It's quite pathetic that congress leaders try to bring religious flavor to existing controversy. They are just trying to show their "generousity" to gain minority votes. This is a cheap trick being played by congress leasers time and again.
Also, i wonder if Amir is so patritotic, why he vehemently stated that he would like to work in Pakistani films? when it's well known that Pakistan is supporting terrorism in India and recently it was conspired to have played a role in the killing of Indian engineer at the hands of Taliban.

These cong sycophants have o give a religious tint to every issue! Was it not the NDA govt. that gave Aamir Khan the Padma Shri in 2003??? Did the BJP then foget he was a muslim then and suddenly realised it now??? Please, stop communalising each and every single damn situation in the country now?? It is stupid of Congress to say so. It is just that Aamir is coincidentally a Muslim, and how can Congress leave any chance to potray the BJP of being a communal party, and dead against the Muslims. Had Aamir been a Hindu, or a Sikh, or a Christian, or anybody else, the BJP (or its allied organisations)would had done the same thing, i.e. stopping the release of Fanaa in Gujarat.
The main guiding factor here is that raising of Sardar Sarovar Dam is of crucial interest to Gujarat, along with other states. And it is very crucial for the BJP to show the people of Gujarat that BJP has and will do anything to raise the dam height. But, how could Congress can let BJP run away with all the accolades for opposing Medha Patkar, and ultimately helping raising the dam height.
Just like BJP has a pet issue of Foreign origin of Sonia Gandhi against Congress, the Congress has this pet issue of BJP being a communal party.
Remember, if Godhra carnage and subsequent riots happened under BJP government, Delhi Sikh riots happened under Congress government.
