Amitabh's fall from grace
by crazykiyare on Feb 02, 2007 04:41 AM  | Hide replies

The most thankless comment of the year: "KBC was becoming monotonous. I felt I was becoming mechanical. As an artiste, I needed to have the butterflies in my stomach - that had stopped." The most pompous comment of the year: "That's too little" (on Brand Bachchan being worth Rs 700 crore). Finally, the most graceless comment of the year: "I would like to see Shah Rukh Khan as an inspiration. I want to do better, make better films, so he can copy me." Coming from a man seen as the millennium's most humble living legend, these remarks betray a curious pomposity in Amitabh Bachchan, an unbecoming fall from grace. This is certainly not the man who once said, "I have never really been confident about my career at any stage."

These are excerpts form a column in Daily Pioneer. (http://www.dailypioneer.com/columnist1.asp?main_variable=Columnist&file_name=ganguli%2Fganguli57.txt&writer=ganguli)

Add to that the full page advt of his SON. What I cant get is why does Amitabh have to promote a film when he does not star nor direct it?

All the argument of a father being proud of son's acheivements sound fake. Do we get Full page advts from John Abraham's father proclaiming his son is the best coz his film WATER got nominated to the top 5 at Oscars?

Some people also seem to argue the Rakesh Roshan does this, but he only gives interviews when his own film releases. Did we hear him tom tom the fact that my Son HRITHIK was the best thing about Dhoom 2 he must be thanked by Aditya for taking the brand ahead?

Or do we hear Aamir take out full page advt?

SRK too seems to have mellowed down these days and dont make pompous statments.

The Bachchan family is becoming too manipulative for their own good.
They have lost my respect post GURU.

Whatever you think the success of fils ( like guru) depends on not our querrel or abuses. It contriubutes nothing to the success of the films. This media bash is the creation of the their own. Why pull the stars in to this. Fils success depands on music, style, editing, touching topic and finally.... acting. When SRK openly tortures Bachan with his tactics, this one small statement is nothig.

I think you are the only one who watch SRK's KBC. People are not watching as everyone feel it is monotonous.

Any actor who can play a mentally challenged person as HRITIK did in KOI MIL GAYAA and do it with APLOMB...with ABSOLUTE PERFECTION can play just about ANY ROLE TO PERFECTION...Lagaan would be a cakewalk for HRITIK. And this man would have played GURU truly like a GURU...Unlike your MILKSHAKE BACHCHA...who really has a lottt of growing up to do... improve his convent diction and give at least a decent performance...it will be longggggggggg time before he comes even close to being a guru!!! looks like Milkshake is destined only to be a 'shishya'...that too a bad one !!! A true acting role which is a benchmark for young heroes of today is HRITIK'S KOI MIL GAYAA... which only an actor of the calibre HRITIK ROSHAN is capable of !!!

Calm down Amitabh
by on Feb 01, 2007 08:24 PM  | Hide replies

Yes! Amit is a good actor. Neither SRK or Abhishek, no one can match his performance in films he acted in 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. In real life Abhishek may be agentleman, down to earth and humble. It is not the point of contention.

First of all, why on the earth people call this human being 'Big B'. Is it it because he is tall or a famous actor? Well! there are other personalities in the film world too (in the past and present) who are as good as him or even better thaan him in their own disciplines. Very patronising way of addressing.

Amitabh has passed his 'best before' date. Abhishek survived only because of the Bachchan tag. Amitabh going ga ga over his son's performance in GURU is nothing but a PR stunt. It was sick watching Amit talking in his interview that he wants to watch GURU 100 times. As a father he has everyright to be proud of his son, but the way amit is singing praises on his son now is too much. In an interview when he was asked whether SRK is competing with him, he said " he is 25 yrs yonger to me . I do not think there is a competetion between us". In tha same interview amit says "I would like to compete with Abhishek". Give a break Amit.

I hope he will shut up. Its high time amit concentrates on his acting rather than commenting on Abhishek's as after Prakash Mehra's SHARAABI, I have nt seen a decent film of amitabh where he has nor overacted. If either Anupan kher or naseeruddin shah had given the role in Black, they would have done much better and natural than Mr Bachchan.

You are right. These actors deserve acting coaching. I think they do not see how other great actors act. Even if thay watch some western classics again and again and again they would learn how to act naturally. I dont think they have the time to do that. Neither they have the time to get reviews from the general public. That is why they look stale and boring. Even our so called directors are way behind their counter parts in Holywood cenamas. They do not know hoe to make the actors act. They just follow the seniors. That is all.

yes Big B has all the right to promote his son as he is doing as he is a proud father.
the people had written him off when he was not delivering and Big B had kept quiet but after the succuess of Dhoom and his performance in opther films were also very good
so Big B has to be proud
give a break Guys .... Big B is abisheks father so when he does good a father feels proud you guys will also feel the same when your sons or daughters make u proud .

Author of this article seems to be one of the Sharukh's stooges. The most manipulative actor in the industry.
Dad going gaga over his son..whats the big deal. Let them be happy. Don't get disturbed unless it is hard for u to believe that Abhishek is indeed improving many leaps and bounds with every movie he has done.

Shahrukh after all these years ..is he anything alone?...he is a package with chopras and johars..outside he is just a hammering voice.

Rem SRK'w best films are Kabhi Haa Kabhi naa, devdas, swades & none of them are by the chopra's & Johars. So plz stop making a deal of the power behind SRK's sucess. Success comes to those who deserver it.SRK truly deserves every bit of it.

What's so surprising about a father going gaga over his son's success. Even if there was some hyperbole involved, it is only of a doting father. Has Amitabh lost the right to gloat over his son because he is the Big B? WTF?

AB and Baby Bachchan have lost it!
by on Feb 01, 2007 05:59 PM  | Hide replies

Media seems to have gone ballistic to make the "SON of Film Industry" a legend even before he delivers a clean HIT! The likes of ManiRatnam and RGV are such directors who can even make non-actors act. Remember Fardeen Khan in Jungle?

Papa Bachchan has gone ballistic in his praise for his son. If he says his son has gone beyond him, its only a fool who would believe it.

Also, at this age Amitabh needs to conduct himself in a dignified way and retire or atleast get out of the rat race. Take a leaf out of Lataji and Yash Chopra etc and atleast witdraw from award ceremonies. Let the new talent evolve. We all know you are great!

Instead of taking postshots at actors half your age like SRK, it would do well if you encourage them.

Instead of being Nostradamus and predicting every film of Abhishek to be a HIT, let him grow.
Bhagwan aap ko subhudhi dey!
