Just when all looked lost, in walked a starry eyed Amar Singh and introduced hope, and the Ambani connection into Amitji's life (and those large superstitious rings on his fingers.) The success of KBC that followed, rekindled his celebrity, fan following, and brought endorsements, movie offers - and wealth - back into Big B's life.
It may be difficult for us fans to comprehend but most of Amitji's assets today are essentially post KBC (and post ABCL bankruptcy). All the block busters - including Deewar and Sholay - from his golden years, and nostalgic dewy eyed fans like us, dont translate to money on his balance sheet. We are mere Goodwill! ("Oof tumhare oosul, tumhare adarsh. Kis kaam ke hai tumhare is oosul jo ek waqt ki roti tak nahi bana sakta?")
The hard knocks of life taught him that we fans are fickle. Here today, gone tomorrow. It is money, that keeps his - much like our - life going.
Amitji strode the world of cinema churning blockbusters for the best of 4 long decades! He left us spell bound all these years making us feel like Alice in wonderland. Every time we went to the theaters and looked at the silver screen he gave us one magical performance after another. He rarely failed us. He gifted us some of life's greatest moments. And some of our fondest memories.
At 64, and with time running out, Amitabh realizes that his best years are behind him. He has more years lived, than left.
All good things in life come to an end. However hard he tries, he may never be able to produce another Deewar or Sholay. Not even one last time. Not even for us.
All the great dialogue writers, sriptwriters and directors of his hey days are no longer around. The hey days themselves have long gone by. Times have changed. Tastes have changed. People have changed. The industry itself had changed. Even the reigning Shahenshah of Bollywood has changed!!
All good things in life come to an end. Amitabh has accepted this reality.
Only one thing remains the same - Our expectations of him.
Perhaps it is time we changed too.
Lets enjoy his talents, voice, songs, his mere presence, the happiness of seeing him on TV and films while we still can. In addition to being his, and our, passion - his acting also happens to be his livelihood. Lets not begrudge him that by holding his every role against our stringent moral expectations.
Lets celebrate and enjoy Amitabh's talents while we still can.

Why we say continuously that he is god.He is a good actor.And he is doing whatever is like any one else.But he is also comparable.No one in this world is perfect.Its only our nostalgic mind that we creat this icons.This is 2007 yaar.Plz wake up.If ur proffesion is acting then u also can beat BigB.Bcoz for our generation only sky is the limit.
I agree with other peoples who are saying Big B doing nothing wrong to promte his son to the world so every single father have to do something for his son so i am with Big B.
Mr. Bachchan is doing only what Rakesh Roshan did a long time back for his son, Dharmendra did for his and so many others do for theirs. Abhishek is not only amitabh's son, he's also a legitimate superstar. With Guru taking a fantastic opening (all the tradewalas were lying) and then shutting them all becoming a solo hit, Abhishek has beaten all the critics and haters to the ground.

Rakesh Roshan did not praise Hrithik for Dhoom 2 by calling in the media. He only promotes his movies and obviously he has to praise Hrithik. In any case all his movies with Hrithik get amazing openings and are blockbusters, so if someone interviews him for that , is he supposed to criticize Hrithik?And Hrithik has got best actor awards for all these movies!Also,without the engagement announcement Guru would have sunk.If it was so easy for any father-son jodi to become successful, why dont we have a single such hit pair in the industry, three hits in a row, each bigger than the previous one..
Amitabh Bachan...God*..what is wrong with him these days???....Stop over prasing your son....I don't think Abhishek is good in acting....He is horrible...except that..he has a nice personality...which makes people hook...God! ...people don't compare Hrithik with abhishek.....Even though i hate Hrithik....but...i really think..he is superb in acting...whether a restraint one or..superhero or..a lover boy...he is exceptional....And u know what..Abhishek can't even dance....look at his..stupid...Right here Right now...it looks like...wannabe ...Usher.. Only thing that i like about Bachan family is..Jaya bachan...a dignified lady who acts as her age and give some honest answers...
and Finally about Guru...you thought that was a mind blowing movie...god!...it was boring as hell...and you know..what the trade pundits said....Guru got...20-30% in the opening..until...the engagement news broke out and people...started watching the film and this shows how Indian audience are....dumb....also.....next time..when abhi needs a hit.with aish...just...get married...and..people..will wonder... Hopefully...it's all my opinion and you guys are welcome to...oppose it...

A new question. Does amit feels insecure of competitors?
Amitabh has been a very successful actor He has practically lived in his roles in Zanjeer, Anand, Don, Sholay, Muqaddar ka Sikander, Deewar (old) and AAA. He never acknowledges the other acots performance openly.
Why on the earth does he shy away from competition? First, he refused to sign a film with Rajesh Khanna, next Shatrughan Sinha, and Vinod Khanna and now SRK? What's going on guys?

All his colleagues and competitors were so badly outclassed by the Big B that any more humiliation would have probably ended their careers there and then.
Dont u guys remember Vinod Khanna going mad or Shashi Kapoor feigning sickness or SRK suddenly doing all the AB's old roles e.g. Don n KBC??
All these guys found out where they stand when compared to AB and thats why they chickened out!!
Comparing Big B with SRK is like comparing Raja Bhoj (AB) with Gangu Teli's poor relative!!
Did u guys not see the new Don or SRK's KBC? His Bhojpuri in Don was pathetic, his expressions were so superficial and he just didn't have the aura of a Don.
Amitabh is not only the biggest Indian star ever, he is also the best actor ever - Indian or otherwise.
AB dominated the Indian celluloid space for close to 3 decades and is still numero uno. Most of his contemporaries like Dharmendra, Rajesh K, Jeetendre etc have faded into oblivion but AB is still beating the likes of SRK and other younger stars.
While apart from some teenaged girls, there is no unanimous opinion on who the best Khan is (SRK, Salman, Aamir or Saif) - how can he be compared to the Bachchan?

he is ailing, feeble & many times frequently admitted to hospital, if he has so much confidence on his son then why do he is working more than his son. before he leave from his world he want to do tooooo much of publicity for him with the help of amrsingh, but if some thing happend to amit ji then any one will take abhishek for new film doubtful

how stupid is that Arianne? AB is 64, he is old!! That is no surprise. With old age comes sickness and feeble-ness. The same would happen with everybody in their old age (incl you & SRK).
Whats commendable is that inspite of his advanced years, he is busier than many people (you and maybe even SRK). He is doing great work at an age when most people are content with spending time with their grand kids.
One thing that he compares his career with son's career.He got hits at 31, his son also.he was flop earlier his son was also. BUT ALL These people forgeting one thing. When Amitabh was flop in begining for 4 years.He was non entity to every one.No one knows who he is.This is not the case with AB Jr.Since his first release every one knows who is?? Amitabh in begining of career never got films from big banners,big directors.where as AB Jr is doing all these without giving any solid hit. Guru which is just an average hit movie (Price 16 cr. Spent another 3-4 cr on last month promotion,net earning from BOI:31 cr after 3 weeks,will earn another 3-4 cr only) is being promted as very big hit.Like he has given all time blockbuster
It was desperate attempt by Bachchan family. One thing can be coincident not so many: 1)As soon as Dhoom2 becomes hit and all megzines.sites gives Hr thumbs up and most imp AB jr thumbs down, all three went to Banaras Temples.Fully knows that media attention will shift. 2)Putting heavy or emotion promotion to wtach movie.Giving Interview on very paper ,channel.But opening was just 50 -60%.So came the engagement annoucement.(Although surprise for Big B and proposal was sent just after one day.
