Neither BLACK, nor PAHELI are worth for sending for the oscar nominations. Films have to be original, with a strong script, and firm grip on screenplay and direction. Not like Sanjay leela Bhansali who should be ashamed of himself having made Amitabh to overact (in a Hellen Keller remake) or a Bright, innovative director like Amol Palekar who could ever imagine of making such a stupid movie. Our Filmmakers have to learn how original ideas always win. Plagiarism has always taken a back seat. So Filmmakers, come out with new ideas!!
Paheli was completely a wrong choice for the nomination...the movie is complete waste of talented actress Rani Mukherji.. Dont they think while sending Oscar Nominations.... May be from next time on, public voting should decide which film is to be sent.
Black was not original work. Black had excellent cinematography and acting (albiet a little .
Black would have been laughed out of the Oscars for being a rip off of The Miracle Worker (1962). http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056241/ Ecspecially after The Miracle worker won 2 oscars in 1963.
The Miracle worker was based on the real life story of Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan. Only variation was that Anne Sullivan's role was played by Amitabh in Black and Anne's/Amitabh's illness tuberculosis was change to parkinson's/allzhiemer's in BLack.
Don't get me wrong Black was good but it should stay in India.
i really could not understand how can they send Paheli??? Do you think a story like paheli, will be selected ! just coz of SRK ??? American can have bad movies but a story like Paheli is good just for india. black is the best
Did they assume that this is a international childrens film festival.
I have seen the movie, read the book and to be honest the movie does not hold your attention beyond a point. It almost looks like a travel documentary for Rajasthan.
