DON (NEW) is a fantastic movie. It is same for the critics to compare it with BIG "B" DON . AB will always be in the first as his initial says. But we should give credit to SRK to have the challenge and courage to do "DON". If there are any one who could come close to AB then it is SRK. I think no one in the industry is close to SRK then think where AB is reigning.....
New don is much better movie (Please do not go via ranks given). Performance by shahrukh, Boman irani, etc is very good. Hats off to farhan for creating such a beautiful movie and giving new dimension to the action and thrillers created in bollywood. If you like hollywood type movies then you are surely going to like this one. Dikhavo pe na jao, apni akal lagao and just watch this movie without keeping the rating given to this movie and then rate it yourself.
I donno y ppl expect SRK to be duplicate of AB. The thing is they both are creative in their own ways. When i saw the movie, i never thought it to be same as old don. I knew there has to be something different. And moreover, if its same in all aspect, then it wud have been the greatest flop of the year. I think its really good to have an action/stylish film like DON in bollywood. It's real wonder and amazing. I really enjoyed the film and can view for second time too!
I think there are more SRK critics then fans personally. Let's not make comparisons here to the old movie or Amitabh Bachchan. It's about how is the movie as it is. I think Farhan Akhtar has done a good job, and so has Shahrukh. Nobody would have fulfilled the role better than SRK cos of his mean and villionous expessions. I infact felt he has overacted in KANK or Kal Ho Na but was quite impressive in Don.
What a waste of time and money? I do not know what purpose this remake of old classic will serve? SRK does not suit the role and it is a poor remake of original DON with all glossy and glamour..just cannot enjoy
And finally the entire story. Did any critic actually realize that the director is telling a story which is entirely different from the original Don and still using the same premises!!?? This story is not about nabbing Don's gang and then Vijay's problem of proving himself innocent. This story is about a wicked character named Don who is ruthless, cunning, shrewd, arrogant, and supremely confident of his abilities, and has don't mess with me kind of attitude. And how he turned all odds against him into his favor. It needs a lot of guts and imagination to do that, and Farhan Akhtar has done a wonderful job!!!! Be it his choice of cast, or music or the twist in the tale!!! I have full sympathy for Farhan and I believe it's our-all movie buffs' duty to stand by him when it seems that almost all media and critics have turned against him and totally overlooked his efforts as they are still under heavy awe of the original Don!!
Jasjit is forced into the story in both the films new as well as old. In fact he's instrumental in chaos being created when he steals the Red Diary from DSP's place in Old Don and the Disk in new one!!! Had his character not present in the movie, it would become not so interesting affair!! Arjun Rampal has tried his best but no matter what he does, he was never going to impress most of the people, especially critics as Pran saab has already made the character immortal. ...continued..
I read in many reviews that Kareena Kapoor has nothing much to do!!! Was she supposed to do anything more than what is shown in the movie??????? And I think she herself was very much aware of that!!! So why are the critics upset with that now???
About SRK's criticism as Vijay!! Ok he's not at his best as Vijay, but Vijay is there only for a song (and he really danced very well in Morya re song) and 3 scenes!!! Otherwise it's all Don!!! It's Don enacting Vijay and not Vijay enacting Don!!! Can't they see it? Throughout the second half every time SRK appears on the screen he leaves hints to tell that he's Don enacting Vijay and not Vijay himself. If one fails to catch those hints it's director's triumph over Viewer's imagination.
Regarding songs looking forced in!!! What a bullshit!!! Except the title track all 4 songs come almost at the same time and situation as the old one!! So actually the critics want to say that songs in the old Don were misplaced, too!! But then Chandra Barot-director of original Don, himself admitted that he had forced Khai Ke pan Banaraswala in the movie just to give viewer some time to go for a bathroom break because the script of second half was so tight!! In fact song Jis Ka Tha Mujhe Intezar was out of place in the original Don, which Farhan has removed in his version!! Nobody noticed it???
