MEIN CHUUP NAHI RAHOONGI....................
by on Dec 09, 2007 05:37 PM  | Hide replies

Brilliant movie with a solid plot, picturisation, exquisite era settings of a period film. Soha Ali Khan is mind blowing, she is very natural (unlike her mother),her diction is very soothining and pleasant, unlike her mother who had a very peculiar unpleasant stagnant tone. But Sharmila was beautiful and very very curvaceous which Soha has inherited from her mother. She is not a put on like her mother, she is very very natural and so very pleasant to look at,fragile, elegant, charming and overall exuding the glamour in its purest form. Rajat Kapoor did full justice to his ole as Prem,Royale,Egoistic, macohistic and a womaniser. But the story was dragged unnecessarily in the end and in the climax. The blending was being let loose in the climax. A DEKHO at least for once..............

Hi dear y compare Soha with her mother? Since u hav very little idea of Sharmila - leave her alone. She can do a Aradhana , Amar prem or an evening in Paris in same passion as Grihaprabesh, Anupama, Namkeen leaving Satyajit ray's Nayak, or Aranyer din ratri, Devi or comedy in chupke chupke or double role on Mausam. 1st let Soha have such varied rolesthen we will compare. Soha is blooming beautifully wish both acts in Aparna Sen's Jewellery Box where both hav superb roles - till then pls chup hi rehnaa

THE REVIEWER IS RIGHT A MUST WATCH..IF YOU WANT QUALITY & ENTERTAINMENT
by on Dec 09, 2007 05:13 PM

I have just seen this film and would like to say i found it completely mind-blowing. It was such a refreshing change to watch compared to the rest of these big budget bollywood %u2018hits%u2019. this is qulity acting, story & peformance far far above anything else right now. Whats great about this film is that evn though Im not an arty film type & like my bollywood masala, boy-meets-girl story I was still able to thoroughly enjoy this. It was filmed, scripted & crafted so well, it succesfully transports you taking you into an emotional journey through the hindi film industry of the 60s of dinner parties, painted film posters etc. You feel as though u r those times watching this story happening right infront of your eyes. The acting of all actors is superb with not a single actor over/underacting there part, the best performances coming from soha & Rajat Kapoor. The story feels so real yet entertaining, that never at one pt does it become predictable, the acting is flawless & never lets down the story so much so you come out of the film thinking this actually happened in the 60s. Yes this film is unconventional in that for once all the actors acting are all flawless, the acting is actually belivable, the story is gripping, the flow is natural. So If you want to watch class indian cinema far above anything which is out right now, well crafted story, superb acting & be touched by a film, I urge you to watch this film. Well done Sudhir Mishra, thk you for making such an amazing film%u2026It trul

Sudhir Misra's Khoya Khoya Chand and well lubricated , and couched savoury Dishes...

Pkl. Afternoon, 3.30pm.,Sunday .,Dec.9, 2007
Sri Sudhir Misraji while appearing to be Post-Modernist ,is the same old merchant of Formuletic canon, that indulges in soft sleaze ,self reflexively the art -practices of our Bollywood : that is displaying young leggy lassies gyrating with various degree of undress and uptight navel, Mons and low tied Saris for the delectation of the voyeurists amongst the cine -buffs and the couch addicted hard-drinking Directors who regularly take the unsuspect young innocents to couch with the tantalizing prospect of being seen as Divas by their Cast.Sleaze , Couch and flesh display make the story of Khoya Khoya Chand like most indic art repeats itself, without much variation....D. You have chosen to write such a good review trying to act very smart, intelligent and intellectual who sorry to say alone just alone has not understood this horrifically shady and boring movie and hence decided to write an excellent review of the same. If you didnt understand the film, good for you, one should not understand it for any reason, it has been made like that with little to make out whats happening but why choose to write a review and confuse other people who will go and watch this terrible movie! Sorry rediff, you must change this man!!! For the movie, the only silver linning is the Khoya Khoya song, rest is absolute darkness.

durba u r exactly what this film shows that majority of indians dont appreciate talent whether its the film/reviewers, hence the talented sink in india whereas the rubbish floats to the top (i.e. films like OSO being hits). I was browsing on the web & was upset to find so many bad reviews of koya koya chand..climing it was boring..predictable blah blah when it WAS ANYTHING BUT. Becasue i have just seen the film and found it absoultely outstanding, so much so I kepp thinking about it again & agian. evrything about it the script, acting, story is in quality so far above anyhthing ive senn in a long long time. I was so glad to stumble upon this review by raja sen grateful that at least one person in the media has brains to apreciate excellence, i really have respect for you raja. You dont have to be an intellectual to understand the movie you just have got ot have the intellect to appreciate good acting, realistic story line & excellent script/picturisation. I want to disagree with you and ask rediff PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE KEEP THIS REVIEWER WHO IS ONE OF THE FEW REVIEWERS WHO IS ACTUALLY CAPABLE OF REVIEWING A FILM PROPERLY.

Wow ! Thats what cost for a movie ticket in India , Rs.350.00. No wonder movies don't do so well.

Who has Rs.350.?

If its a period film and if it has confused charcters, that does not necessarily mean its a great movie.

I wish i had only seen the first hour of the movie and i would have been ok with it.

Ok lets start with the good things about the movie. Sofa Ali..terrific, All support actors excellenet (everyone from Saurabh Shukla to Vinay..mind you not Shiney but thats for later),topic very good, parallel to cinema in 50's-60's i think very good..BUT

a) Mr. Mishra got all mixed up in head...after the first half he completely loses control on the film and doesn't know which directon to take it to

b)Zafar's character is constructed very loosely..wish he had done more work on his central character then otherwise

c) Shiney (and i like him) sucks in acting department

d) Repeated references to the same line and photo about Zafars' father..after a while its a torture

e)What could have been a very good movie comes out like a drag as you leave the theatre..in trying to make it honest..mr mishra could do neither

There is a silver lining though..for those of you who see this in North America..watch this movie only for the subtitles..they are hilarious..such profanity...(even when the dialogues have none)..i think the subtitlist was taking revenge for him having to see it or was trying to be nice to audience but at least making it funny..

Finally!
by on Dec 09, 2007 08:30 AM  | Hide replies

Finally Raja Sen writes a comprehendible and logical review. I haven't seen him give a high rate to any movie (except OSO) for awhile. At least this time he focused more on the content of the film.

I have not watched Khoya...but watched both OSO and Saawariya. Saawariya is one film that definitely touches you more deeply and maybe in a few years to come might become more watched DVD. I think this time Sanjay excelled but it is sad that movie did not do so well in the market.

If you want to take revenge of some one, give this film's ticket to him/her n you will kill that person mentally.. Hi ha ha ..

By the way, raja sen, someone should send you to the "chand" and then throw away from there..

Horrible movie.. Not at all catchy.. very boring. This in competition with Sawariya..
