One mention of anything related to Kerala and all malloos pounce on the "chance" to promote Malayalees and Kerala. Be it Sreesanth or movies or just plain tourism. First name one entrepreneur from Kerala and then blow ur trumpets.

Hello Vinay... Why do I get this feeling that u certainly don't like Malayalis. I understand that patriotism is an inherent character in almost everyone but that doesn't mean u could classify it, esp. in the case of Malayalis, as "blowing ur trumpets". Come on dude! Is that u talking or ur insecurity? I don't take an estimate on the number of entrepreneurs from Kerala but I'm from Kannur district & I know that Captn Krishnan Nair is from there. Well who is he? The founder of the Leela Group of Hotels & Resorts! Not entrepreneur enough? & if we sit & trace the roots of most celebrities, we find a lot of malayalis in Bollywood, Hollywood, & so on. As for Mohanlal, he has proved his acting capabilities with the number of State, National & International Awards that he's won. Chill man! Why don't we aim to achieve something instead of basking in the success of somebody else.

Geez. Dont get me wrong. How can I not like malayalees. They are the ones all over the gulf, all over India, and all hailed as hardworking, good citizens. Of course they do make it a point to get in more malayalees wherever they are. But I dont think I have mentioned anywhere that I dont like them. Just look at the context. The article is about a film starring Mohanlal and look at the comments. All about Kerala, Kashmir and how Kerala and keralites are so superior to anything else in the world.
Mr. Bombay India and Mr. On (the other repliees to my post), what I mentioned about entrepreneurs from Kerala was right. Just accept the truth. You can count on your single finger the entreprenuers from Kerala. Leela, and Rediff, thats it right!

Vinay...u claim others are talking out of context about the artice by mentioning kerala and kashmir etc... ur not doing any different either by talking about Entrepreneurs...This is an article about an ACTOR and internationally accepted as a good actor.. Lets not get into mudslinging. As an actor Mohanlal's work speaks for itself. Besides its not sensible to comment on something we arent very well informed about.. It would be considered silly.

why are fixated on this entrepreneur factor. A community's progress is measured by many factors. Agreed some communities excel in business, but others excel in education, some in agriculture etc. All these skills together make a great economy. But if each community resents the others and try to constantly put them down we can never be a united country.
And the thing abt mallus being everywhere...wake up! There are indians from all communities spread all over the world. Soon we can spread indian language and culture all over the world, like the britishers did a century back.

I beg to differ.. I have seen both Kashmir and Kerala and the beauty cannot be compared. Kashmir is wonderful, with the Himalayas and the snow capped moutains.. It has an untouched beauty about itself.. While Kerala is mesmering too with it's backwaters and greenery...

Both places are great. Just because Kerala is beautiful, it does not make Kashmir any lesser

Mr Raju Sunder, Just because you watch only shakeela's movies do not think all malayalam movies are like that. YOu remind me the story where blindmen describe an elephant by the part they felt. Malayalam movie industry may be in the peak it enjoyed once, when they used to make beautiful and different moveies, but still good movies come out from Kerala.

Shakeela movies are made for people like you Mr. Sunder. We in Kerala watch Mammootty, Mohan Lal and host of magnificient character artists give superbly naunced performances in all time classics like Kazhcha, Thanmathra, Bharatham, Ponthan Mada and innumerable other movies.
Wake up to the fact, even in its worst ever period that is today, Malayalam movies are far better than all other language movies.
And I am telling this being a Karnataka Born, Non-Malayalam speaking person.

Awards or rewards; You need a motivation to do something in life. Malayalam Actors act for awarsd because they are intelligent fellows and not Morons like you.
Why do you work? Don't you expect Salary? Don't you like rewards and incentives?
Awards are like Oxygen to good actors. Only Good ones will win awards. Not your rigged Filmfare awards, that are given to Shah Rukh Khan every year for his non-stop hamming!
Great ones like Mohan Lal and Mammootty win hosts of awarsds.
What is the problem with you?

Amithab Bachan on Mohanlal

Mohanlal is a `fantastic actor'

"One of the greatest actors in the country," that's how Big B describes Mohanlal, who has been cast in the new `Sholay' with him. "He is extremely natural, a fantastic actor. Not many actors have that quality. He does it with so much ease. There's no arching of the eyebrows or making your eyes red, screaming or shouting. But he will convey that same trauma and intensity in a very natural manner which is a unique quality. I have never seen it in any other actor." Great praise from a glamorous veteran indeed.

It is extremely difficult to compare Kamal Hassan with Mohan Lal.
Kamal Hassan is essentially a narcissist star cum performer. He is a better all round performer than any other actor in India.
But when it comes to simple portrayal of characters, Mohan Lal is the all time great.
I have yet to see any Indian actor coming anywhere close to his performances in movies like: Thanmathra, Thazhwaram, Kireedom, Bharatham, Devasuram and many more classics.
Most importantly, when Mohan Lal stupidly tried to play larger than life Demi-God in film after film between 2001 and 2005, the intelligent Malayalam movie buffs rejected him. The same people whole-heartedly welcomed him back in films like Thanmathra, Vadakkumnathan and Rasathanthram.

I do agree with your points Mr Govind Raj.
But if you observe closely with both of these careers, you will find that Kamal hassan is a perfionist.
Yes, there are sizable number of characters, which only Mohanlal could do, but there are at least as many movies (if not more) that only Kamal Hassan could perform. eg Abhay, Nayagan, Hey Ram, Virumandi, Chachi 420, Tndian etc etc

the above mentioned movies were made just for Kamal.

see you yourself agreed that Mohanlal could not make succesful 'MASALA larger-than-life' movies.

But an actor is complete if he can portray all possible roles. Kamal Hassan is one such person who has atleast tried to cover up all roles possible.
Watch out for his 10-role 'Dasavatharam' and the 3 min clipping of his epic 'Marudanayagam'.

People used to daada kondke , salmaan khan , MGR ,NTR etc etc cannot appreciate quality cinema...

so , its utterly nonsensical to advocate the goodness of malayalam movies or Mohan to these morons..

Till now no one could find out a medicine for jealousy. Most of the people talking rubbish about Mallu films and Mohanlal, does not even have a film industry of their own language. And these type of comments coming out of frustration. A small state like Kerala makes 50 plus movies every year and our unfortunate guys have seen only Silk Smitha.. lol. It is becase they are interested to see only Silk Smitha.
Malayalam movies are very poor that is why most of the other Indian languages copy Malayalam films. So why should we go and watch those copied films when original is with us.
