A very Special Tribute To The Great Mohd. Rafi Saab on occasion of his death anniversary........
If words could describe the Greatness of Mohammad Rafi, we would need to construct more words in vocabulary. He is one of those people whose Greatness could not be described in a few words. This world misses you Rafi Sahib, we all miss you..........
Woh Jab Yaad Aaye Bahot Yaad Aaye.......Love You Rafi Saab.......
Could not resist myself seeing so many posts on Rafi, to sit back and read peoples comments on Rafi Sahab singing capabilities. I did not know Rafi sahab voice when I was a kid but later with the passage of time, I learned, these songs which I liked when I was a small boy were sung by Rafi sahab. Rafi sahab, had a divine voice and singing capabilities. I miss him and I wish, had I lived longer or I lived when was alive. Rafi will not be born again but we will always miss him but I wish we listen, follow and get better singers like Rafi sahab was.
I met Rafisahab in 1978.I found him very soft spoken. It was difficult to believe that this person is so different when he is in front of Mike. I Had opportunity to discuss with him and share my feelings.During the course of discussion I asked him, how is that the song we listen, tells us it is voice of Dilip kumar,Shammi kapoor,Rajendra kumar,Johny walker,Dharmendra,Biswajit, Shashi kapoor, Sunil Dutt, Mehmmod, Jeetendra, and many more. His reply was, I am told who is the hero, situation, and I sing by heart, entering into the situation with the hero in mind by his body, style, speed etc. For the recent heroes like Rishi,Amitabh,he said it is also skill of them to adjust with his voice. I asked him which song for following, comes in his mind at that moment. He said: Dilip Kumar :Tute huve khabone Shammi Kapoor :Is rang badalati Rajendra Kumar :Chehre pe giri Johny Walker :Mai Bambai ka Dharmendra :O mazi chal Biswajit :Tukade hai mere Shashi Kapoor :Ek tha Gul Sunil Dutt :Aaj kal mein dhal Mehmood :Ye teri sadagi Jeetendra :Aanese usake Amitabh :Teri bindiya Rishi :Parda hai
I am one of his millions of fans.I have had a bad life full of pains, troubles and tragedies. That is why I became his fan.To forget everything. To spend few hours without knowing what is happening around me.When I want to cheer myself I will listen to his happy songs like 'mereliye aati hain shaam chanda bi hain mera gulam'.When I want to cry I will listen him 'akela hoom mein humsafar doont tha hoom' and 'chirag dilki jalao bahut andhera hain'.When I want be romantic I hear songs like 'ae phoolom ki rani bahaarom ki mallika' and 'muje ishq hain tujse'.When I want to be in philosophical I hear 'nafrat ki duniya ko chodke pyar ke duniya mein'When I want to laugh I hear 'april phool banaao' I love him too much and without his songs I don't think it would have been possible for me to survive this life.
I grew up in Kerala in the early sixties. As the complex world unfurled to my developing mind, Mohammed Rafi loomed like the sun and the rainbow and indeed the whole of nature to me. He was just there, a part of my life, beyond question, beyond any critical appraisal- just as nature was. Rafi is the greatest icon of trans-cultural trans-religious India. His was the voice of humanity and of God.
Mohammad Rafi was the best. Not only he was the greatest singer, but also a great person. He provided the ultimate "sukoon" to millions of people through his outstanding songs. There are not just a few songs, but thousands of songs which are very popular and still sound fresh. I still listen his songs every single day.
