Another Issue, Courtesy Our Media

It was small issue and may be just for ratings but our media as usual got their story and exploited people's emotions.People, it is just a show and they are acting. It could have been different issue if she was treated like that at may be airport or some govt. place (even though we know that already happens) but for the show...
Let us first fix racism in our own country.

rally against racism
by Jiniti Shah on Jan 18, 2007 03:12 PM

Coloured people around the world need to rally against such blatant bullying and racist remarks, the whites of this world need to understand that this is a new world we are living in and India is no longer a poor third world country and needs to be shown proper respect we deserve

Its all publicity stunt
by jayaram govindan on Jan 18, 2007 03:10 PM

I heard her say that she represents India and that she is racially abused. It this an International competition and is she taking part as the repesentative of India. Absolute crap. She is there for money and just money. She is getting more publicity as bonus too. If she really means what she say, she should leave the show and go home.

Stop Whining !!
by shankar on Jan 18, 2007 03:09 PM  | Hide replies

I think we Indians do not have the right to whine abt the racist-attitude of the West. We discriminate our own country-men on the basis of their community, origins, language, region, etc. We have terms like Bongs, Mallus, Gults, Sardars, etc...and these terms are very safely used in the Indian society with hardly any concern abt the ppl being addressed by that term. And when some Westener calls our people "an Indian", we raise such a huge cry and shout as if that person has insulted the whole nation. Whoever is cribbing this whole episode about the "Shilpa-Big Brother" issue, please make sure that u first give respect to people within our own country, regardless of their race, language, etc. We, asians in general, are the most hypocritic people of the world. Tough to accept, but very true my friends

Height of Hypocracy
by saji vasudevan on Jan 18, 2007 03:08 PM  | Hide replies

The whole episode shows our hypocricy and nothing else. Only when it pinches self people say its wrong, till then we enjoy. We all abuse others by race. Calling Keralites as "Mallus" or calling Sardarji's "Bara Baje", is'nt it racism. First all of us should set our house in order before we point fingers at others.

Moreover this is just a publiciy stunt. Does anyone know that Shilpa is being paid over Rupees 2.6 crores for this show. All this hungama is what she is giving us for taking this money.

So guys don't be fooled by it. Don't make us look real idiots.

Shilpa drama
by on Jan 18, 2007 03:07 PM

An actress of Shilpa's calibre should know how to behave in the Western culture. If we expect the Westners to respect our culture, we should learn to respect their culural values. After living in the West for number of years I know how dreadful they feel even if we accidentally touch their food (with bare hands). The incident should be an eye-opener for us.
