A beautiful and poetic effort in creating true cinema. Agree with Raja Sen..Director has made a serious effort in recreating 60s,70s and the change in color and background set is remarkable. One of the very few movies where all actors had a chance to display their skills rather than a one-hero movie! Even small roles are well defined and the movie reminds us of yesteryear actors, directos and their sufferings/relations/complexities. The only place I differ a bit with Raja Sen is Soha Ali Khan did have some shortcomings due to the complexity of the role. She faltered sometimes to portray the intensity of the character and could have been better. But nevertheless it was great role and opportunity for such a young actor. Prakash Jha, Sudhirbhai Mishra,Shiney,Rajat,Sonia,Sushmita,Vinay and all actors..kudos to the whole team
Teekh bola.. my chand (wife) walked out of the theatre before the interval and I also lost the other chand (currency notes and coins)..and damn 360/ of them...
i think this movie does not deserve more than a star... This movie could be done in a more better way or like paying tribute to Meenakumari. Through out the movie you get a feel that the past bollywood industry was ruled by a fewsome!! The try is good, but you get an impression of yester years' stars have escalated themselves in such a way!! This is injustice to the great star Meenakumari on whom the story is written and the most insulting thing is that no where is it mentioned on screen...
i just watched the movie on sunday with my wife and beleive me its the worst movie i seen since "shabd"(sanjay dutt, aish movie).
having spent rs. 360/- for 2 tickets followed by another rs 150/- on food and drinks, had to watch the movie but still got up last 10 mins before the movie ended. everytime there was a blank screen and you thot movie has ended, a new scene would pop up there by popping in mind famous quote of shahrukh "Picture abhee baaki hain..meray dost".
beleive me you lose track of movie in between wondering and thinking why and what has happened, and what will follow and can never guess what will happen but all in a very slow, lazy, sleepy and boring manner.
if you have liked movies like jab we met or bhool bhulaiya, can bet you would want to avoid this movie. just dont waste time on such slow suckers.
another movie which got on top of head was released some time back, " Being Cyrus", and still dont understand how it got 4 star ratings???and jhankar beats got 1 star rating?
best way to judge about a movie(particulary if you dont want to waste a minimum of 500 rs per movie), is just to read comments on discussion board, and if majority of people say its good then its good, and vice versa.

Hi Sudheer, I don't know how the movie is because I don't watch it till. But I really like your idea to review a movie by reading comments on massage board.
First and formost pls somebody stop this review writers like khalids and sens from destroying the efforts of our renowned directors. Khalid said soha is a mistcast i completley disagree. Soha is a gem in the movie context she perfectly fits the bill, she is a revelation. True for shiney and rajat they are rocking, Surabh shukla was tremendus. Only thing the movie lacked was passion from sudhir mishra. He should have not touched meena kumari nad guru dutt resemblance. overall great gutsy film.
