If she is abused, the best thing, she can do is to return back, than staying back and taking more nonsense. Again, if Shilpa is behind money, then she deserves it.

Racism is something that is and will always be a part of the west. Every asianm, who has gone there has experienced it. They only avoid talking about it. Gandigiri is not the medicine here. This is where Bhagatsingh kind of approach is required. Give it to em ya. If she called you a paki you should've called her Mrs. Saddam Hussain. The last thing you should've done is cry. These guys who do not have a wash for months together and use paper for err! u know what must not talk about others clean habits.

Classy Shilpa may make it in west.

Yes, this controversy will at least ensure that she will sign up 2 or 3 western movies -in Hollywood or UK. Shilpa is a classy female. I really like her attitude. She is the best dancer in Bollywood.

I guess it was started by Shilpa herself when she started off by telling everyone that how big is she in India (is she?) and how everyone back home in India knows her and how many servants she has etc. This must have ticked off inmates.

Not to forget that Brits and whites are racists and so are we as Indians. Don't we have racist attitude towards Muslims and lower caste people?

So what's wrong if someone has called her names. She should not retaliate and take everything in her stride and she will come back as winner. As such she has got enough publicity.

Will Big Brother boost Shilpa's career?

Yeh ofcourse if she fights back and stop crying. we are living in 21st century and Indians have proved their brain worldwide..why shoud we develop inferiority complex and have a sense of insecurity just because we are not from the so called superior white skin. Now time hase come that we should victimise the white of racism. We should stop crying foul.. we are the best and people from white ethinic culture should be made sacred of abt our strength of brain, talent,capability...we don't care about racism like discrimination...we are not part of it...

To point out in ur comment Sandeep: who said that white skin is superior? That was at times. We are proud of what we are and what our culture has for women and humanity. Thts been already proved. Then whr the hell this complex come into picture? Really hats off to shilp for being so patient in those arguements. I have seen all those parts of that show. She really represented an Indian woman in her talks being humble in her words and defense.

DOES SHE NEED TO BE THERE
by ARUNA LALJI GOHIL on Jan 18, 2007 02:21 PM

The presence of Shilpa on the show indicates how desperate she is to grap the international platform to Hollywood. An actress of her calibre should not have stooped down to such a bizaare participation. Is she trying to prove to the white world that she has no credentials as an actress in Bollywood that she should go for such a show. Come on we all have self respect.......she should have boycotted this show.and come back home with lot of dignity and self respect................

Shipa does not require such publicity to boost her career as she is already an established star. I only request her that instead of crying she should stand up & prove that we no longer accept such SHIT from anybody.

I am really feeling sad to read this article not because an India site is taking this incident as a gimmick for shilpa career but because this site is totally ignoring the main issue and that is Racism is still a part of Bretain culture. Probably they still want to live in Pre independence India Era. Better raise some concers over the racism that need to be taken care of. Shilpa shetty anyways if got popularity because of this dosen't make difference in her career if she don't perform. if shilps beeeen called a dog, its because she is an Indian not because she is shilpa shetty. Thats makes rediff also a dog site.....................

Hi Rajiv,
I think in India you guys are perceiving this as racism, but in actual fact this is simple bullying which is going on.Which is very much a part of this kind of reality show.I have been living in the UK since last 4 years and I must say there is no apparent racism here.Atleast, I have not faced it .Well there may some odd incidents or individuals who are racist but overall this country is very just and tolerant. In india we are trying to give this a racist tone without having any understanding of the issue or the psychology of the house mates.Come of it, there is hardly any racism but yes there is bullying.Honestly in India don't we have discrimination in the name of caste, creed, relgion, language of sex.So we are not as just and tolerant as we want the world to percieve us.

Many thanks and Kind Regards
Shamim Begum

Hi Shamim Begum,
India is a multi cultural country where several different languages/castes/religions exists and are given equal status as per constitution is concerned. In fact constitution/Govt has taken several steps for the up liftment of poor (sometimes branded as lower caste ones by stupid people) people and achieved something for their up liftment and much has to be still achieved. But all citizens are given equal rights/status.

well,in muslim countries , does non-muslims has equal rights in par muslim citizens?are non-muslims are allowed to construct their religious building ,in public?can they preach their God in public so openly ?why non-muslims are not allowed to eat in public during ramzan when muslims are observing fasting times?

Coming to west/US, Blacks are economically weak, Does the Blacks has any special privileges provided by Govt for their up-liftment? Ok Govt may not discriminate , neither it does nothing for their economic development.

In India, at times, some people may show some odd behavior , over all the role of caste/religion is limited to selecting the brides/grooms from their own caste/religion ,Does it not exists in other countries , might be in different form?

Well, there might be some occasional stay incidents by stupid people, but in terms of , overall tolerance and multi cultural living is concerned INDIA is thousands and thousands of years ahead than any other country/region in the world.

Hearty thanks and Regards ,
Kishore

Hi Rajiv,
I have seen the message posted by you and also the reply from Shamim. I agree with what Shamim has posted as a reply on the whole. I am a white British citizen born and bred in London. I have colleagues, neighbours and friends from India and I hold them very close to my heart and I show them the same respect and understanding as they show me and I think you will find that the UK is far from a racist society. Yes there are pockets of rascism as in any country but they are not tolerated in the UK. I have been on the receiving end of racisim in my own country. I have seen racist slogans written on the wall of a library in a UK/British university aimed at white/British people, written by Asian students. The sister of one of my best friends lost both of her legs in the bombings on the London tube. When I board a tube or a train in London I do not suspect the Asian guy sitting next to me with a rucksack to be a bomber I do not start hailing racial abuse or physical violence at this person and I know that is true of 99% of the people I have the pleasue of meeting in the multi cultural society that I call home. I am not some do-good, lefty politician or activist I have no particular political angle, I am a normal guy with a normal family, I work hard to make sure my family have what they need, I watch football, I love motorcycles and I smoke cigarettes. On a Friday evening I might go to my local Indian resteraunt and buy food. I dont drink alchol though. onto the original matter of your posting. Shilpa Shetty is one of the most beautiful women I have seen on my TV in a very long time. Whether she is British, Indian or Chinese this makes no difference she is beautiful. The TV show that she is in is not a true reflection of the UK and its people. It is what we call "car crash" TV as you never know what is going to happen. Shilpa has not experienced racial abuse it is as Shamin said "bullying" which equally is not acceptable but this is the nature of this type of TV and that is why they broadcast it. Yes there has been some racisim in the house but it came from a black American calling some other competitors "white trash" but this didnt make the news. I hope that you do not continue to belive that the UK is racist it isnt. Yes like any other country we have done things in the past that we should not be proud of but we have also done things that we should be proud of. It is up to people like you and I to make sure that racism doesnt continue in any shape or form but we should also look at caste, creed, religion, sex, exploitation of kids, the list could go on. No one is perfect but we are not racist in the UK. I hope that you will acept my comments as I have accepted yours.
