act 100 films afterwards.

Excellent performance of Super Star Rajini.

6ku apuarm Sevenda Sivajiku appuram Evanda
(this is punch dialogue By vivek, Tr screen screams by the fans, we also did very good dance with banian as so sweating in chennai)

Shankar expolored Rajini's all elements (style, action, comedy, dialogue, dance) in more than maximum level.

All songs are very good especially Athiraddekaran Machan, Oru Kudai.

Dont miss it....especially the motta rajini's mega acting in last few minutes

just watched the movie in the worst theatre ever (FunAsia, Houston,TX) and with so much to complain about the theatre I enjoyed the 3.5 hrs of non stop fun. It is like all the Rajini movies in one. I cant say it as a shankars movie, had Shankar used someone else it would have been a sequel to his earlier files (Gentleman, Mudhalvan and anniyan). I don%u2019t want to comment about Rajini%u2019s acting%u2026 Emm some may say rajini is style and kamal is acting.. Here he does have both and for some reason he does it with a mature outlook towards his own industry.

Enough of those entire BS. Now for the review, This is a no spoiler review :

It is easy to review if I split this one

Rajini,

This is the same old Rajini story line only with a minor modification. The journey is now RICH-POOR-RICH. I was not a rajini fan before but i can swear that it was all hiding until I saw sivaji. There is a aura, a vibe, dynamism in rajini all through out the movie. The way in which he compares him with sivaji, MGR and kamalhasan, The dialogue delivery, note that rajini does not need to deliver a punch dialogue anymore he employs vivek for that purpose, the Action sequence, the way he made us laugh. The whole movie rode back on rajini and he proved he can carry that 60C of production cost into a blockbuster which I feel he did. There is a full song that has all known rajini styles we talked or emailed our friends about (some called those emails as ridiculous and joked about south

I have seen the movie on the first day.Its totally a Rajnimovie with Shankar brand.Rajini is looking smart despite his old age.But like before he is not able to dance faster!Still he manages! Some scnes he looks young some old.Last half an hour his new avathar as MGR is rocking.
Sivaji is a total entertainer.

Pseudo Nym
THE ULTIMATE BLOCK BUSTER
by Pseudo Nym on Jun 16, 2007 03:46 AM

I am a kind of person who likes to watch all kinds of cinema, I am a great fan of Tom Hanks, Al pacino and Anthony Hopkins, they infuse their individuality into the characters that they play, I have my own list of favorite Hollywood movies and especially a Brazilian movie called City of god and a Palestinian movie called paradise now are my all time favorite movies belonging to the list of foreign language category, the movies that I like are liked by me because of their individuality and "SIVAJI IS OUR SUPER STARS MOVIE AND EVERY FRAME OF THE MOVIE HAS OUR SUPER STARS TRADE MARK ON IT" and an ordinary fan like me couldn't have asked for more. IT'S A BLOCK BUSTER !!!!!!!!!!!!

Joom Barabar Joom - Another reason why Northie culture sucks
by JK on Jun 15, 2007 08:43 PM  | Hide replies

Same old shit. NRI's swaping fiancees instead of wives now. How gross can it get? Rajni movies and south indian movies relate to common man on the street while the bollywood flicks encourage wife, gal friends and fiancee swaping in foreign locales. You can hardly find a poor hero, every tom dick and harry is super rich running around skimply clad babes.

Bollywood has a lot of soul searching to do. They are spoiling their own culture. I hope my northie friends wont disagree to it.

Nothing personal but south indians marry cousins and that don't suck, right!! Movies are taking cinematic liberty and you don't correlate with real life. You didn't go to sivaji for real life story!! So, tell me what sucks!! Stop criticising culture just because one film is showing something outside india.

You keep hearing things like this, which is false. You will have chief minister with multiple wives and individual takes millions in dowry but still you are the best. I am not complaining about ur culture if that is good for you.

Sivaji- The Boss
by Naresh Kumar on Jun 15, 2007 08:23 PM

OK, the big moment has finally arrived! The best ever combination of Indian cinema - actor/producer/director/music director have finally had their film released worldwide for the public to see and enjoy.

Sivaji- The Boss rocks for sure, but Shankar seems to be over-dependent as a director on his 'social welfare' message! His devastating combination of technology and pure lavishness onscreen has made him survive film after film in the last decade and more, inspite of a stereotyped approach. His gamble with Rajnikant spouting messages (eradicating black money, empowering the underprivileged) has paid off by and large. That is largely because of the superstar charisma. One wonders if he had selected a younger actor, what would have been the case? Vikram, for example would have found this a sequel to his 2005 hit Anniyan!!

Rajnikant had to deliver this adrenaline-pumping performance - despite his senior citizen age- to make the film count. He does it in his own inimitable manner. Other than that, the Shankar brand of movie making tends to rankle! Caricatures, puppetry, mega canvas, huge sets and a weak villain - this would have been rejected- but for Rajnikant.

The film may not be an all-time blockbuster but a Rajni fan is one with a IQ of a 11-year old, irrespective of his age!! So surviving the hype which surrounded the release of the film would be difficult for the average movie goer! In all, everyone is assured of paisa vasool fare, but Shankar needs to rework his f
