Definitely worth a remake !!
by Titus Judah on Mar 14, 2006 10:25 AM

Hi all, this idea most certainly sounds interesting to me. Kabhie Kabhie was a super-duper movie, but it was certainly a long time ago. I wonder if even one-tenth of the new generation has seen it. I'm sure Yash Chopra is indeed clear in his mind about what he wants to do with this remake and am sure he is not jumping into the REMAKE RACE just becos a host of other directors are remaking some old movies. And please, he has not run out of ideas! He can make movies with different ideas for a zillion years to come and yet warm our hearts over and over again. Now about the casting, I think no one fits the bill better than the KING KHAN for the BIG B's role and Akki wud certainly do justice to the other role.. But the only thing I find odd is casting Preity in Rakhee's role. Preity is certainly one of the finest actors around, but I'd prefer a Kajol or a Madhuri any day. Why would Yashraj Films not want to give us the best when it can afford to? I think Madhuri and Kajol are by far the BEST ACTORS we have seen in a long long time and who certainly fit the role too! Yashji, just for the crazy million fans out here, we wud love to see SRK and Kajol create MAGIC just one more time please!!

Unthinkable

Have our filmmakers run out of original ideas???

I was aghast when i read about Yash Chopra planning a remake of Kabhi Kabhie...How could Yash Chopra ever think that SRK and Akshay could pull off what Big B and Sashi Kapoor did in the original. Its unimaginable, unthinkable.
Same holds true for Don...SRK will fall flat on his place trying to a 'Khaiyke Paan Banaras waala', Farhan Akhtar has another flop on his hand.

Please don't make fun of Cinema

There can never be another Kabhi Kabhie. Few reasons :

Firstly the soulful music of the great Khayyam Saheb. The versatility of "Tera Phoolon Jesa Rang" and the Masti of "Pyar Kar Liya to Kya" can never be recreated. Please dont even try that.

Secondly Akshay Kumar as a middle aged man of 50's with grey hair does not fit fine in the frame.

Shahrukh with due respect is a good actor but the balanced act of Amitji's seriousness and intensity of silence passion can never be portrayed the same again.

Preeti Zinta is a perfect misfit.

and please don't tell me that Rishi Kapoor's roll shall be played by Emraan Hashmi and that of Neetu Singh's by Tanushree Dutta.

Totally wrong ,if SRk feels he is complete actor why he has to act in remakes. I feel it is like what we get Remixes of old songs.

kabhi kabhi cast
by ashrz on Mar 14, 2006 09:28 AM

im sorry but im not sure if the new cast of kabhie kabhie excites me.i dont think akshay kumar could take shashi kapoors role.shashi kapoor has more class and a royalty to his persona.akshay is more vibrant and action oriented as a hero while shashi has been more subtle.even priety zinta doesnt seem so much the rakhi character.perhaps you could swap the role of sharukh khan in movie and have him take over shashi kapoor.
for the cast of rakhi ..and for the role of amitabh bacchann..you could give sanjay dutt a shot.he was surprisingly stunning in saajan and the woman beside him should either be auditioned by rani / kajol /...and if none perhaps priety will still be fine.

Probably this movie maker should go beyond imagination of the origin. The charecters which this maker choosed is facinating when compared with old movie.

what I think is, he should not remake this movie again.

Maybe you can compare Akshay's performance with Rishi Kapoor but not SRK with Big B. Well, as far as movie is concerned it may be good more importantly its because of Yash Chopra banner but not that we can compare it with Kabhie kabhie.

Akshay fits in Shashi Kapoor's role. He has done almost similar type of roles with good performance in other films also (dhadkan for example). Preity may also fit into Rakhi's shoes but sharukh replacing Amitabh doesn't seem to be a good option. May be Ajay devgan can fit into that type of role.

I don't think they should try to remake legends like Kabhie Kabhie or Guide.. no sense what so ever. Are our writers so out of ideas that all that the producers can think of is remaking either movies from Hollywood or worst still Bollywood????

Even otherwise, there seems to be trends with stories. One good story and 4-5 directors jump at it and make different versions of it..look at what happened with Saathiya, Chalte Chalte etc.

Whats wrong.. are we lacking writers and creators? Are we only left with mimmeckers in Bollywood?
