Actually its my fault
by Yogi on Feb 08, 2007 10:28 PM  | Hide replies

All of this is not AB or Mr Chopras fault...We pay them millions for something like acting which even Jr Bachhan can do... We worship our stars like heros...We pay hundreds of rupees to watch their movies becuause our own lives are dull...Recently I heard SRK gets Rs 280 crocre for hosting KBC...What a pity, in a country like India...I mean I am not jealous... Neither do I want cars like these...I truly appreciate his acting, charm and personality but since STAR has so much money and can donate SRK so much what else will he do other than buying expesnsive cars and rolling in luxury... India is a country of fools (which includes myself) and will remain like that for centuries... Nothing much can be done about this... Govt also after collecting loads of taxes does not know how to manage the money...The system here can only glorify those who are already rich.. It is anti poor and they need to be supressed n illtreated for the whims and fancies of a few...The line "Its my money, I do what I want with it" has done more harm than good to society...Bill Gates n Warren Buffet have already donated their billions back to society...Unfortunately our actors are far too dumb to do anything like this n can only mint money with their entertainment skills..Just ranting...hehehe

Mr. Yogi, You should question the very reason why and when Bill Gates went into this charity work. This is a gimmick which Microsoft went into to avoid the negative publicity they generated during the court battles over Window's monopoly. It's a ploy used by many business houses in US.

Ultimately, I am happy that some of the wealth of these ultra rich people is going to poor and needy, whatever the reason may have been.

Regarding considering our stars as heroes, it's nothing alien to Indians. It's a human mind set. Read the history of any country and you will understand that humans have always believed in hero-worship. The movies create a big platform for our actors and actresses to be portrayed as heroes and what do the mortals do - worship them of course. :)

Mr. Yogi, why are you having problem if somebody is giving gift to the person he likes and wants to appreciate? Why are you jaleous if these guys are earning so much? What are you doing for society? How can you assume Big B is not doing anything for society? At least Big B fans are not like regional fans in some part of India who are dying for their local heros. I know you are one of them. Big B has got all fame, respect and money because of his hard work, talent and good nature. Learn these things instead of being jaleous.

Why blame the actor for flops? The directors r resp. The musiicians are responsible. The story may be bad. Law of averages applies to Sharukh and even Hrithik also. Reg. Amarsinghji, ek hi ghar men do alag kisam ke log hote hen.(they are like members of the same house). Dont criticise a genuenly good bond of friend ship.

I really don't believe in donating money to the slum dwellers in India. A lot has been done for them since independence and due to lack of motivation they are still where they were. Let Big B enjoy his car. Waise boss gaddi zabardast. But bambai mein kaha chalayega Big B gaddi ko. Lagta he garage mein cover karke rakhega

what is your point, mr charlie sikander? It is well known that good acting does not correlate perfectly with box office success, else a naseeruddin shah or sanjeev kumar would also be superstars. and if you are talking about box office success, it is a fact that amitabh's total box office collections till date are sevarl times that of any other actor (obviously inflation adjusted, otherwise any below average hit film of today would have higher collections than even a Mother India or a Sholay). and if amitabh is still a superstar at 65 inspite pf the long list of flops you have cited (as far back as 1969), it is only bacause of his commercial success and his acting.

Agree with most of them.Indian public are fools. This is a place where rich gets richer and poor getting even poorer.Plz dont read this as a opinion from a jealousy person.I dont believe has our media become so cheap that they have no other better news to cover rather than this shit.Wht has public got to do with this. Aishwrya rai has become a buffoon roaming around like a tail with bachans.Pity on her.Big B is a good actor.....great - na could never be so.So much of fake publicity by bacchans ... i really lost interest to watch them these days. Abhishek lol.... well money does counts. Public lets not to fools. There are better things n better people in life- but sorry u cannot see them on screen.

Mr. Bachchan Deserves Creative Admiration
by Hilal Ahmed on Feb 08, 2007 05:17 PM  | Hide replies

We all know Amitabh Bachchan has an ability to redefine the conventional interpretation of acting. He is one of the best actors of all time. A car or some money can not do justice with his acting talent. What is really needed is to give him a creative applause for his mannerism and his unique contribution to global cinema. Interestingly, this is the most neglected aspect of our film industry, film journalism and/or the so-called media studies. For example, Film industry has not done any thing collectively to use the creative resources of people like Bachchan. In the same way, film journalism is equally indifferent in this regard. We do not find any interview of Bachchan in which he is asked to explain his philosophy of acting. If I remember correctly, Bhawana Somaya did an interview with him and Sanjay Leela Bansali just before the release of Black. In this interview Bachchan pointed out that he did not believe in %u2018method acting%u2019. Somamya, who is an intelligent journalist, quite astonishingly, did not allow him to finish his point. In contrast, she raised another silly question on the beauty of Bachchan%u2019s eyes and his hands! So my point is people like Amitabh Bachchan, Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand, Gulzar and Javed Akhtar need to be appreciated in a sober manner and they should be asked to elaborate so many other important things related to acting and films. This, I suppose, will not only give them a creative satisfaction but also encourage newcomers and stupid starts like Shah Rukh Kahn to learn the meaning of originality and creativity.

I think you need to learn more about acting and films. In my message it is very clear that the talent of Bachchan'(and others creative people as well) has not been utilized fully for the benefit of the industry or academics. In this sense, I am making a very broad generalization which is equally valid for Bhawana Somaya and Shah Rukh Khan. The problem is that your superficial and inadequate knowledge could not go beyond the simple terms like 'star craze' . I think this is not your fault. Again this is some think which is going on in India in the name of education. So, I am not unhappy that you make such a silly point. I have deep sympathy for you Mr. Vijay

WHY NOT? It is a fact of life that awards can be bought and requires extreme lobbying. Didn't Sharukh say he wanted to buy one of the Filmfare awards? How a lousy Paheli (remake of Duvidha) and not Black was sent to the Oscars? With the blessings of Soniaji and the Congress, it won't be surprising if he lands a major award soon.

by Ramakrishna Mungamooru on Feb 08, 2007 03:39 PM  | Hide replies

I have gone through of all messages sent by people in this regard and I agree with a few that in our country some people who have been blessed with wealth are really not rich in heart but in their own status. The real rich according to me the persons who help the forbidden (the poor and honest who have not been allowed to share the fruits of the common wealth of the independent India even after 60 years (approximately).

Nothing great giving a gift like this to AB that too such a big gift. Let them think even now about the downtrodden and sense the ground realities.

I am really amused to read comments on the article. People are bashing Bachchans on the name of Poverty in India. There are hundreds of billionares in USA and still they are a develped nation, isn't it. If u really are bothered about the widening Gap between the rich and the poor go catch hold of the Leaders of Congress Party who have F....d India for 40 years. Go catch hold of Politicians like Laloo prasad Yadav who have made black money worth thousands of crores. No body knows how much money is there lying unclaimed in the swiss bank accounts.
Bachchan or Sachin or Ambani are professionals in their fields. They have excelled and are getting their due. They don't publicise what they donate to the needy bcos that would be cheap publicity according to me.
Grow up and have the guts to speak against who are actually guilty.
