People like Srinivasan, their work or their talent will never be known to the outside world. For them Indian cinema means the masala bollywood movies with their boringly repeated family dramas, the song-dance-sequences et al. It is a tragedy that quality regional films get ignored and absolute crap gets propagated as Indian Cinema.
And yes there are some foreign-Indian movie makers that set out to make 'Indian' movies and there by actually portray a false image of India - Deepa Mehta and her movies are prime examples.

This guy is simply superb and his writing and acting can match and beat anyone in the world. I won't be surprised if 10 years from now, all his films get remade in Hindi, i am sure Hindi audience would have evolved to understand him by then...

As you write, this man is simple doesn't have the glamour quotient in him but he makes and portrays in films equivalent to a common man on the street .I watch both hindi and malayalam movies but i think bollywood industry will never understand the depth of his storyline.
At times i feel really bad due to this north and south divide....It is blessing in disguise that we have pakistan creating all problems coz only then we all unite as one...High time we get rid of this....We all stand up and aplaud when we hear(even though we dont get to see) an english movie made on latest technology but we immediately criticise a kannada or telugu or bengali movie been appreciated and immediately jump into conclusion and saying it must be a crap inspite of we not even seeing the movie....where are we heading to???
Malayalam moovie is famous for its comedy and good stories.As i am viewer of malayalam moovies regularly,it shows more reality and humour then any other Hindi or other indian moovies.Though i am not belong to kerala state,i am appreciate the great job of Srinivas,Mammutty,Mohanlal and Dilip those actors makes real life stories and humours,so atleast we can think out of only love and fight like hindi moovies.
